The merger could be the swan song for the Challenger/300/Charger as we know it. While sales are steady, this big coupe/sedan has never really caught on in mass to European markets, and that's all FCA and PSA are worried about. They want the US truck market, as well as Jeep. Otherwise, what do they have to offer the American consumer? Not much. I don't think the Challenger/300/Charger platform will be around in 21.

@@didierlemoine6771 Certainly. But for Dodge and Jeep, I can't really see how they could benefit from PSA. Perhaps if Carlos manage to keep more cash for his company than sending it to shareholders.
@@bryanvogt3371 Since Carlos Tavares is from Portugal, let's hope for EVERYONE that he can stay neutral with his analysis. Another point, he is a fan of cars, and he is at the origin of the revival of Alpine, a french sport brand, and the best french car of these last 20 years. Really, that guy knows what he talk about.
PSA holds every card in the négociations : Carlos Tavares will be at the top, and 6 out of 11 board members will be PSA. Furthermore FCA needs PSA to survive : the last model they developed entirely was the fiat tipo. The rest is based upon the fiat 500 platform. They lack proper r&d and quite simply they risk failing completely . They’re the only group not placing faith in eVs a few years back and now they need the technology sharing with PSA. They need the 208/308/3008/508 platforms. When Tavares talks about the merger, it’s clear which company is dominating the other. Plus the company’s stocks are reacting In the same exact way as it does when a company is buying another company.
Yet Obama allowed Fiat to buy Chyrsler what a shit show Chrysler could have made it if the had 1/3 the help GM got. Without the burden of Fiat Chrysler with Ram and Jeep plus Dodge performance cars would be more profitable than Ford or GM right now.
About all you said is bullshit. The board members are 11, 5 PSA (1 for Peugeot Family, 1 for french gov, 2 chosen by PSA group, 1 for PSA employees) 5 FCA(2 for Agnelli family, 2 chosen by FCA (so other 2 for Agnelli family), 1 FCA employees) and the CEO (Carlos Tavares, which will be an employee of the new Company, not of PSA since he is not a shareholder). FCA actually developed an all new ev platform for compact vehicles debuting with the all new 500, while PSA just added battery packs on their old cmp platform. Also FCA has compact platform and an all new rwd platform for vehicles that goes from mid-size to luxury size (Giorgio, one of the best platform on earth for rwd vehicles, ready for electrification). FCA is present all over the world (europe, north america and south America), while PSA is just in Europe. The only good thing of that group is that their platform for compact vehicles is very cheap, so they make high profit from their cars. Btw the first shareholder of the company will be the current owner of FCA, Agnelli family.
Chrysler's vehicles aren't that reliable. Fiat's vehicles are known for being pieces of crap in Europe- but Pegueot's are known for being very reliable vehicles there. I'm thinking FCA's vehicle lineups will become more reliable, and it's possible that Peugeot's vehicle quality will go down. So the merger is good for us but maybe not so good for the European's.
@@perforongo9078 peugeots are awesome cars, new 508 is a nice medium sedan , diesel engines are awesome , especially with hybrid drive. it is posible that the quality could rise in the NA market, but quality needs to stay in EU, couse it is the bread and butter of PSA. Also fun fact, 3.0 ford diesel in 2019 F150 is a 2009 PSA-FORD engine installed in 607 PEUGEOTS and CITROEN C6 :D
Peugeot outrank all German brand in terms of reliability, and Toyota use Peugeot engine, Peugeot is also making good performance car, as good as BMW while being cheaper, Peugeot proved itself in a lot of car competition. American believes French car to be bad because Americans are Chauvinistic, Peugeot only made a handful of bad car, and they were never sold in the US
There is an americanized version fo the EMP2, yes. Perhaps it can help Chrysler, with a modern and much cheaper than the daimler one. But for Dodge, wow, I must admit I'm totally incompetent on that topic.
Will Chamberlain, you can be certain PSA will greenlight the Jeep Wagoneer (on modified Giorgio platform from JGC) and Grand Wagoneer (Ram LD chassis) as they can go after Range Rover, like Signore Marcionne always wanted. I don't think anybody is interested in an Aspen revival as a mainstream compact sedan (on the SUV depends on what PSA decides to do with the Chrysler brand).
I thought FCA already committed to the Wagoneer AND Grand Wagoneer. It was in a press release a few days after a certain know-it-all was dissin' other possibilities due to capacity (which said press release said they were opening a new plant for lol) I'd be concerned for them changing the platform to something unsavory if this merger happens overnight at best. Sounds like test mules are already in the wild to me
