Great video. Your in a fabulous position to test out the 5S 135 as you’re used to the Baler, the ground and you’ve used several MF models and the Kubota for the same job. Great news to hear you’re so impressed with the demo tractor… it’s useful feedback for Johnsons and all the other MF dealers as well as the design engineers in France.
I think it's a good thing for these modern engines to have to proper work on a regular basis. With all the techniques used for emissioncontrol, its good. If you have too much power for the job and the motor doesn't get worked often enough that's when problems with the exhaust and egr systems start. Heard that from a tractor mechanic as well as several truckdrivers.
I really like the size and looks of the 5s series too 💪
Have to try the battery clipper on that mullet Phil. Good old Robert saves the day again have to sneak over to Father Phil House when es asleep and get the check book for that tractor
We were very happy with our 5 series tractors with regards to power but we felt it lacked a lot of weight and was inclined to be bullied by some of the gear we use, but our country would be a lot hillier.

Another awesome Video. Rather that changing the pre set start gear everytime you start and finish a job, i have the pre set start gear in feid/turtle mode what i want while working, and the pre set in road/rabbit mode set for the road and just switch mode rather than changing the pre set. Same with the dyna 6 in thec 64 series. Each to their own though. Awesome wee tractor by the looks
A pocket rocket is great but to get one that is so easy on diesel is brilliant..... keep it.

A really really good tractor. I think the 5s 145 would be a better buy as it can come with Dyna 6 and 50k
Did an adblue delete and remap on our valtra 4cyl and its a completely different tractor now. Dyno went from 144 to 160 and its an animal for torque. Holds the 50k real well now and only drop two splits with 20t behind. Fuel use way down too. Turned the tractor inside out.
Adblue is a total

So then maybe Father Phil would look after a tractor in that size in the future, a 5713 should be almost the same tractor i guess :) i think you can fit 650/60R38s on the rear on those, to make a little bit bigger footprint on the tractor :)

Get the 6480 going, trade it in for a 6616/6718 next April maybe, be a nice size tractor for bailing.
New tractors love adblue till they settle down, plenty pto work would sort that out 👌🏻

135hp is plenty of power to drive most equipment that you have about.
It’s more having the weight to boss the machine you have behind it when travelling between fields.
Looks a smart tractor that’ll fit most of your needs 👍
if you have the 5s 145 it would probably take the fusion even better
Hello, You were comparing the 6290 (120hp) to the 5S135 (135hp). The extra 15hp surly made a differance. Also the fact that the 5S135 is brand new and also probably more effecient design compared to a 1999 to 2003 manufactured tractor . Then you are comparing a perkins engine to the Agco. Allbeit the perkins is 6L 6 Cyl where as the 5S135 is only 4.4L 4 Cyl. Progress..... the answer is probably in the years to come, The longevity of each. Will the 5S135 last as long as the 6290? Nice video. You always did want a 4 cyl tractor for baling. Keep up the good work. And please dont call a 135hp tractor a small tractor. Its not. A MF135 or DB885 or Ford 2000 would be a small tractor.😊

Remember she’s a brand new tractor and should be going well at 135hp🍒. She’d be tested now in heavy green conditions chopping on hilly ground . 💪🏽
I know lads pulling fusions with 135hp there's no reason why it wouldn't fly up a hill with it if it really can put out 135hp
Up a hill ok . Coming down a hill on a steep slope with two bales on , you might wish you had more weight on the tractor

It all depends on engine temperature for add blue consumption the higher the engine temp the less add blue it uses that is according to scania we went in with 2 lorrys one was running 2 degrees more than the other and it used alot less ad blue I done know if it is same as tractors

Engine will use more add blue the harder it's working, it's the same with our lorries Phil.
If u are thinking of buying one, buy the 145 with dyna 6 gearbox

I am really considering buying a 120 hp version of this tractor. Been looking at blue but mabey a red machine should replace the 390t. Only worry is that they would be a bit light although the loader should help
i think theres a 120hp version of the 6s thatd be a bit heavier if u want to look at that, as far as i know its the exact same engine
Don't go blue. I've a claas arion 440 and will be probably the same back end and gear box as the mf, equivalent to a dyna 4. It's plenty heavy enough. I put it on our 2300g tanker and done one of our worst fields for banks and it pulled nearly as good, but gripped better than our maxxum 150 (T6.180 if blue). That was probably what made me realise I didn't want another case or nh. So a new arion 650 is in the yard now.

390T is a very sought after tractor. Worth a few quid!!
Go for the 5712s. We have one and it’s a super tractor. 5 ft shear grab my n it and it can manage a 2500 g slurry tanker with T shoe in good conditions
Have a 6715s aswell and the 5712s handles the grab a lot better and it’s much more manoeuvrable around the yard for feeding

The only time you might miss a 6 cylinder of the same power as this 4 cylinder is when you go mixing slurry every other PTO task is easier than mixing slurry.
Would that tractor be able for 2000g slurry tank with dribble bar,or would it be pushed around
Have a 5712s here and she can handle a 2500g tank with trailing shoe. It can bully her in damp conditions but she’ll manage if you can pilot her well but flys it in dry conditions
We have a 13.500 liter (correct me if I am wrong about 3000 g) slurry tanker with 6 meter injecter 120 hp pulls fine but I prefer our bigger tractor so I can speed up faster and just pulls in any condition,s wet dry hils but 120 hp is enough

Didn’t you start using the fusion on 1 of the 6290s? They’re only 135hp on the book but the 5s certainly looks fit for it!
we did yes but i can say without a shadow of a doubt our 6290 wasnt putting out 135hp
@@FARMERPHIL3690 fair point that 6290 can’t have been or the 5s is a pokey touquey little motor touque overules hp when your on the limits! Plus if our Valtra with the 4.4 sisu is anything to go by it’s done 70% of the bale carting this year and only supposed to be 100 hp and got a heavy artic trailer and 16 heston bales with 1 weighed at 580kg could be the engine that’s giving it more poke!
What exactly is a lovely square round bale phil, You definitely do be in your own world explaining stuff, You do be the same trying to explain animals there is a lovely square calf with a lovely round head 😂...
A square round bale is a bale with good straight edges that is well packed and a square calf is a calf that has condition (muscle) and it has a square back I hope that explains it clearly enough

The newer ones throw up problems aswell, all the time they can keep it going with a few parts, they'd be better off.

If you were buying your first baler today would you go for low count fusion 2 or a similar count fusion 3, which is not a lot money more in canada
Soon as the warranty is over ad blue delete they are even more of a tractor with the pigs piss applicator gone. Fuel economy is better and power more so

The way they avoided using the 6480 when it was going kind of saids it all was probably a good tractor in it’s day but a think it’s time she’s was changed cause a don’t think it exactly had the easiest life
