Welcome back to the show! This big turbo 500HP Mini Cooper R56 JCW WC50 is probably the most insane FWD car we've ever driven here at Roads Untraveled! The built 1.6L turbocharged inline-4 under the hood puts down 455whp to the front wheels, all while laying down laughably long strips of rubber onto the tarmac below. Absolutely unruly Mini. I have a lightly modded r53 JCW with exactly half that horsepower and she absolutely flies. Couldn't imagine doubling that horsepower in the Mini package. Coincidentally, the previous owner of my car was the service manager at Mini Yaletown!

I would love some of the RPM prpducts but its just too expensive. Too bad the Mini market is not bigger so prices could lower a bit.
@@I_vchris it will not cost this much. However, billet components of this size do have a high cost to manufacture. Its not about what type or vehicle it goes on. It is about material cost, tooling setup, programming, etc. Cosmetic design can also impact the cost of production. It is a lot involved until a product of this quality is made.
@@Lorenzo_Lebediuc Especially when one guy is a mastermind enough to do this sort of thing and possibly produce it by himself or with a small group of people. The 6G7X Mitsubishi community is the same way with our guy Ray Pampena or any OG to a platform willing to sell parts to the public and make them so the community can thrive! It's cool what you do man and glad you out here for the Mini community, keep doing what you're doing.

Love my first gen mini. The new ones have gotten terrible with tech. Any true car enthusiast wants engine power, nice brakes, coilovers, spoilers, not an ipad mounted into the dash.
Why not both? I hate newer tech but I love the touchscreens too.
I like the interior to be just as nice as the outside and the engine power too
@@somedudeinatunnel3102 think the point is usually when you have both there’s always a trade off. So if you can really only have one or the other then car enthusiasts would pick performance and handling over tech

@@PneumaticFrog The JCW Minis are still plenty fast. If you compare them to a Golf R then yes they are slow, but don't forget the damn GTI.

Great video! I have a stage 3 tune from Lorenzo on my N14 and it’s a blast to drive! Lorenzo is a tuning wizard and I would definitely recommend him for tuning Mini Coopers anytime!
Give me a John Cooper Works '06 tuned and maybe styled a bit (plus a Chevy Blazer K5 '89) and I'm set for life :D

I think I saw a link to their IG in the description, from there u can get some extra information directly from rpmpowered. Minis are awesome, I love my little R50 daily driver, is still so much fun even with a stock 5 speeds non turbo engine.

Nope. R53, the 56 has way to much useless tech. You can't argue with that.
@@tom.northshore R56 is easily moddable for decent numbers, r53 is cool but slow. R56 looks pretty darn good too, although I prefer LCI lights

That will never pass SMOG visual inspection in SoCA. Oil Cooler and Intercooler OK. I run them in my 56. Oil relocation bracket has serious interference with stock cat. Fortunately for me, I know a trick!

I just picked up a manic Motorsport stage 3 2008 jcw with a 41mm turbo making 30 pounds of boost and 300 hp

I was going to swapp mine and put a V6 in but looking at this video I think I'll keep the N14 engine just do a fully forged engine and bigger turbo

I'm so impressed. I would be happy with 400hp. My R55 would be fun. Already did a lot of changes. All I need a an engine forge, bigger turbo. The car has a LSD and complete exhaust change out.
My only questions would be are one where is the blowoff valve located and two what charge pipe is that? I just purchased the RPM billet intake manifold for my fully built R55.
What clutch and flywheel are you running? Can’t image that you run the stock dual mass flywheel. Curious what combo you use. Great build!
A good number of people, here in the UK at least actually convert the 1st gen cooper S models from supercharged to turbocharged. The engines are much more reliable than the R56 models like the one in this video too.
N14 Motor is a great motor once updated with forged internals. In stock form, W11 for sure is a more reliable motor.
It’s great producing that much bhp but if you can’t lay it down on the tarmac your just wasting the power and losing time really..
tire size on those wheels are just unsatisfactory. 215's are never going to hold that power down yet alone 235's at already 250-300 range

Hey Josh, its not an off the shelf turbo. We had it customized by SpectrumMotorsport to our turbokit needs. But I believe a good comparison would be a gtx2863~ with some minor changes. This specific unit was flow tested at 42lbs/min. Build based of a Duall BB CHRA cartage, custom milled 47mm 11blade billet compressor wheel, gt28 hot side wheel and .64ar hot housing in v band. I hope that gives you an idea.
how much would you charge for this type of work if i want it up to 350hp ?
Depending on your model, just downpipe and ECU remap can get you to 300+
My 2.0T JCW F56 is at 320hp/450nm with minimal work and maybe €3000 invested (this stock model is 231bhp)
Bigger turbo, intercooler and you can get 450hp for sure which is crazy on a car that's lighter than a Mazda Miata

9.8:1 CR on this build. And Ethanol for fuel, e60 during this time

My engine is forged and the cylinder head port polish gear box lsd factory brakes standard exhust 3" catback s/steel cat back but lack the goodies around it I'm in the uk so could you cook me up a package for the 500BHP

looks like they need to add a LSD. Torque steer is really bad on that. My supercharged 4g eclipse would pull about a lane to the left on the freeway at 360

Agreed! Alpha 4C, MR2 Turbo, even a 944 Turbo doesn't sound too bad

My r53 has power steering as do most cars built in past 20 years.
Its not electric power steering. R53s are pump and fluid