Jordan Broly , FCA did commit to those, but since PSA now has to give input about everything FCA done (and have to partially pay for it) and see if it gels with PSA's goals. Every time one company buys another they have to REEVALUATE EVERYTHING so it makes financial sense for the Company going forward and some projects may be canned or axed ("just the nature of the beast"). Good thing is PSA seems to like and need the Giorgio RWD platform, which the next JGC and Wagoneer crossovers will be built on and probably wouldn't have issues with the Ram LD chassis on the Grand Wagoneer, since they would go after Range Rover worldwide, something PSA would want to tackle if possible as long today's market conditions are kept. That Giorgio platform would seem to be needed for other existing or new projects elsewhere within the new company structure.
It seems as though every company that merged with Chrysler always gut it ( reduce costs by whatever means necessary). Then change everything inside the business structure. This constant change is what makes poor quality in there cars. I don’t think this will be any different. Toyota does it best, copy who’s doing it good and make it better then leave it alone when it works.
OTOH every company that ever owned Jeep ended up far more dependent on Jeep sales and profits than is healthy for the company as a whole. Willys, Kaiser, AMC, Chrysler, D-C and FCA all fell into the Jeep Jinx.
This may be a great move in a business aspect, but in from a consumers point of view this looks like the beginning of the end of high-performance modern muscle cars.
I don't think so, Carlos Tavares is also the guy that made the new Alpine A110 happen when he was working for Renault. He's a real car enthusiast and he's also a racing driver!
dufonrafal Well, that’s a turbo 4-banger. Ultimately only time will tell but that specific car just isn’t holding up to something like a 392. No replacement for displacement. AND on the business side you gotta think cost-effectiveness. How much did it cost to make that car vs any vehicle with a Hemi engine. 🤷🏾♂️
Korbin Harkley it’s a turbo 4, so what? This car is about lightweight and handling. Plus there is no other choice for the European market. Of course they won’t produce a car that doesn’t sell but they won’t shy away from enthusiasts cars either.
I am concerned that the Chrysler brand might be allowed to fall by the wayside. Throughout Chrysler's history, it was designed to be pretty much a luxury car, but few efforts have been made to market the current Chrysler as such. Chrysler has also been known (Most of the time) for its engineering prowess. Perhaps FCA and Chrysler could develop an operation that would combine the best features of Maserati and Chrysler to be marketed in a way to compete with Cadillac, Lincoln, Mercedes and BMW (and maybe even a little Rolls and Bentley). Even if they leave Chrysler in the market it now appears to serve, they could revive the Imperial name combined with Maserati for the new luxo market.
@@PrydeWater901 The Chrysler 300 needs to be redone as a convertible the old stretch version of the 300 needs to be reintroduced as the Imperial with all wheel drive. The front end needs to be redone with round headlights more like the current Bentley. All Chryslers need to have "Corinthian Leather" seats standard. The Pacifica should be redone as 4 door with no sliding doors as a three row AWD CUV similar to a Chevy Traverse. How damned stupid are these European clowns that run this company. BTW ship that Fiat/Alfa Romeo crap back to Italy we don't want it.
I believe it will be a successful merger basically because it has to be. Both companies from a long term perspective are in a “Do or Die” position. Where in the past with Daimler or Fiat they were trying impose their will and way on Chrysler. No one can argue that FCA north american ventures are doing it the right way. It would be absolutely stupid to mess with Jeep and Ram at this point. What they need is more diversity and car platform sharing for Dodge and Chrysler. And that is exactly what PSA can provide. PSA on the other hand need to grow their market presence and what better way than to merge with FCA which already has a significant foothold in this market. How PSA breaks into or distributes in the US is where I think could be a little tricky and needs to be done right.
@@pixelomelette7006 not really, it would be even more "cool" if they stayed home and reinvested the Ram and Jeep profits in USA and Canada in New RAM, Jeep, Dodges, and Chrysler products.
Even way back in the day, those cars were not successful here in the states, and had bad reps which turned out to be true. If you have ever listened to the older Top Gear BBC ( even the newer 1's) they bash the quality of these brands all the time. There really is little to no market for them here in the US. Ask Fiat America how it's doing.. They can't give them away.
