Isn’t it amazing how a song could bring back all those treasured memories you keep within your heart.
The Four Seasons had so many hits, but this is my favorite song of theirs. The key changes give it such an intensity.

Such an interesting piece -- the march-like character with accents on every quarter note. I can imagine the school band playing this when they are parading down Main Street, EXCEPT, as others have pointed out, the mounting tension with the upward modulations. And OMG when Vallie hits that "I'll, be strong..." toward the end in his high falsetto. Quite a piece!

JFC, what great music. I knew about and loved their 70s stuff, but this is pure gold. The producer did a brilliant job. I don't jack about music, but the perfect timing for the Season to join Frankie is stunning. What I think is a sax just makes this song so much better. I came across this song not long after I lost my dog. I had to stop listening because it brought back memories of that horrible day, but now it provides fond memories of my little girl.

When I was real young and didn't know anything technical about music, the fascination this song held for me was its continuing rise in intensity and excitement, even though they were singing the same words and music - "I'll be strong/I'll try to carry on..." Was it the arrangement, more emotion in their voices, different harmonizing? All I knew was it definitely intensified, and as a budding songwriter I wondered if just simple repetition could do that with a building arrangement. It can - check out The Cars' "Dangerous Type", but that's not what was happening here. I found out they were changing keys upward a half step, called a chromatic key change, and it's done FIVE times in this song. So the intensity I felt was largely due to those key changes, strategically placed by composer Denny Randell, lending some credence to the classical reference of the song title, and handled beautifully by all the singers. "Opus 17" is tied with "Mack the Knife" for the most chromatic changes in a hit pop song at five according to many references on and off the Internet. Anyway it's a great song, another in my beloved "happy music with sad lyrics" category, and I'll never get tired of it!

I thought so too, and then I remembered Tommy Roe's #1 hit from '69 which goes through 11 apparent key changes. Same idea, repetition being pushed forward by modulation.

Yes.A Great Composition which starts in F# Major and Modulates up to B Major increasingly..Creating upward tension.and of course the excitement.
We're in 2020, but this will always be my favorite type of music. I definitely grew up in the wrong generation. The world is crazy nowadays... this music takes me to a time of innocence.

Just a FANTASTIC tune; those melodies, the words, the tune, just wonderful. Hard to choose between this and The Night for me as regards their best, but really love this and always have. 'Child of the 60's'.

I was able to go and see Jersey Boys with my grandma a few years ago (one of many shows/oldies concerts I've seen with her) and I absolutely loved it! My husband bought me the movie for my birthday that same year. I grew up listening to everything my mom and grandparents listened to. This is one of my favorites by them
What a GEM this song is.....very rarely played on radio here in the uk....can almost guarantee its played alot over in the good old U.S.of A....where there music is by far the best.....especially with all there feelgood melodic harmony type of stuff .....anyway god bless and please remember to b kind to each other as good karma so important and also try to do something special for someone no matter how small it may seem at the time as it really does soothe the soul xxx 😇🥰❤❤❤😎

The beats are just "BOSS"....I'll be strong, just to carry on.....then the trumpet and sax kick in and....don't yo worry bout me (brave face from love lost and to put a "how the hell do you put a happy face on a love that you lost I will never know" but these guys made it sound like you lost a silly game that only tore your soul out of your heart!!!
