he isn’t so good at all. He forgot to mention VRM and it’s heatsink is overkill. He also is completely wrong about ram. Not a single kit running 4 sticks will reach even close to 7000 mhz. Also you won’t get producitivity increase from higher clock speeds / more GB ram in productivity or even gaming, it really depends on each application. This guy just list spec sheet in a fancy way and that’s it. Also nvme heating up isn’t an issue, especially with a heatsink so his recommendation to leave the middle one empty is stupid. If you really worry about temps add a fan

Installed this last night with an i7 13700K. Ridiculously easy to install and looks great in the case. Definitely inspires confidence in terms of build quality. Mine is an all air build - all black with Noctua NH-U12A Chromax Black cooler. The heat sink just barely interferes with the rear fan but not by much.
For some weird reason, the WiFi driver wouldn‘t work on Windows 10. I had to upgrade to Windows 11 for it to function. Also keep in mind that there are two revisions of this motherboard: 1.0 and 1.1 - make sure to choose the correct driver. Revision 1.0 requires a MediaTek driver, revision 1.1 requires an Intel driver.

Another reviewer talked about the RAM, he said that if you plan to OC don't go for 4 slots filled but only 2 slots. He recommended 2x 24GB DDR5 RAM, or 2x 48GB if you can find them. Apparently the RAM controller works best with 24GB segments, and filling all slots means reduced overclocking, though some would rather have more memory than higher speed, so you might want to check into that.

Thanks for an enjoyable review of a great Z790 board! I just wish this board (and all motherboards) would have an LED hex post code display. Since I don’t overclock, maybe I’ll use this with an i9-13900 or i9-14900 once it’s available.
Yes, I'd like that too. My last build in 2012 was a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UDH5, and that did have the LED display which has been useful on many occasions. Still, I guess corners have to be cut with everything costing more these days. 😞
I used z790 elite ax with 13700k It has some major problems the most annoying one was the coil wine , and overclocking wise it has the most stupid bios I've ever seen Like you but a cpu ratio and save exit and maybe it's 100mhz lower, the e-cores overclocking was completely broken... I don't know if they resolved these problems and i think they are not , for me gigabyte has the most broken bios Oh yes the clear cmos button was not functioning at all .. Check please if this board have resolved these issues
Apparently this bios has a much nicer and usable user interface. I wonder if the infamous coil whine problem is still a thing with these newer boards though...
The reasons for coil whine most of the times are spread spectrum and 100mhz locking cpu bclk. Sometimes its from vrm zone which can occure on any board or even cpu itself (try aida64 memory benchmark for example)

No thunderbolt 4 in back i/o is a shame really...
Sank this thing into a Thermaltake c750 TG E-ATX case (MASSIVE badboy case), and mounted my RTX 4070 using a Coolermaster Vertical Card kit with a PCIe GPU Riser Cable (a decent length too!). I have ZERO issues with those 3x m.2 slots heating up! And a floating face-forward GPU looks super-dope!
I'd highly advise this.
So, WITH this board I have,
CASE - Thermaltake CTE 750 TG c750 ARGB (Black w/Tempered Glass, EXTREMELY good case for 2 chamber EATX builds)
PSU - Seasonic Focus GX-1000
CPU - i9 14900k Unlocked (Kryonaut Extreme)
GPU - ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 4700 TI Super O.C. Edition (Coolermaster Vertical GPU Holder Kit v3)
AIO - Corsair iCUE N150i Elite Cappelix (360mm - Front Intake)
RAM - G. Skill Z5 Trident x64GB DDR5 6000
3x Thermaltake 420mm Fans (Bottom Intake)
2x Arctic 420mm Fans (1x Top Exhaust, 1x Rear Exhaust)
3x Corsair mp600 Core XT nVME drives
Хвала!
Now thats a MASSIVE push in the right direction !!!!!
Dude could sell me an orange 200$...
What about the i9?
Getting it tomorrow morning. But yeah.... such a rip off....
@@Laurentschoice You had recommenced the i7 for the board, so I would normally go with an i9, so I look forward to the review. THANKS!!!
@@darkman237thanks, because I plan on pairing an i9 with this board and thought I just wasted three days of looking up parts. Not getting an i7
I always look at PCB layers! 8 minimum
I used z790 elite ax with 13700k
It has some major problems the most annoying one was the coil wine , and overclocking wise it has the most stupid bios I've ever seen
Like you but a cpu ratio and save exit and maybe it's 100mhz lower, the e-cores overclocking was completely broken... I don't know if they resolved these problems and i think they are not , for me gigabyte has the most broken bios
Oh yes the clear cmos button was not functioning at all ..
Check please if this board have resolved these issues
Apparently this bios has a much nicer and usable user interface. I wonder if the infamous coil whine problem is still a thing with these newer boards though...
@@posleterrible9542 i have similar question. I also have a z690 aorus pro and it has coil whine
The reasons for coil whine most of the times are spread spectrum and 100mhz locking cpu bclk. Sometimes its from vrm zone which can occure on any board or even cpu itself (try aida64 memory benchmark for example)
Hey, comparing 3 MBs which one do you think would be the best
Z790 AORUS ELITE X WiFi 7
Z790 MAG TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI
TUF GAMING Z790-PRO WIFI
Preparing a build, an upgrade package to be precise, and I'd like a word of advice on recommended motherboards
Aorus is the best out of these. Other two boards has 6 pcb layers, worse signalling and more heat on pcb, less ram oc capability
@@Tpecep Yeah, checked it out, and decided to go even higher end with the Z790-E Gaming Wifi II
Дуже позитивний мужик😅
$300 MB in greedy Australia that board costing $1800AUD
8266 on single stick.
I'm a bit disappointed with this review. Why did you keep talking about that motherboard thing when the real product is that absolutely SICK Astérix hoodie!
Bouahahahahahaha !@@@@
Watch the next video ! I'm going full Halloween !!!!!!
By the way... another 10 minutes without a comment from u and I was going to close my channel !
@@Laurentschoice Looking forward to the next video then! 👀
And I'll leave a comment I swear, what will we do without the best motherboard reviews channel otherwise :(
Wi-Fi7 isn't not supported by MS Windows 10 . No Driver for MS Windows 10. If you would the Wi-Fi with this motherboard with MS Windows 10, the only way is a buy an outboard Pci-e or USB. No solutions.
I don't even need a new Motherboard but i like to watch these as they are brilliant - how reviews SHOULD be done! Particularly if they increase your sperm count!!
Bravo Laurent!
Did I hear that price right? $300? No thanks. Z790 pricing is just silly across the board...no pun intended.
No... but ... strangely ... I feel that this board is much better than the z690 Pro which was proved around that or a bit more.
So don't look at it as an AORUS entry Level... it really is a premium product on its own merit
Biggest downside of this mobo is overkill vrm and extremely high price
👍 !!! 👍!!! 👍 !!!
the theatrics of your narrative is bothersome.
Was just about to post the same comment...I lasted 20 seconds and bumped him...bye

If you turn off the sound the video is actually watchable.
I'd normally be mad .. but I just tried watching the video with audio muted ... And it's a BLISS