I'm glad that they did not merge with Renault, and hope that this choice will be better. As long as FCA continues to focus on their performance minded customers, it will be fine and support the move. The unrealistic strangulating EPA crap that was brought on by Washington bureaucrats, has been really difficult for automakers and the politicians lined their pockets with monies created by their failed green deals that has cost taxpayers billions. BTW thanks for bringing us the latest in our favorite brand, and is one of the best Mopar channels on here 👍🏼
It's a very bad news for PSA. PSA has technologies (3D cockpit, electric engine...) which FCA doesn't have, financially FCA is in a bad position while PSA had excellent results. FCA cars are awful except the Fiat 500. Jeep Renegade, and other bullshits are shit cars. PSA has tyhe 5008, the 3008, the 208, the 508, the C4, the DS7. All these cars are consireded the best for their categories in EUrope.... Very bad deal.
Maybe if gas prices spike in the us maybe they can borrow PSA's small car platforms and release small cars (compact and midsize sedans) under the chrysler and dodge brands.
Yeah right my local Sunoco gas just "spiked" to $2.10 / gal last week when I filled up my Hemi 5.7 Challenger in west Michigan, that gets 24 MPG on cruise control, man I must be out of touch with reality LOL.!
I see the end of Chrysler as a brand since they basically have the dated 300 and the newer Pacifica which does fit within both companies. The latter will likely become a different brand. The real benefit goes to PSA. They can bring PSA Manufacturered vehicles to the US while possibly converting FCA's plants for building some of the PSA lineups. They would have the use of the dealerships while eliminating low profit, slow moving vehicles along with cars that creates the need to purchase Tesla's carbon certificates due to low gas mileage and higher emissions. The vehicles that come to mind are the dated Dodge Charger and Challenger. It's possible these vehicles become a redesigned 4 cylinder turbo powered vehicles that could sell both here and in Europe. Big V8, tire burning vehicles are not going to fly with the cost of gasoline and emission requirements in Europe. So make world cars that can be sold throughout the world. The Challenger and Charger currently doesn't fit that market. Development of EV is extremely important and I'm guessing this will become a high priority in this merger. I love my 2018 Chrysler 300C, but looking at dealer inventory. The 300 has become the forgotten car. I hope this ends up being a true benefit for FCA and not an opening for PSA to replace alot of FCA's products with PSA's vehicle lineup. As mentioned. What was to be with a beneficial merger with Daimler Mercedes ended up being a disaster for Chrysler.
I'm hoping this will work out for both companies vs the way Daimler treated Chrysler. Technology is something FCA has been lacking, which PSA can help FCA with. FCA is very popular in North America, so if FCA were to share some of their platforms with PSA, PSA might become successful in North America. This might also help Jeep, Fiat, Alfa, and Maserati, along with the Chrysler Pacifica, become more successful overseas. My biggest concerns are what will happen to the Challenger, Charger, and 300 and the V8's. One other concern is how well they'll cooperate with each other.
You clearly dont know what youre talking about? which technology? atonomous cars that will never reach prosuction - just great, exactly what FCA needs.. BS.
Didn't Citroen sell cars in the US in the late 60s-early 70s? I remember marveling at their TV ads that showed the Citroen models DS19-DS21, dubbed "The Frog", to ride on three wheels, thanks to their (then) revolutionary air suspension? BTW, when I lived in Italy (77-82) I owned a Citroen-Maserati; possibly the most comfortable and revolutionary design wise vehicle I have owned to date ( and I have owned, at last count, 34 in ten countries). As for FCA vehicles, I have owned Dodges and Jeeps. Let's see what the future brings as far as this "Merger" is concerned...it seems to me that PCA is buying out FCA.
I would of thought FCAs Ram and Jeep lineup, would of kept FCA afloat. From the outside looking in, FCA appears to have some serious managerial issues. Lastly, I don't think EVs will ever become a viable option for the masses, at least not for the foreseeable future anyways. Cars like Tesla for the most part, are just toys for the most affluent amongst us.
This is the future of the industry even mighty Toyota partners with Mazda. Subaru and BMW, on flip side none of theses brands is known for high quality that needs to change for the American market .
I get nervous because if this other company has their full jurisdiction they may want to cut off certain vehicles I don't know I'll sit back and watch this one👀👀👀🙏

