    I own the violin that was on the President II when it went down in 1934.

    Most certainly not. I love my instrument and have many hours into a new bridge which I carved myself. I would think Mara was compromised by the water damage. Thank you for the interesting history of Mara. The man must have wept. It is not too unlike my escapades with alcohol. I lost my great grandfathers violin because of messing around with alcohol. There is a moral in your story for children and adults to learn. Thank you Sir!

    If my lovely Double bass was under water, even in this state of panic, i would be under water too. What an horific situation 😱

      Oh yesss! Me too!
      But very likely if we would be in such a life changing situation things are getting different!

    After restoration by the Hill Brothers, was the sound close to what it was before going under the water?

    • @EdgarRuss
      @EdgarRuss  8 месяцев назад +2

      I believe so; because it sounded still very focused and Stradivari like!
      That’s why Schiff got the French bridge fitted on, to make it smoother

      Was the French Bridge Aubert Mirecourt ? I think that was Stradivarius go to for a bridge ? @@EdgarRuss

    Hello Mr. Russ , This story is a lot like the 1732 Red Diamond that was in the Pacific Ocean for two days ? I think the label was in three different pieces ? Would you buy a Strad that has no label and was in the sea water for two days ? Damaged Goods ?

    Edgar, what do you think is the best cello ever made? For me it is the Sleeping Beauty. I think it is the best old cello in the world.

    Help! What is the exact length of the 4/4 cello strings? What is the distance between the body and the bridge?

    Speaking of alcohol, alcohol varnish should not be a modern invention as alcohol has been around for millennium?

    • @EdgarRuss
      @EdgarRuss  8 месяцев назад +1

      That’s correct! But alcool has been far too expensive in those years!!!
      Oil varnish has been much more diffused and popular!
      Imagine that when I have been a kid it has been still used for painting a door or a fence outside!!!!!

    Hi, long time subscriber here, but it's becoming difficult to watch your videos. This one I had to stop after only a couple of minutes. Too much sound and visual effects that are very distracting and actually tiring. And the constant jump cuts are driving me nuts. Would it be possible to "tone down" on the cute stuff? You already have our attention. Please don't treat your viewers like 3-year-old children that need entertainment in their educational content.
