I test drove this car a few years ago (2017), I was in the process of ordering one - my car would've been 006. I've had the opportunity to drive lots of cars in my life but this thing was insane, such a unique experience and so fun! Unfortunately, I never went ahead with the car as it was just a bit too much money at the time. But here I am, all these years later, owner of a Cayman GTS, yet watching a video on the Mulgari... just shows the impression this car left on me! Great video!
What a beast! I would have kept that War Bird wrap for sure 😁 I agree with what you were saying about people not “getting” Mini. It’s still got a wheel in each corner with minimal overhang which is why it handles so well. Whenever I ask boring detractors online if they’ve actually driven one I never get a response...
Amazing car!! I’ve got a F56 cooper S stage 1 tuned to 285hp and 440nm it’s a handful to drive but I absolutely love it, it’s also crazily fast!! Rolling races I beat S3, Golf R’s etc etc with proof. I agree people who don’t rate minis have never ever driven a mini!! I hated minis until I drove one now I’ve had 2 and I can’t see me getting any other car other than a mini for years to come!!
It is awesome that a company like Mulgari exists to show the world the extreme potential of these wonderful little cars! I absolutely love the Mulgari MINIs and would purchase one if I fall into a fortune. Thanks for sharing your experience!
You probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a tool to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Yehuda Franklin I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
“I’ve got some major stiffening going on under here” 09.23 - steady Pete... 🤭 Great car, another one with a great backstory and another great review Sir.
That is an iconic R56 no doubt and I like the idea of stripping all the stickers off it and leaving it to be the sleeping icon 👍🏻. Thx 🙏🏻 to Allan for letting Sir Ped , give it a good old shakedown !!! Cheers 🍻🇨🇦
I was introduced to the modern Mini by my wife, she's had 4 coopers and I have to say while she's now in an Evoque, we both miss the mini. Great fun, decent quality, great dynamics, comfortable even for me at 6'4" and big build. My wife 5'1" and size 6-8. I think when the Evoque goes back, she will revert to Mini but I hope to get her into a slightly warmer version. We didn't see the Pete facial expressions we have seen in other cars but maybe that's because you know Mini's..... Great reviews and content as always.
Dang Sir Pete that music that played when u we’re showing the car from all different angles was fantastic for this car!! It fit so well! What a mini monster! Great review Sir Pete.
It certainly has an aggressive front end! Sounds really nice. The Mrs wants a JCW next! She has a 65 plate Cooper D at the moment which is still a great car to drive. If I drive it, I go straight to the switch for full go kart mode!
drove the icon 2 in april 2019. its an epic car, had an hour drive around bracknell at there old premises now. great customer servce and they knew i was driving over 200 miles to see the car in the metal and treated me like a vip for the day. nothing like a jcw, these are something else and handle really well.I remember mentioning mulgari to you last year. not sure if you mentioned but, the icon 02 mini also has a full carbon fibre splitter thats painted matt black to match the rest of the trim.
Peter you are very excitable about Mini`s but we get it, they are a different breed to the mini`s of yore. However, dare I mention the Monte Carlo rallies of the past and Paddy Hopkirk, they at the time were unbeatable until 4 wheel drives appeared. It says a lot for Mulgari to develop a class of Mini and spend such a lot on research and development but you now have an exciting set of cars for the future until electric rears its head!!!
Going with John below I love WWII warbirds and I guess the motif here is the Curtiss Kittyhawk. Not sure on this one though but only on the teeth at the front. I totally love the colour and with the performance, a clean front end would make it the ultimate stealth mini. However, my comment is just me and totally subjective. Total power to the owner👍 once again, super content.
Pete, mini released 50 very special JCW Challenge cars in 2017. The were a road going version of the Challenge race car.... you need to get behind the wheel of one of those buddy...and preferably one with a cheeky remap. (Not to be confused with the Cooper S 210 Challenge edition!)
As someone who has come from a slew of performance rwd cars Mercedes, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Porsche.. I decided to dip my toe into the world of Mini's based on a recommendation from a friend whose opinion I respect. I can't see myself going back, I've got a F56 Cooper S and it's just an absolute riot and the running costs are low, the after market is enormous. I got an absolute slaughtering from friends on Facebook (not that I care) when I bought the Mini and have any of them driven one? Nope.
Evening Pete, love the vid. Must confess I've never heard of the Mulgari Icon 2, but now I have I want it lol. Absolutely loved the original warbird wrap, I'd never have removed it 😔. Stunning car inside and out, you should have shown the engine though. Love to see the flamethrower exhaust at night time 😁. Take care mate, see you in 12 days hopefully if no lockdown happens 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🏁
Its sade That you left Mini.. i have a mini jcw and a Porsche 981. Awsome Cars With lot of soul and different character. Lovet to have them in The same garage
Well you certainly enjoyed that one! Whilst I fully understand the “Warbirds”wrap, I would leave off the teeth and roof job!...it would be much more “reserved” and understated which I like. So...a car best not to own unless you are on good terms with your local speed camera man!!..did you spot the patrol car passing by early on?? Stay safe! 😎😎😎😎😎😎Richard.
Quite a car.You must a jar of brave pills handy to go out in that one.Really liked the old mini, still to drive a new one.Great vid again.Keep them coming.
Truly amazing mini. Thank you for this wonderful insight into minis we would not ever have access to. I hope you get to the 100k subscription level so soon. All my best wishes to you and your family and the pupps.
Hi Pete, great mini but I would still have the lotus you reviewed the other day. I think it sounded more raucous and loud. Just to let you know I’ve got absolutely nothing against a mini I passed my test in one.plus owned 2 old style match box size. If you see one on the motorway they look so tiny.especially next to a juggernaut.😃
Hi Ped I know you love Mini’s but another one in the garage I think would be a step to far even for TG🤭 Change of subject where are the Pups, getting withdrawal symptoms, time for another walk before we lose the good weather.☹️
Hi Ped great video. Which is better, this one or the 400bhp one you drove the other week If you were spending your money on one which would it be Cheers Mark

Mulgari no longer exist in this format. One of their technicians has bought the right to use the name and is starting again from scratch......so no more ICONS and complete cars any more......what a waste! 🙁😡
Great video, quite and extreme Mini that one! I love the shark one vinyl, it amazes me more car manufacturers don't dechrome as almost every car I can think of looks better without the chrome. Audi offer black trim as an expensive option on many of their cars, but the cost seems a bit silly to me.
You make it so difficult! I'm nearly at the point of buying a second hand TTS after a year of considering and now you make me doubt again to go for a mini as daily. Clubman JCW is way to expensive but a 3 doors mini....hmmm
I had the same dilemma ( although TT tdi and not TTS ) . After driving the Audi and then driving the Mini SD , I went for the Mini . The TT is lovely to look at and I wouldn’t be disappointed if I owned one as a second car , however , for out and out fun , the Mini wins hands down .
Does this car have an OEM BMW LSD? Or does it use some sort of electronic braking to control torque steer? I was surprised to hear you say that it corners under power better than Ruby if it exhibits as much torque steer as you experienced under straight line acceleration. What a weapon that is, and you are correct that people that have never driven a MINI really need to get behind the wheel of one and enjoy the fun 🤩
Most people who bag Minis or Mx5s either haven't driven one, or can't drive anyway.
Mad car. I like it!