You have not mentioned the one thing that matters here. Reliability, people want reliability As the case was with DaimlerChrysler, Chrysler Corp was and is very Unreliable due to their poor American build procedures thus the reason Daimler got rid of them. Now their merging with another, European great hopefully they can learn this time and start conforming to the rest of the world’s standards and also you forgot that PSA is sold in Australia as with FCA automobiles.
Mercedes aren't reliable cars either LMFAO. Both sucked back then and was a terrible merger. PSA has good reliability and if they put their platforms on future FCA cars, reliability of Jeeps and Chrysler's should improve a lot to where they're at least safe to own out of their short warranty.
how? dodge, ram and jeep are the only brands of FCA that do not underperform. Dodge is save. and chysler has a way to prestigious name to be killed of. If anything "negative" happens to chrysler than a rebadging alliance with DS automobiles or Opel, which would take away some of its flair. only if the new company has very very seious problems chrysler could be gone, but thats unlikely, psa is a company that performes much better than expected, and when their ceo takes over the new company im sure they will perform pretty well.

Playing devils advocate here. If this anything like the Daimler Chrysler merger, could spell the end of Dodge and Chrysler leaving only Ram and Jeep. And really thats what PSA really wants anyways. Will have to wait and see if I am wrong.
I was wondering the same thing. My wife has a Saturn Aura, a vehicle based on GM's Epsilon platform, which was developed by Opel. Fiat also had a vehicle on this platform (Croma?). The Insignia was based on the Epsilon II platform, and was going to be the second generation Aura, but GM retired the Saturn division. At that point, that vehicle became the 5th gen Regal. The current iteration of the Epsilon architecture is E2 (also called E2xx), and it is still being used on current Buicks and Chevys. I don't think current platforms will be affected, and GM had already sold Opel and Vauxhall. I'd speculate there were conditional agreements allowing the continued use of the platform, but such speculation will require that I take an analgesic. On a lighter note in jest: Perhaps someone took the term "crossover" in the wrong way. :)
The Epsilon E2xx is being used by GM right now, the best examples being the 9th gen Malibu sedan and the current Buick Regal. The Regal is literally built in Germany and imported to the US, and it's the only current GM vehicle being built at Opel Rüsselsheim Assembly facility in Germany That's Opel's architecture, and it's also used on the current Insignia. The Regal doesn't just use the same platform as the Insignia--it's the same vehicle. Again, I think something was arranged to allow for this.
...Auto production in 2019 is MUCH different from a company perspective when Autos were first introduced as a invention of convenience and, to replace the horse. Today, to say these two companies are merging to save money isn't seen as a plus from a consumer perspective, because ALL automakers want the public to drive $60,000 vehicles ( or more $), and not $25,000 priced vehicles. Jeep being a example. What used to be a basic hauler transportation when introduced to the mass public, is now becoming a "froo-froo" upscale spelunker wanna-bee" hauler. FCA LUVS the attention, BUT at the expense of the percent of loyal customers that also LUV the essence of a sturdy, basic, reliable, person hauler. Used to be, these company made $ with income from sales numbers, not on over priced 12 inch flat screen consoles. Im all for survival of the fittest, but, I feel these mergers have nothing to do with the heart of automobiling, but, rather, manufacturing of automobiles companies response on life support. ( Chrysler/Dodge/and now, more recently Jeep, have already lost any heritage to the auto character they identified with for their first 40 years. At least this 65 yr old car enthusiast is numb to the mergers now. Ill maintain my 2008 Wrangler that was made in the shadow of Chryslers crumbling history of the time. I miss Chrysler being a American Company. No bear hug from a European manufacturer will ever give me a "warm n fuzzy" feel, or make me feel like my Wrangler deserves a ride through the Grand Canyon. Summary, PSA/FCA merger=Yawn.
If it happens, I think it's going to work. PSA CEO, Carlos Tavares, showed multiple times that he knew exactly what he was doing and that he was one move ahead of everyone.
Shame Tavares accepted a 50/50 deal, when in my opinion PSA has much better technologies than FCA... Financially the situation is far better for PSA, and their current cars are fabulous, DS7, 3008, 5008, 508, 308, C4 ..

