That bass is 🔥. Thanks Dad for having such great taste. RIP DAD 11/3/2020.
Am I to infer that your dad was the session bassist on this track by the 4 Seasons. That's very cool.
@@markmoriarty7388 That's Nick Massi. It would be the last hit he would play on. He also did the vocal arrangements. He quit after this song. He couldn't stand being on the road anymore. OCD before that even knew about it.
So Sorry for your Tremendous loss… I have loss both my Amazing parents so I absolutely Feel your Heartache & pain… And Yes your dad had Amazing, Phenomenal Taste in Music 🫡💜☮️🙏💋
I just saw him perform on 11/18/23. He sang for nearly 90 minutes and put on a great show. Amazing stamina for a performer who is 89.5 years old and has still got it. God bless him.
I have to say he hasn't really "got it". I saw him in the 80's and he was already having someone else sing the falsetto parts. Credit to him for turning out for the fans when he could have retired years ago though is one way of looking at it.
2024 !!!! Happy 90th Birthday Frankie ,Respect & Love 🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡🫡☮️☮️☮️💜💜💜🎊🎊🎊💯🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉💋💋💋💋💋🎁🎁🎁🎁🙏
Happy 90th Birthday Frankie, my favorite all time male singer. My Dad loved you guys.Much love from your fellow Taurus ❤
This is one of the best songs about staying together always rather than breaking up.
Its better to stay tigether
You say you gonna go and call it quits, gonna chuck it all and break our love to bits. My favorite verse.
I always loved the line, chuck it all. You hardly ever hear that word anymore, especially in a song.
56 years ago. Jersey Boys FOREVER.
This may actually be the most perfect song ever made
As a 65 year I am listening to this song. My favorite song.Frabkie Valli really hit's the high notes.❤❤❤😅😅😅
Can't get enough of this music group. 😂
Before the Beatles. They had the talent and voices. The Best!!!
These guys created a new sound between Sinatra and the Beatles. Fabulous.
Don't cool off while I'm burning - can't beat that sentiment!
2024 and still a great tune...an absolute American treasure...💯🙏🎶
45s, cassettes, reel to reels, and CDs will never let us forget this fantastic group.
Loved this group since the 60s. Absolutely love the saxophone.
That riff is great after the intro. Very rock and roll
My all time favorite group now and FOREVER!! FOUR SEASONS RULE!!!
This is one of the greatest songs ever recorded. Regardless of genre.
Defenately one of them brother ❤
It just be my favourite song ever
I was born in the late fall of 1978. I Love This Fantastic Recording and Song!
I'm 19 and this is the type of music that makes me wish I was born in the 60s
Do you know why i'd say its because your a cool cat, i was born in the middle of the 60's i come from a big family and most of my older brothers played all the beautiful music of the time mods first generation of skin heads whose main pals we're first generation of the Windrush that's where the love of ska and the rude boy came from it was a good time to be around i always ask questions about what we were all like back then and it always the same cool
1960 & it's been so much to have had this good music. I know all the words to all songs. My mother loved Frankie!!❤ Miss you Ma
I was born in 1962 i❤ my life
@iriswood3744 the 60s best time in the world
I was a teenager when this song came out in September 1965. What a wonderful time I had listening to it, I just couldn't stop playing it again and again on my record player. It was the beginning of a real pop music revolution that changed my life forever. How lucky I was to have experienced that period in time. I remember I used to have long hair combed in The Beattles style and wore tight jeans, T-shirt and white socks and leather moccasins. The happiest time in my life.
Weren't we lucky back then.. wouldn't want to be young today
Nor me, very difficult for the young generation right now we were blessed and I never realised it at the time!!!
Sadly, life in America will never be that good again... Ladies and Gentlemen, The Beatles!
. Totally ____A G R E E D. Y E S !!!!!
@@jackienuttall7549 I actually had a sense of how lucky we were. I grew up in the Bronx not too far from Yankee Stadium, and I somehow knew how culturally different and unique that sounds and times were. It was crazy and wonderful at the same time. A child could see it and I was, at the time.
An era when people were chill and music was real
Now that's good oldies but goodie
absolutely fantastic. Valli's range is phenomenal. And the music - the arrangement of it - is sheer brilliance. I am 47 and I will listen to Valli and the Four Seasons till the day I die.
With Covid-19 that could be sooner than you think. Keep well.
In my opinion, you are 100% correct! It is truly amazing how Franki Valli & The Four Seasons have stood the test of time well into the 21st century 😃
I have been an adoring fan since I was 12 years old and now I'm 46.
That'll be the day.
I just performed this song on sat night! I sing alot of his songs 😊 I was blessed with a high vocal range 🙏
@@peterandreadakis3851 That didn't age well.
1965. Denny broke up with me, the love of my life. I was sick. One evening walking down North Allen Street in Albany, NY wearing knee high suede boots and a suede coat, with the autumn leaves blowing across the autumn night, tears streaming down my face I all but gave up while he dated Arlene. I was a total wreck at the age of 20. Weeks later he broke up with the "other girl" and returned to me and married me. Let's Hang Up brings it all back..the agony and ecstacy of that golden place in time of the mid 19 60s
What a brilliant tale, glad it worked out 😊.
I listened to the lyrics recently,my wife left me 6 years ago and it made me well up listening to this song because it's how I was feeling back then
thanks for this story!😅
He must of made a nasty phone call to you. LETS HANG UP.
@@markmoriarty7388 Ha! A typo..sorry...I like your comment.

