I was there at that exact concert. I still remember as clear as day after all these years. I was only sixteen at the time and now I'm 68 years old turning 69 in February. What a good time seeing them live.
that's incredible!
NICE
69 lol
Cap
Sir i am 37 yrs old im jelous of you
Very impressive how Valli could control his falsetto in a live performance. He sounds better than on record!
Not so sure that was a live performance. No microphones and almost every group lip synched their songs just in case someone messed up.
scuzzydirtbag Of course, you may be right. It's hard to tell. But there are a lot of close ups, which is brave of the director if their lip synching wasn't impeccable. I'm still impressed.
scuzzydirtbag I think they would've used a boom microphone hanging just up and out of camera shot. I'm not one of these people that think just because they were great that this must have been live, in fact I commented on another of their videos that the musicians were asked to mime, but in this case I do believe it was live because the vocal tone differs from the recording and back in those days you didn't record a 2nd version to mime to you would mime to the original recording (as FV & the 4 seasons did in some of their bigger production performances).
You may well be correct. I just can't tell. Anyway thanks for the comment.
scuzzydirtbag I see absolutely nothing in this video to indicate that it is not live. This was a group with real talent. They could do it live and this is evidence of that. Not many groups today can say that.
Memories of the early sixties when my friend David Martin and I would hitchhike all over the San Bernardino mountains.
Frankie Valli was probably 5' 6" tall and 140 lbs. soaking wet but with a voice like that he could take on King Kong and come out on top.
This guy was a fucking MONSTER. And on top of all that ........he's Italian
RcUniverseGuy it's a spicy meat-a-ball
We won't hold the Italian thing against him, right Mike??
Yuck yuck yuck
My father saw him early in newark at the Boys Club in the 40s
The Italians in the 50's and 60's had major swag!
They sure did
When I was 17 my sister snuck me into the inter circle in Clinton when Frankie Valli was there I got to dance with him ,I was but a very young girl, he made my heart putter.
The good old days ;)
Yeah and now it's fuckin Jersey shore and growing up Gotti. Lol
We did.
Rag doll is just brilliant....Valli might be the best of all time
No one hit those notes like Frankie, and the harmonies were always perfect.
Ever hear of Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys?
Jeff K The Beach Boys!
Barry Gibb came after Frankie, I think he had an inspiration with Frankie's voice, he's the only one of The Bee Gees who's still alive.
It’s called falsetto.
The Eagles - Randy Meisner could hit some pretty high falsetto notes also.
Outstanding talent.
No lip syncing, real live performance. This is simply great!
ummm you do realised sometimes singer in the 50s-60s use lip syncing way before it was even popular
@@dherilranacp Not this time though
@@dherilranacp lol no
Where is the drummer or their mics?
@@Scrimjer Drummer is off to the side (not a part of the group).Mics are overheads out of camera shot. Probably RCA 44-BX Ribbon. Used all the time on live performance TV back in the day.
Frankie Valli’s falsetto is tremendous here! I think it even sounds better than the records.
And the records are really good!
Saw Frankie in Boston just the other day on March 23rd. What an amazing night it was. I took my Mom and my wife. I'm still blown away by the show. It was fantastic. It was an honor to have witnessed him still doing his thing 60+ years later. Been a fan my whole life. I gotta tell you, the kid still got it. Great times.
I just went and saw him the other day. Absolutely amazing, and a once in a lifetime experience.
Before the Beatles arrived the Four Seasons were the biggest group in the world!!
Powerful voice and wide range, and realize Frankie's not using auto tune or enhancements like they do now days. He's the real deal singing real notes.
Amazing
When music was real. Nothing but talent. No auto tuning. Nothing but the classics.
Back when people could actually sing. Simply amazing
yeahh
+lexie belle They still can .
+double42 they really can't, today they use auto tune, but I guess I can say they can sing ok without it, but most songs today don't have a meaning, back then they had more meaning to it
Do you really believe that every single artist of this century " can't sing " the thing is you have to LOOK for music, you just listen to the radio and think that that's how all the newest music is like. I know a whole bunch of talented new artists, I didn't wait for it to fall down on my lap, I simply searched for it.
+Suga kpop I'm just saying that most songs today don't have a meaning like back then
In about the mid ‘80s, I worked as a banquet beverage manager. For New Years Eve we had a package deal for overnights guests. It involves my crew and bartenders setting up over 20 mobile bars, 6 in the main ballroom, every private suite in the hotel, etc. I didn’t even know who the band for the ballroom main event. I was busy setting up the ballroom bars, and the band was onstage setting up to do their soundchecks. I had my back to the stage. They were powering up. They suddenly broke into Sherry, and the hair on my whole body stood up- I was speechless. Completely blown away at how great they sounded. I’ll never forget it.