Considering that PSA has purchased Vauxhall and Opel from GM (and that new Holden vehicles are made in an Opel factory), will PSA purchase Holden from GM?
its unlikely, but not impossible i think. Holden originally was part of the opel subgroup (opel, vauxhall and holden) that was bought by PSA, but PSA did not want Holden back than, cause they wanted to concentrate on the european market. with fca, the are more international/intercontinental and they might consider pickin up holden. tho it might be too late, holden is about to be killed by GM and due to the merger PSA and FCA have other things to do with their money.
Chrysler had one of the fastest concept-to-showroom cycle times and lowest development costs simply because they rushed underdeveloped product to market that resulted in poor quality and reliability. When battling Toyota, VW Group and Hyundai-Kia this is a fatal weakness.
Fiat, lancia, abarth are unusual. Chrysler and co. Will be good with better future with PSA and Tavares manager. Just keeping alfa and maserati alive...
Chrysler needs a comeback bad and with PSA's designers and if placed on a Peugeot platform, Chrysler could start making some serious luxury cars and possibly have a Volvo-like comeback. Jeep could use some quality tweaking also and Dodge seriously needs the axe already, that brand has nothing to offer besides some obnoxious muscle cars that are outperformed by electric cars anyway. They should take Fiat out of the U.S market also. I hope this merger will pump out some quality cars from Jeep and Chrysler. PSA has had good reliability over the last decade so hopefully they use Peugeot and Citroen platforms in the future rather than Fiat platforms. I'm excited because Chrysler and Jeep have so much potential right now.
For literal decades the Euro companies have been trying to figure out the US automarket. What they sell are expensive niche' cars that are very low volume in the US. Once again, I'm willing to bet they want in on the US's huge truck and Jeep market. PSA merging with FCA would expand that market to parts of Europe where the truck market really hasn't been due to tariffs and other issues. That's what FCA wanted in the 1st place. It's become a cash cow. Admit it, nearly every shared FCA to US platform has failed, or has been canceled after slow sales. Fiat America barely sells anything at all. And try as they might to push EVs and autonomous tech, the American market is not ready for it. Sales of EVs and even hybrids are still very low despite some models from Toyota being around for nearly 20 yrs. Now that diesels for US sale have a bad rep via VW, access to that market ( from Peugeot, Vauxhall etc) would be shaky at best for imports. I just don't see what the PSA group can off the US market. I DO see what the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram brands can do for THEM though!
FCA is almost dead, only their italian flair keeps them alive in europe, psa is a overperforming company with much better technology. FCA is the big winner, and psa has a foot in america now
Here is a simple way for Chysler to come back Bring back the K platform price them under 10K and they will sell. Make a base model with just whats needed like a 4 cylinder PS/PB Auto A/C Tilt CC Rear defrost Am/FM CD. Then you could add the options you want. Lee said this in his last interview. Make cheap cars that people want to buy. He made 70+ cars to minivans off of the K platform
So this basically means that most cars are going to be virtually the same. This is great for the companies involved. However for the consumer this is the worst possible outcome.
Culling the brands; DS and Ram should never have been marques in the first place, get them down to a single model line each and start putting Citroen and Dodge emblems respectively back on them. Lancia and Vauxhall are zombies - the former is down to a single aging model, the latter is just a name pasted on Opels sold in the UK for reasons that maybe made sense in the '70s.
Peugeot plans to come into the American car market by 2023 I think they changed it 3 ahead Peugeot really want to come back quicker than it had originally planned
Trouble is when PSA bought Opel / Vauxhall the brand has become Peugeot with a Vauxhall badge , I hope this don’t effect the other brands the same way , it’s crucial the brands keep their own ID within the group
Not true. Not true at all. These cars have still their identity, with less costs, and a common plateform. PSA did what GM Europe wasn't able to do in 25 years : make Opel and Vauxhal profitable.
GM failed with Opel since decades, in one year Opel became successful with PSA. For sur PSA can make miracles with Chrysler, like Renault with Nissan, but unfortunately it can't help PSA to grow in US market
I've seen quite a few Alfas on the road as of late. The demand is there. If nothing else they'll set up shop across town with all the other luxury dealerships thanks to their new gatekeeper allowing them access.