These 4 guys were in a class by themselves.
Franki and Al p. WOW soo mu h talent
"R.I.P. linda mary jones miller (1/23/1950-12/27/2005) & I'm sorry for threatening-you in the past but you will be missed by everyone always & forever amen".
72 years old and still love his music ! (1962 - 2022 )
62 years old**
You know a great record when you have it on repeat at least 5 times, a record that evokes great memories of your youth gets you dancing round the kitchen regardless of your aching body parts 😂 KTF✊🙏
One of the most underrated songs ever!
These guys! Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Nick Massi, Tommy DeVito! These harmonies are bliss! Thanks guys!
"R.I.P. elwood milo miller (4/1/1937-1/29/2019) & i still miss you everyday but the legacy lives-on & you'll be missed by everyone always & forever amen"
Name one song that has come out in the past 5 years that sounds like this masterpiece.
This song is genius in that it’s timeless and at the same time has that beautiful 60s sound to it.
If you can Frankie will sue them
Those we're the days! Amazing music!❤
This is literally my favorite song ever written.
What is your figuratively favorite then?

It's because it's the best song ever written.
@@danprice8809 Barry Manilow's version is better
3 years old, standing in my Grandmother's kitchen in northern NJ, and I hear this song coming out of a small transistor radio that set on the window sill over the sink. It was the 1st time in my life that I distinctly remember being mesmerized by music. I couldn't understand all of the lyrics, but I knew I loved what I was hearing! I consider this the 1st song I ever liked.
Me too
Down in our Philly basemnt ,loving n dancing, only Philly chicks ,Go On!!!!!Fantastic
Today I'm playing this in remembrance of my Biological Dad. Raymond Joseph De Sio. Today is his birthday. ♥️
Hes the trombone on this record......
He was a cross
between Jackie Gleason and Fred Flintstone.......He was funny.......One thing about him when he had a recording date....he was Early and showed respect for fellow musicians as well as Lead singer....
I've seen so many frontin holding a trombone but my Dad was the real deal.....g 💌
.
God bless your Dad for giving memories to his generation and mine. I'm listening to this song because when I was a little girl, my Dad who passed away, loved these guys, and I can see me dancing with my Dad. 🕊🕯❤
@@primo2018 thanks 🙏 it's bittersweet memories 💌
That is so cool
coolest arrangement ever. All the vocals are so pure. Seemingly endless little counter melodies abound. And no autotune here. Real authentic track. Such a sweet jam. Gotta crank this one up loud.
These guys really knew how to write great songs.
Bob Gaudio!!;-)
The Four Seasons' songs are amazing!
Love them all, each and everyone.
Timeless music, musical geniuses.
The Best!!!
I was nine years old when this incredible song came out. We danced to it -- everywhere.
Hearing them sing "patch it up" and "open up" makes me feel so hopeful 🙂💕
Hopeful is good. :)
Beautiful my moms and dads favorite song my parents loved the 4 seasons and now I’m grown and I’m 56 and still listen to the 4 seasons a dedication to my mom and dad
I was a young boy in the 4 Seasons heyday. I was instantly hooked on the unique, phenomenal sound. Never looked back!
I am 35 and I was raised on this music! Love it! I wish I was born back then!
One of the most beautiful love songs of all times, it's kind of a sad song but I've loved it since my teenage years and always will.
I love Barry Manilow's version better
No way way but each to his own.
The Four Seasons is a class act.
This is one of my most favorite songs of all time 🔥🔥🔥 I love it from start to finish! Real Music is timeless, it doesn’t matter when it was released it serves to feed, stir up and uplift the spirit and soul forever, as long as you can hear it! 🎤🎼🎹
Me too. It gives me an upbeat feeling whenever I listen to it. It's fun to sing along and dance to the music. Baby, baby, baby....stayyy!!