Well Tom Jones that's not unusual
I don't think they ever made a bad song. I miss musicians having talent like this.
What a brilliant bass player and vocal arranger Nick Massi was.
Nice Thunderbird.
I thought Bob Gaudio (sp?) did most of the arranging?
Nick did most of the arrangements. After 1965 when he left I think it was Gaudio.
Craig Hallen: Frankie Valli called him a genius but said he had OCD before people knew what that was and should have never gotten into the business.
Didn't Valli say that Nick had an eight-octave range?
Tommy DeVito one of the original members of Four Seasons passed away from COVD-19 today 9/22/2020 Broadway musical “Jersey Boys.” Rest in Peace such talented … God Bless You..
I am 14 years old and I absolutely love Frankie Valli!! His music is just outstanding!!
Wow! You're 20 plus now
@@jonburrows2684 lmao
Great taste in music
Do you still listen?
Hey Hil
I grew up listening to metal and hard rock. I kind of overlooked this kind of music, but did hear it on the radio. Now I cannot get enough. 55 years old and a new Frankie Valli Fanatic!!!
Same
Truly one of the very best vocal group, in music history.
My ALL TIME favorite show.
The good old days, very nice music, good memories.God help us.
Nothing better than live music, no lip sync, auto tune, special effects or other tricks, just pure talent, the way it should be. I love it!
yeah used to be you could go to a bar on weekends and hear live music
I wish I had a time machine and you know watch this man in his prime
that would be awesome!!
+Jed Lahaman I got to see them live in about 1967 or 1968, from the 4 th row of a concert hall. It may just be this recording, but they were distinctly better when I saw them. At that time, they were just "The Four Seasons." The " concert hall" was the converted basketball court of the little University I attended then : Tennessee Tech. On the fourth row, you got to see the sweat on Frankie's face, as he put so much into singing. It was a great night. The University is half way between Nashville, and Knoxville which must have been the reason we were able get them to perform at such a small venue. Seems like it lasted two hours with a break in the middle. It was awesome. The drawback, is today , I'm an old man looking at 70 years old soon. Those guys were great.
Saw em at the Starrett City Brooklyn site playing "on the grass" , from maybe 20ft. / just a few "rows" back , they played everything - no lip sync , and all the high notes , an unforgettable treasure .
Yeah
I just got back from watching him live, and holy shit, He can still sing GREAT. He wasn't just good by old singer standards - he was good by the standards of all concerts.
Probably the most underrated talented group in the history of music.
Underrated by who? They had a string of hits and sold a ton of records . So why e were they underrated??
The melodies in the 60’s were just soooooo damn catchy, simple, amazing and get stuck in your head for a lifetime 😎😎😎
Thank you for sharing this beautiful music never get tired of it 😘
One of the greatest singers of all time.
They're one of a kind, and their songs are timeless! I never get tired of hearing them.
How can anyone not like this timeless music.
This is so amazing the amount of talent on stage performing is very beautiful.
And that's why the 4 Seasons survived the British Invasion. They had a sound like no other.
Them and The Beach Boys
@@user-gd7kn1qq6n Yes but being from the Northeast .... we leaned towards the 4 Seasons. What the hell did we know about surfing ? lol :o)
Frankie had a million dollar voice
True 🤙🏻
Rag Doll is like the original emo song...man it just grabs you. What a voice & set of voices.
Rag Doll still makes me cry tears of joy... i was 12 yrs old when this song was playing on AM radio...a cheap transistor radio made in Japan. oh, such great memories of boyhood and innocence...such a lovely song, of pure love.
I get a crick in my neck watching Bob Gaudio perform with his head 90 degrees sideways the entire time! But Bob and Frankie are the best.
Rest in Peace Tommy DeVito, you will be missed
I wonder if this is why NetFlix highlighted this movie today
@@steve121758 if it was then they made the right move I watched it 2 times a day for months until they removed it
From Belmont Ave in Belleville NJ
i love how confident they look
they were already up there
They had every reason to be.
All these years later, and it still sounds great. Never was or will be anyone like The Four Seasons. Rest in peace, Nick and Tommy
@James Thanks for the reply. All is well, and I hope the same for you
@James New Jersey., But Annbo is in Austin, Texas now with our niece having a vaykay on a horse farm.
@James Hi James, no worries, we live in New Jersey, but Annbo is in Texas now. Awesome physical condition, even deeply into her middle life. Thus the nickname “Annbo” I’m her guy. Sorry for the confusion, our best to you. Great backstory first time I was backstage with Frankie in the seasons. We played a little joke on her
@James Tom.
no autotune no fancy sets .just pure talent and incredible harmonies turning out great tunes
Fabulosos les quiero son los mejores me acuerdo de mi adolescencia y los amo
1/13/23 I finally got to see Frankie in concert. He came to Marietta, GA to a sold out crowd. We sat in the 8th row orchestra level and loved every minute of it. I was singing along and I'm glad my wife Deb TOLD ME we were going. Love to my wife and love to Frankie. Keep going strong.