Well, for the people wondering about Dodge, consider that PSA isn't exactly a highly respected brand. So two dubious brands merging is likely to produce even worse quality. Think Fiat the first time around. At least it wasn't Nissan/Renault. Chrysler could use a small SUV badly, but a rebadged Nissan might seem insulting given their quality issues. Ultimately it's about survival for the company. If it's not profitable, it will likely be gone.

More than likely over half of them in the American market. Peugeot family owns a big part of this new alliance along with the french government so naturally they are bound to focus on the European market.
''They all have their history and unique significance...'' yeah. Lancia lives on in Italy because it's cheap, desirable and styish. kinda like fiat 500. My problem: ALL OF THEM CLASH. The new DS3 if released will shadow Lancia further... 208 ,Fiat Punto and Corsa will basically be clones from outside. The 500X = shadowed by Jeep Renegade, and now DS and new 2008. Maserati = shadowed by Alfa Romeo because of price.. + stylish Peugeot. Nobody buy Opel or Fiat SUV... they buy Peugeot, Citroen Alfa and Jeep. How I see it: Maserati, Opel, Chrysler = sell worst. Think from the other way around, a lot of mergers in the past would help the company to achieve global 3rd/4th, and they ended up in disasters. British Leyland (a result of merger of British car makers) was one, and don’t forget the tattered history of Chrysler. Fiat+Chrysler has already created some of the worst cars in the market, they went out-of-date without further development, such as Fiat 500 now compared to launch more than a decade ago, its comical reliability also marred the success of the brand. A merger to save FCA? I would rather it be a merger to kill some of the cars that overlap in the market or those sitting at a niche in a particular market. Travel outside North America to understand how well Chrysler and the American muscle cars are received globally. Not that they are not likable, but they are poorly made and gas-guzzling.

@@didierlemoine6771 Certainly. But for Dodge and Jeep, I can't really see how they could benefit from PSA.
Perhaps if Carlos manage to keep more cash for his company than sending it to shareholders.
Yes, the key is Tavares' attitude towards those two brands
@@bryanvogt3371 Since Carlos Tavares is from Portugal, let's hope for EVERYONE that he can stay neutral with his analysis.