I was 7 when this came out, loved it then, love it now. 1965, what a year.
Frankie Valli and the four seasons one of the greatest groups from way back in the day. I'm so glad I grew up in that era and had a chance to listen to all this wonderful music and I just been browsing through RUclips having a ball today. Labor day September 7th 2020 in quarantine and don't know when we're going to get out? Everyone please stay safe and wear those masks!

Lyrics;
There ain’t no good in our goodbye-ing
True love takes a lot of trying
Oh, I’m crying
Let’s hang on to what we’ve got
Don’t let go girl, we’ve got a lot
We’ve got a lot of love between us
Hang on, hang on, hang on
To what we’ve got (Doo-woop, doo-woop, doo-woop)
You say you’re gonna go and you call it quits
Gonna chuck it all, and break our love to bits
(Breaking up) I wish you never said it
(Breaking up) No, now we’ll both regret it
That little chip of diamond on your hand
Ain’t a fortune babe, but you know it stands
(For a love) a love to try and bind us
(Such a love) we just can’t leave behind us
Baby (don’t you go), baby (no, no, no)
Baby (think it over and), stay-ay
Let’s hang on to what we’ve got
Don’t let go girl, we’ve got a lot
We’ve got a lot of love between us
Hang on, hang on, hang on
To what we’ve got (Doo-woop, doo-woop, doo-woop)
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do
I’d pay any price to get in good with you
(Patch it up) Give me a second turnin’
(Patch it up) Don’t cool off while I’m burnin’
You’ve got me cryin’, dyin’ at your door
Don’t shut me out, let me in once more
(Open up) Your arms, I need to hold me
(Open up) Your heart, oh girl, I told you
Baby (don’t you go), baby (no, no, no)
Baby (think it over and), stay-ay
Let’s hang on (girl) to what we’ve got (girl)
Don’t let go girl, we’ve got a lot
We’ve got a lot of love between us
Hang on, hang on, hang on
To what we’ve got (Doo-woop, doo-woop, doo-woop)
So true
Absolutely fracking cracking

They were just fabulous!
When I was a kid I would hang out at a neighbor's house where an older teenage girl lived. She had good taste in music and she would let me play her records and I played this song over and over. Great memories.
Barry Manilow's version brings back better memories for me
WOW, brings back some better times, and alot better music for sure. You cannot listen to this and not want to sing or dance or both. One of my all time favorites. Great Stuff.
Love the beginning and the bass line.

That little chip of diamond on your hand ain’t a fortune babe, but you know it stands for our love. Simple. Poetic. Beautiful.
That's my favorite line from the entire song, (which has some great lines), & it's probably a lot of people's favorite in the song. I looked up the lyrics at lyrics sites online & they say "for your love," which doesn't make as much sense to me. I'm sure a lot of people sing it the way we sing it - "for our love" or even "for my love." You're right: simple, poetic, beautiful.
Love that line.
@@AJ-yw7hf i always said "for the love", as its simply the backup vocals reinforcing his lines