Absolutely brilliant. Wow, that’s what I call music. Not today’s crap. 50s, 60s, and 80s music was absolutely amazing.
Jersey boys movie brought me here , Damn Tommy has that David Ruffin , Bobby brown energy , an antihero
I was already loving this video but when they segued into Ragdoll I was so moved by the beauty of it I broke down into tears. Yes, tears literally streamed down my face because I was overwhelmed by the sweet harmony of their voices and the sweet, poignant lyrics and melody of Ragdoll. Today's contemporary music simply does not have as profound an effect on me as the beautifully written and beautifully sung music of the '60s. It was truly a magical and golden era for music.
I actually carry little foam earplugs with me when I shop because I can't take the horrid crap they play in stores loudly over the speakers. If they played music like this - and I remember it well from high school - I'd have a much nicer shopping experience!
@@MzKlara Should have been around to see them live on our local WFIL Tv #6 American Bandstand. There are some talented performers today, too. However in many cases the personal relationship to the audience is gone.
I have the exact same reaction--still do listening to their songs!!!
most of today's music sucks and 13% of it is just plain violent and vulgar
50's to the 80's were songs that made sense and meant something
i miss the 70's, great time to be a kid......
I'm only 12 and I love this kind of music
THIS IS THE SHIT RIGHT HERE
Such a class act, Frankie had/has such pure talent. I think he's now 87yrs. old and still has that awesome voice range. Great music. Thank you John Leach for this video.
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were the best and always will be!!! 😃😄😀😜
Nick's bass is so up front in this clip, you can really hear what a great bass player he was. If I was learning bass guitar playing, this video would be invaluable. What a great band
Great music from back in the day.
Absolutely incredible ❤ my father taught me about Frankie Valli when I was a little girl we don’t have singers like him anymore 😢
ONE OF THE GREATEST AND MOST LOVED GROUPS. HAD ONE SPEAKER IN MY CHEVY TURNED UP LOUD WHEN THEY CAME ON.
Incredible! So rehearsed. They really cared to to do the hard work to be the best.
Ain't nuttin' like Da Four Seasons. Haha. I have their greatest hits in my car's cd changer. 30 songs and one jewel after another. Perfect!
This is excellent musicianship- and they likely played live daily so making these sudden key changes, tempo changes, and mood changes is just a testament to how pro these guys were - one of my favourite groups of all time
Agree, they were fantastic. No wonder they held their own with the British invasion and Beach Boys
@@freddell7358 They were very popular here in the uk back then. I remember their records being played at weddings in the 1960's, and the dance floor would be full!

I'm so obsessed with the four seasons! Jersey boys did an amazing job.
Great group just shows us. That everyone has issues. Look at all the problems that one member created
This is Frankie Valli and the four seasons not jersey boys
That falsetto!!!! Gotta love Frankie Valli!
HE'S THE BEST!!!!!
salchichadegrasa Agreed!
What impeccable vocals! And nobody sings like Frankie. Watching these guys brings a tear to my eyes.
Great. This is best quality videos of the four original Four Seasons when they were playing live. Those days back when they had only a drummer and they played the instruments themselves. Great.
agree Rick!
Franky Valli is still out there performing.
Jersey Boys nailed it :D
Dilbert T. Witkins I have to disagree with you, I was not so much a fan of the film.
Robert Perez I agree
Robert Perez Nobody else I've heard has a falsetto voice like Valli's. Young was ok, but not Valli.
Of course no one cant sound like Frankie! But young did one damn good job in the movie.
Jeffery Frisone Check out King Diamond
One of the best falsettos to ever live.
I was just at Frankie Valli’s concert the other night in Radio City and Bob GAUDIO made a special appearance!! He walked right by me and I got to say hi and meet him!! Such a cool experience
What a group!!There will never be another original Four Seasons with Frankie Valli!
Rag Doll best song ever
I seen Frankie about 15 years ago, he was slim trim, , that motivated me to lose weight, im at 150
Bty that dude can SING
My great grandpa owned the bolling ally they used to go to.
TheFourSeasons bowling alley?!
And the person who called TheFourSeasons , TheFourFellons ?
really?
***** lmfao

Pure talent. It doesn't exist anymore
Frankie is amazing, Bob is amazing, Nick is amazing even though he is dead, and Tommy is amazing. I love The Four Seasons so much! :)
Wow. This is live. They're playing. Great Stuff.
Man, life was so good in those days! Lord take us back to where the days were simple and loving!
Absolutely love Franki Valli. My childhood was built on his music.