@@robc8468 fiat saved chrysler, it would be dead by now.
I wonder how is the reliability on the cars when they merge
I don't have high hopes for either brands.
Peugeot outrank all German brand in terms of reliability, and Toyota use Peugeot engine, Peugeot is also making good performance car, as good as BMW while being cheaper, Peugeot proved itself in a lot of car competition.
American believes French car to be bad because Americans are Chauvinistic, Peugeot only made a handful of bad car, and they were never sold in the US
In the future new models on PSAs EMP2 platform could save Chrysler / Dodge just like the K-Cars did.
There is an americanized version fo the EMP2, yes.
Perhaps it can help Chrysler, with a modern and much cheaper than the daimler one.
But for Dodge, wow, I must admit I'm totally incompetent on that topic.
I would rather it be a partnership rather than a merger
This is starting to feel more and more like the Chrysler Daimler merger
Hopefully Chrysler will get the return of the aspen and Jeep will get the grand wagoneer again
Will Chamberlain hopefully it’s the real aspen. Not the Chrysler SUV version #Supercoupe
It was in a press release a few days after a certain know-it-all was dissin' other possibilities due to capacity (which said press release said they were opening a new plant for lol)
I'd be concerned for them changing the platform to something unsavory if this merger happens overnight at best.
The wagoneer will start being built at the warren assembly plant next year
It seems as though every company that merged with Chrysler always gut it ( reduce costs by whatever means necessary). Then change everything inside the business structure. This constant change is what makes poor quality in there cars. I don’t think this will be any different. Toyota does it best, copy who’s doing it good and make it better then leave it alone when it works.
Seems like when that happens the Chrysler brand always gets worse
OTOH every company that ever owned Jeep ended up far more dependent on Jeep sales and profits than is healthy for the company as a whole. Willys, Kaiser, AMC, Chrysler, D-C and FCA all fell into the Jeep Jinx.
What is gonna happen to the Dodge Charger when they decided to merge together. I am worried about my favorite car. 😨

dufonrafal Well, that’s a turbo 4-banger.

Good for Peugeot in U.S.A 🇫🇷🇺🇸
When Renault took over AMC operations in the early Eighties, it was a fail in terms of the French top down management style.

Hopefully with the merger this will mean a return of Peugeot and Citroen to the U.S
Why who besides you gives a crap if Peugeot Citroen is sold in the USA just like Fiat Americans decided we didn't want those brands decades ago.

@@pixelomelette7006 not really, it would be even more "cool" if they stayed home and reinvested the Ram and Jeep profits in USA and Canada in New RAM, Jeep, Dodges, and Chrysler products.
I hope so not.
I thought Vauxhall and opel were part of general motors
PSA bought them in 2017
I'm glad that they did not merge with Renault, and hope that this choice will be better.

What was to be with a beneficial merger with Daimler Mercedes ended up being a disaster for Chrysler.
in eu 2020, co2 above 95g gets expensive...
BS.
As long as the charger and challanger aren't tone down, ill be okay. Like i wouldnt mind if they brought back the neon even if its a rebadged PSA car.

Let's see what the future brings as far as this "Merger" is concerned...it seems to me that PCA is buying out FCA.
it's my thought too between PSA and FCA
I would of thought FCAs Ram and Jeep lineup, would of kept FCA afloat. From the outside looking in, FCA appears to have some serious managerial issues. Lastly, I don't think EVs will ever become a viable option for the masses, at least not for the foreseeable future anyways. Cars like Tesla for the most part, are just toys for the most affluent amongst us.

Wait.... so the Buick Regal uses the same platform etc as the Vauxhall Insignia, so FCA will be selling the same car as GM? Which PSA is already doing
Slowly PSA are getting rid of the GM chassis and moving to they're own so they don't need to pay GM
On a lighter note in jest:
Perhaps someone took the term "crossover" in the wrong way. :)
From what I head GM is actually using Opel chassis. Not the other way.
@@nicholasfield6127 well GM brought Opel in the 30s so if GM is using Opel chassis then that is truly ancient.
They should take Fiat out of the U.S market also. I hope this merger will pump out some quality cars from Jeep and Chrysler.

