- Hey it's Geraldine! In today's video, I show you my vinyl records finds at an estate sale I went to that had an enormous record collection. Lot of competition but these are the albums I managed to scoop! I hope you enjoy! :)

Lovely to see somebody who is so enthusiastic, knowledgeable and appreciative of music from my teens and twenties. I used to love going to my local record shop to buy albums by Blondie, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, X Ray Spex, the original Ultravox, Magazine, Tubeway Army and so many more great artisits.

I recently bought the 2x45rpm Analogue Productions for Headhunters. Such an iconic album and the Analogue Productions cut is next level high fidelity. Highly recommend!

i love Herbie Hancock, but i'm in to his electro megamix, used to play it on my boombox when i was a kid. love it.
The cool part of the records you have is that each was "cut" (i.e., mastered) from a totally analog source.
We sooo totally need people like you in this hobby! Lovin' your style and flexibility in music. Being a product of the 1980's music scene myself, I would recommend looking for anything from the Hoodoo Gurus or Oingo Boingo. Think you'll really dig either one.

Lovely collection, some of the music I cherish myself. Speaking of David Bowie, you really gotta grab a vintage Ziggy Stardust and Space Oddity. Oh, and grab some Bauhaus too! :)

Those are some great finds there. I hope you like Head Hunters. It is a great jazz-rock fusion album. If you like Head Hunters, another good one to check out from Herbie Hancock is Sextant.

Hi I live in New Zealand, and I'm in my sixties. These groups that you have are bands that i was into back in the seventies and eighties. One of my favorite bands of the 1970s are Roxy Music. I had Siren from 1975, .For your Pleasure 1973, Manifesto 1979, Country Life 1974 on vinyl. Devo are a crazy good new wave band. Talking Heads put out some great tracks, such as Pyscho Killer, Take me to the River, Burning down the House etc. Enjoy your listening.
Crazy about headhunters. I picked up a night at the opera re issue on colored vinyl on Walmart's black Friday sale and it was a little bit crackly for a 1/2 speed master but still a really nice pressing to have... I have a factory cd of it as well

For Your Pleasure is the 2nd Roxy Music album and the last with Brian Eno. The original band were total originals. Nobody sounded like them in the early 70's. Get the debut too. Oh wow, Lust For Life? For $20? That is a huge score! Those go for like $75+ in NM condition. I sold one not long ago for about that. What happened was the album came out and then Elvis Presley died. RCA Records went into full-Elvis overdrive and that album kinda got ignored. Not many were pressed, too many Elvis albums to reissue.
Bowie was my 1st music love in the early 80’s and always stays with me, look out for hunky dory, diamond dogs. And zigy stardust and the spiders from mars.

My favorite out of this group would be “Freedom of Choice “ by DEVO. That to me is a classic album. I did an episode just talking about that album. Lots of good memories. Loved your video!

That's even nicer when an LP is sealed yet they are worth much more money, I have many records of the past 60s to the 80s some of the 45's & LPs that have promo copies on them that says not for sale on them, I have two LP copies of Elvis Presley greatest hits that I purchased as a teenager back in 1971 that came with a number certificate of only so many that was sold back in the day they are gold transparent colored records that you can see through them so not sure what they are worth today but kept them in mint condition as they yet look brand new from 1971, I have not seen these out there anywhere from that year.

For my taste, More Songs About Buildings and Food, is the best Talking Heads album. Roxy Music Siren is post Eno, but my favorite Roxy band (Stranded and Country Life are the other must haves from this era). Try to pick up Eno's Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy). It's a classic Eno, before the ambient stuff.
You picked some good ones, there. The nicest one for me is probably the old pressing of Headhunters. Much nicer than the remasters.

Huge scores
My favourite album from that stack is A Night At The Opera, by my goodness you really scored big at that sale with those prices. A Roxy Music album you should seek out is their debut, Roxy Music. It has the song Virginia Plain on it, and Eno is brilliant on that song, as well as every song on the album.

I have "Headhunters" on CD, and haven't played it. I know it's considered a landmark as far as contemporary jazz or fusion goes. But seeing your enthusiasm about it, perhaps I'll get around to playing it at some point. Nice to see someone as into the music as you are.

you need to keep your eye out for the TH speaking in tongues with the robert rauschenberg cover art & clear vinyl... they are out there! hopefully you can find one that's not all yellowed from age... such a great record! happy hunting!

Those prices are insane!
Here in my country no vinyl record costs less than 20 or 30 bucks.
The Talking Heads albums are awesome. Less well-known artists and bands can also be interesting. If you see albums by Max Webster, Tori Amos, Camel, and Wall of Voodoo, give them a try. There are so many fabulous tracks hidden on albums by these artists and others that operated just below the mainstream.
Great choices, and at great prices, too! I wonder what your next Bowie album will be? He has such a variety of musical styles. If you had to choose, I'd recommend Hunky Dory. I'm intrigued by that Fabulous Poodles album; I've heard of them, but never heard anything by them. Those early Roxy albums are very different from Avalon. I like them, but I admit it took me some time to appreciate them. Still like Avalon better, though. Anyway, always a pleasure! Looking forward to your next one.

eno bryan ferry roxy music eno was a mamber for 2 albums the first 2 eno produced 3 albums by bowie. music such a discovery. im replabing roxy music albums that went missing. bryan ferry solos are a must have and ur taking heads find are gold. isnt music a joy

I'm surprised at how good the condition of the records are. When I think of estate sales, I picture stacks of ring-warped Barry Manilow (no offense to his music). Great finds!

Sorry about leaving a comment this way, but in the comments I have a list of Cassettes I picked up this summer (over 200) and most were made in the PEAK Period between the last of the 1980s and 1990s when they were made with Dolby S and such.... Anyway, I have to move again I think and I need to find a home for them. (more in the comments section) - m.

I realize your post is a year old but I’m bored.
Will never agree with you or my friends on Queen lol and bleh. Recently been harking back to the music I remember seeing in my parents collection and vaguely remember when infantile. Big clash fan though and I’m not sure why but really have been getting into Led Zeppelin and other weed smoking bands even though I don’t smoke weed🤣 my place is small and over the dozens of places I’ve lived I ousted the vinyl and was def a compact disc child. Yet I go to the store and peruse the vinyl because I’m reeeee. I miss vinyl even though I didn’t own much. Were you born in the right era 🤣 asking for a friend
