In fact, it did not enter service until 1986, 41 years after the end of the war. This fact only adds to the extremely long list of historical inaccuracies plaguing the game. Fun fact: The mark IV GSR is a mask that entered into service with the British army in 1926. It has a tan stockingnet cover over a rubber facepiece and features a large voice diaphragm on the front of the mask and a hose that leads from the chin to a chest-mounted haversack that holds the filter. Even though Battlefield 1 is a game that takes place in World War One, this World War Two era gas mask is the only one used by the Entente in game. It's almost as if the developers had done no research into what the filters actually were or what masks were actually used in the war.
