Last week, I went to an antique mall southwest of Cleveland, OH, and got a haul of about a dozen records plus two books. There were so many books that I passed up, and some vinyl as well. I almost got a Clyde McCoy LP (one of the artists with the picture disc 78), but there was no price tag on it, and the lady at checkout was going through a whole routine trying to figure out the price, so I just told her to put it back. The antique mall you went to had a lot of interesting stuff.

That antique mall looks amazing! I’ve always found that the best records are found in booths where records aren’t the main item the vendor is selling

Yes, always look through naked 45s. All the most valuable records I’ve found have been un-sleeved 45s. Like $1000+ records. No one takes the time to look through them so they’re always unpicked.
45 collectors care less about condition than LP collectors

I’ve never seen something like this in Europe. What also always surprises me, is the size of the parking lots, and the amount of cars parked. We don’t have that kind of free space in Europe, especially The Netherlands, anymore. Small country, 17 million people. I’m so jealous! The antique mall in this video, but the quality of life in general, always amazes me. Looking forward to the next video!

I loved your walk through an antique mall. May I make a few comments:
    1. Antique stores and malls are usually pricey with records.
    2. Ravi Shankar was a renowned sitar player who became good friends with George Harrison. He is also Nora Jones' father.
    3. That Jackie Gleason record is, as you guessed, a reissue because it has the 70's Capitol logo on the back.
    4. My favorites that you passed on were Heart Like a Wheel by Linda Ronstadt, and Something Anything by Todd Rungren.

15:49 As much as I love 45's, particularly if I only like one or two songs from an artist or band and I don't want or need an entire LP album, it's so tedious digging through hundreds of naked 45's to find some gems, but I have done it many, many times. LP records, by comparison, are so much more enjoyable to dig through given the eye-catching cover artwork and sometimes, I'll buy an LP for the cover alone because it's too amazing to leave behind.
I once visited a local Value Village and dumped 400 45's into my cart (Someone's entire collection must have been donated), so I could then avoid other collectors buzzing around the record area and take the time to inspect every record for condition and to see which songs interested me the most. I wound up buying about 25 records for a dollar each out of that massive lot of 400 records, but that's par for the course when record hunting. For every record I own whether they are 45's, 33.3's, or 78's, I'm sure I had to dig through 400 to 500 records to find those treasures. :)

You said you never heard of the Blue Baron? Where you been? I played all kinds of obscure bands when I was in grade school. I had gobs of 78s and Blue Baron was on there , also Shep Fields and his rippling Rhythm, Horace Heidt and his Musical Knights with his super tenor singer, Larry Cool. Most of the 78s of my vintage are pre-war- 1938, 1939. They were from a man who had a juke box business.

WOW you passed up some good Linda Ronstadt albums?? I think you passed up Mad Love and What’s New! As for me, I got very lucky last weekend and found a Linda Ronstadt record of my own last weekend: Hand Sown… Home Grown. (Plus two Steve Goodman records AND I snagged Mac McAnally’s most recent album on vinyl (still sealed till I broke the seal) for $5 in one of the luckiest finds I’ve ever had hunting for CDs or vinyl.) as far as what I’d be looking for in a place like this… I think I would be just as overwhelmed as you are. My vinyl/CD targets at the moment are some more of those nice hard plastic vintage storage shelves for CDs (two of which my friend gave me), and as far as artists go, I’m looking for Karla Bonoff, Linda Ronstadt, Jimmy Buffett (RIP) and Steve Goodman, although I will never, ever pass up a good dollar CD bin 😂 I’ve found some treasures that way.

Apart from the 8-Tracks and some of the 78's I'd have picked the 'Collectable Records From The 50's' series ones, perhaps. As there might be tracks you may not find cheaply separately. With regards the Jackie Gleeson album you did well not to pick that up (if you wanted an original); it is a 70's repressing, the 70's Capitol logo and the EMI one are a dead giveaway! Just saying! (And yes, I'd be someone who went through all those 7 inch records and would probably end up with maybe a handful; LOL! Plus the reel-to-reels, as you never know what could be on them, the mould would perhaps come off fairly easily, maybe?).

That TAEDO Beatles album is a bootleg. It's a bootleg of the Beatles Oldies, however that one is not on any database of TAEDO Records including Discogs. There is one, but it's "Non Label" version on a white label with black fonts & no record label. I see a lot of Taiwan, Korean, and Vietnamese (bootleg & legit) records turn up in in our Flea Markets/Antique Malls. It's common to see the bootlegs in those paper album covers. What is really surprising is a lot of them really sound good especially for being a bootleg.

A lot of them were military endorsed. The military allowed pirated monochrome covered albums to be sold on base for cheep entertainment for the GI’s. The condition was they were not supposed to come back to the states but many did. They are copies of copies so not great for the audiophile but for the collector, historian and audio archeologist, they can be fun. There are often humerus typos and translation issues on the labels.
