- In todays video it's the final one of the MF 5S.135, aka the pocket rocket. It's time to say goodbye and give her a final review. Before that thoght we have to get our grain shed emptied and tidied up and bring straw home.

Great video. Worthwhile review from a man that knows MF tractors and has the implements and work to put them to the test. FairPlay to MF engineering & production together with Quicke to come up with the tractors their selling today. Keep up the good work.

its a good looking tractor, i had a 4255 which was 95 hp and i pulled 18 tonne stewart grain trailer behind it and she would pull , the gearbox let it down great wee tractor it thrown on grain trailers and bale trailer & cattle float , keenan machine and slurry tanker

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was always told not to have the soft ride on while loading, like I'd have it on going down the road but turn in off when I get to the feild to go loading bales could be wrong tho!
Leave the soft drive on all the time unless you are lifting something near the full capacity of the loader and I have soft drive for 23 years

Great review fairplay she looks the part. Got a 460 claas that is very similar spec same gearbox. These four cylinders are so as you said 'versatile' 👍

Great review.. they are a seriously good machine.. chat to your accountant and workout what is spent on a yearly basis on old machinery and down time tyres comparing new machine with repayments you would be very surprised very little difference
It's a wonder you wouldn't fix up your own loader tractor, how long is it lying in the yard now?
Should be able to find a second hand 5S or a 5713S if the price suits the wallet, should look for one with a Dyna-6 maybe? :)
Brillant phil u should buy one it would save u a fortune in diesel downtime with repairs to an older tractor i bet the repayments would be probably the same with all parts and labour going into fixing older ones warranty and all great video again phil
As my father in law says repayments or repairs when repairs cost more than the repayments you change it so until then I can’t see Phil buying anything brand new arriving in the yard as there’s no point getting balls deep into debt to do a job that the older kit they run can do just as well.
Great review for a local company, neighbors and friends buying of them for Decades, Johnston s just sold a 135c was it the Demo ?

Phil how did the 5s compare with the kubota you had on demo on fuel economy etc when you were using the fusion baler?

Hi Farmer Phil, loved your video about 5s 135 great tractor. I own a 2017 MF 6714s with Massey loader self levelling and soft ride. It Dyna 6 also has over boost of 15hp but on a dyno it's putting out 155hp on over boost so with that it would be putting out around 170hp in the engine.
I replaced my previous Massey 6265 loader tractor with the 67 also I had a 7495 and sold that as well so 2 tractor down to one. The 67 feels no bigger than my old 62 doing loader work etc but with alot more hp. 67 series or the new 6s would be well worth a look at when you come time to up grade your fleet.
I've always had MF tractor and my father did as well when he was farming right from a TEA 20 35, 65, 165, 178, 1080, 1155, 188 and I've owned 3080, 285, 6265, 7495 and now the 6714s. I can say that none of them have been a dud and generally reliable. So we bought new but all the Massey I have owned I bought second hand.
I would love to see a video of a demo on a 6s on your farm to see what your opinion on the 6s is. It would suite your business fine being a bigger heavier tractor than the 5s also the 6s series goes right up to 200hp.
Anyway I enjoy watching your video and look forward to more. Ireland conditions are very similar to New Zealand
I need to add the Dyna VT trans is excellent and if I could of found the 67 with one, it's was second had 4600hrs when, I would of bought it. The Dyna 6 is great but Dyna VT is brilliant especially for baling can't recommend high enough

Phil I saw one at the Farm Progress Show in Decatur Illinois USA on a big land leveler And said to self, that’s Farmer Phil and as there was something else on I planned on going back to the stand,but alas got sidetracked,on my way to Ratheniska ,so will be able to see it there I’m trying to remember what stand you said you would be on at the Ploughing ? as I’m coming to see you and me mate Jimmy Ryan representing Laois ploughing Was over two days at a brilliant vintage show here’s in Pontiac Illinois called the Threshermen,s reunion on every year 1st to 4th September I saw there one of the original Dynaometre used for testing belt horse power known as a pony brake Be interesting for Father Phil .interesting point they were testing a case steam engine and it put out 90 Horse power from a 50 horsepower rated engine Somewhere round 80% more than it’s rated power,not bad eh

I have one lovely machine and the integrated armrest is the job be fine on a slurry tank with splashplate don't know bout the dribble bar tho

Excellent tractor. With all the other tractors in ur fleet u really don't need it for slurry or tillage. I'd keep it free for yard work.

I still can't believe she's a three cylinder engine, they must be big cylinders, but sure I'm no expert
5712 with a loader a few years old are going for the 70K mark, wouldn't be much change out of 100k for a S5. Like you say it might be a few years before something in your price range pops up, but it would definitely find a place in your fleet. All the 57 and S5 have the same set up so upping the power wouldn't be an issue, buying a 100 or 120 hp version and then tuning the engine isn't a big deal and they are all basic the same machine just different engine settinsg and badges.

Really would like to see you get your hands on a Fendt, I would be expecting a 714 would be better in most areas than the MF 5S.135
A 700 series fendt is a big tractor. That 5s is more 400 size.

How does it compare to the 6290,that would be a similar power tractor.
Massey ferguson have made a turning circle an optional extra !!!. For god sake next windows that are see threw will be an extra
a cab would be an extra 😂
The options list would make Your eyes water ....😮😮eg Visio Roof €1170, Cab Suspension €1630, but it's probably no different to any other manufacturer. I'm guessing because it worked the Fusion it had load sensing hydraulics, a €2380 option. Standard hydraulics 57L/min, Load Sensing 110L/min, easy to see why the loader was so fast. It would have been useful if Phil had ran through the options on the tractor and a list price "as tested"

Them new quicke loaders don't need as much oil in the rams to operate quick we have one on a t6.155 have to reduce oil flow to it moving bales

why are you so shocked about that tractor running the fusion baler that baler requires 105 hp, apart from the butterfly mower i don't see anything in your yard that requires any more then 135 hp
Get the dyna 6 box and the loader joystick on the armrest and you’ll not want another tractor for that work! I’ve had one for a year and everyone who drives it loves it. Even had her on a 3000 gallon red rock tanker!🫣🥴