So this basically means that most cars are going to be virtually the same. This is great for the companies involved. However for the consumer this is the worst possible outcome.
I'd nice a nice manual French hatchback with a turbo four cylinder 🇫🇷
Culling the brands; DS and Ram should never have been marques in the first place, get them down to a single model line each and start putting Citroen and Dodge emblems respectively back on them. Lancia and Vauxhall are zombies - the former is down to a single aging model, the latter is just a name pasted on Opels sold in the UK for reasons that maybe made sense in the '70s.
if brexit goes, vauxhall is no more
true for ram, DS is different, ds is to cirtoen now, what chrysler is to dodge, but in a different section

Thank you, so much, for sparing us a ridiculous outtro.
When will the U.S Have the Citröen Cactus
sounds like kmart sears merger
Maybe but remember Fiat and Chrysler merged and it worked perfectly
Their vehicles now aren't really all that American. And really they need to focus on quality and electrification if they want to stick around.
Good video. Who will hold the finance captive?
If nothing else they'll set up shop across town with all the other luxury dealerships thanks to their new gatekeeper allowing them access.
peugeot is back in 2023, step by step with the company "free2move", a carpooling program (they already have their headquarters in Atlanta). Some talk about a large Peugeot SUV based on a Dodge chassis for sale quickly in the United States. After that will be the electric cars with autonomous features.https: //us.free2move.com/
If it's not profitable, it will likely be gone.
what's the point of making cars more complicated that break down more often, and cost a small fortune, that most people can't afford?? build a good looking car that gets fair gas milage that all people can afford. and it will sell like crazy!
I believe this merger is a good thing.
i fear a thanos snap coming if this is allowed to go through
and i'm not seeing FCA surviving that besides Jeep and Ram...
This is the reason I will be buying a 2021 F-150 instead of a Ram TRX.
Junk companies have come together.
Love the vids man
The only thing PSA is getting out of this is the north american market, other then that fca will ruin them.
Great job sir, i saw a merger coming bur not like this, Bravo
Maybe there will be better quality control on fca part and there will be less recalls on our brands here in the US.
What French cars are known quality?
@@robc8468 Well I met Chrysler vehicles here in the US. Like Chrysler, Jeep's, dodges, and Ram trucks.
@@bombidude How would that happen with more profits leaving the US to support low volume low profit Euro brands while Europe is in recession.
I bet if they would go back to producing the Chrysler K cars for 8,000 people would buy these up. Bring back the K platform
Glad I got my Redeye.
Should BMW merge with another company ? like Mercedes or Volkswagen ?
My brother made a rumor that that did happened
BMW is a company that does not du such things so quickly, after they made a misstake with rover back in the 90s.
and even if, they would not merge with a bigger or equal company
Lots of these brands will be gone
More than likely over half of them in the American market. Peugeot family owns a big part of this new alliance along with the french government so naturally they are bound to focus on the European market.
You forgot to mention the psa was in bankroup there fore Chinese and France state buy the share.
''They all have their history and unique significance...'' yeah. Lancia lives on in Italy because it's cheap, desirable and styish. kinda like fiat 500. My problem:
ALL OF THEM CLASH.
Fiat + Alfa =not gain much. Dodge + Rams= favourites with Americans if no reliabilty issues. Peugeot = gain most (with help of Alfa performance), then Citroen, then Jeep. DS=nobody cares. Lancia= SADLY disappear.
PSA and FCA merger sounds like a recipe for disaster to me
Yet another "Merger of Equals" disaster for Chrysler how much more stupid European management can a once proud USA company take?
@@robc8468 your comment is stupid. German mentality is different from french mentality, learn a bit of history.
Rob C the once proud american car maker was so great that failed and the “stupid” european management is the owner of chrysler...
@@mariogendarini3238 Thanks to Obama he made that stupid decision. Chrysler initially had plenty of cash and profits and was looted by the Germans in a fake "Merger of Equals" deal. Last I heard Germans were counted as Europeans.
@@robc8468 I did not know that, and I'm sorry for Chrysler.
Right now I'm pretty happy for this fusion and I hope all the car brand inside FCA-PSA can live another Golden Age... especially Alfa Romeo :)
They get Jeep and we get electric cars ?
and new modern and light hybrid plateformes :))