I HAD THE PLEASURE TO PLAY WITH NICK MASSI IN THE 70S. WHAT A GUY.
+tony castellanos And they were never the same...or as good after Nick left in 65.
Met Frankie about 20 years ago backstage at one of his shows. Nice man and great well produced show. All the bells and whistles. At the time he was using in house sound guys. Outsiders basically and i knew one of them that controlled Franks mic that night..He was left baffled by the experience...... lets just say Franks a gangsta..lol
Please tell me more, have always loved his performance and voice.
I am 75 and have been loving ❤️ them since I was 16
Remember working as a venue crowd controller back in the early 1970s in Washington, DC when the Four Seasons appeared. As a Haitian young man I found the gig very interesting. 🎶🎵🎼🙂😉😀
Amazing voices, all of them, wow!! They make it look easy!!
I lived in Richmond VA when I
was a 13 at the time lived by the theater that they were playing couldn't afford a ticket to see Frankie Valie.si we kids would stand in the stage door and dance Anniston to the FOUR SEASON'S OH WHat a Night I'm 71.now and these guys never stopped being icons of ROCKNROLL AND EVER SO GREAT EVERY SHOW WAS WORTH THE MONEY AND T G EY ALWAYS PUT THEIR HEARTS IN EVERY SONG
What a performance, the four of them, simply singing,no daft body movements, obviously well enjoying themselves
Sheer Class
you can imagine a young shy Brian Wilson bursting to sing in alto and Frankie not only showing it can be done , but with complete conviction confidence and masculinity
some real talent on display here
Classic 60's Music! Nothing like it; it will be around FOREVER!
youtube is great..... always heard these guys in the background throughout my life wherever I went, but just appreciating the hell out of them right now !!!!!!!!!
RIP Tommy DeVito Thanks for all the great memories!
AFTER 50 YEARS, FRANKIE VALLI IS STILL ALIVE IN OUR HEARTS.
my grandmother loves this song so much
Went to see him at the Royal Albert Hall in June (2022) while in England visiting family. At the unbelievable age of 88, he had us all on our feet, we just wanted more from this amazing vocalist
I've watched this... gosh.. 50 times.. I just love them.. gosh to see them live I bet was a treat.. such tallent... that voice.. Dawn.. and Don't you Worry about me are my 2 favorite songs by them.. just amazing..!!

It was EUPHORIA to see and hear them live!!!
These dudes are impressive I sing their song at school everyday I’m not afraid these guys showed any voice is good they my favourite singers RIP nick Massi he’s about 100 now love you four seasons
Great performance. They are singing wonderfully and those Thunderbird guitars have that quintessential early 60s rock sound. The Rag Doll harmony is so heavenly and poignant. And last but not least Bob Gaudio is pumping it on the organ.
There's is no comparison to how amazing these guys are fantastic harmony they are the best love them girl from iowa
This is my kind of music. I love Frankie Valli !!! BTW I'm 13 yrs old.
Serena Twedt yep my fav is Liam
I saw many singers/groups back then, but, unfortunately, not these guys. They are truly great, and wish I could have.fantastico
I saw a tribute of the four seasons on a cruise and with my family growing up loving Frankie Valli, i had to check out all of their music.
Some of the best music i've heard in a long time. Love this kind of style.
It's so amazing to see these lads singing and playing their instruments LIVE like this! Thanks so much for posting it.
❤❤❤❤❤❤Pure talent at it's best...no jumping around throwing stuff ....just standing AND SINGING
AMAZING ❤❤❤❤❤
Frankie and his four, the epitome of 60s great harmony
Went to see them in 1967 in Pa.The only concert I have ever gone to that the songs sounded just like their records. And yes they sang live. We had front row seats. Loved them.
SO Jealous..... I often wish I was born a few decades earlier (1988 model, myself)
lol Rub it in...lol..proud to be 65! I have a daughter 45 Tamara and a son in Heaven that is forever 37 (40)(Colin) as of Mother
s Day. Lost him and granddaughter Sadie forever 4 in house fire 9/18/11. He died a hero, got his 6 yr old son out and went back into inferno to find Sadie. He would never want to live 1 second without his kids. We are raising his son, Colin now 8. Sorry, I run on at the mouth too. Mark, you would have loved the late 60"s and 70's.
I saw them in 1964 at Freedomland, The Moon Bowl , in The Bronx, New York. - I was 13 years old then. First concert I ever saw ( I begged my parents to take me after hearing on the radio that they'd be there) and still remember it quite vividly. They were GREAT !!!
Lucky you!!!!!
yes, back in the late fifties and early sixties we rated groups as to how they sounded LIVE---how close they could reproduce their sound LIVE compared to the record---THE 4 SEASONS were the best---Frankie was AMAZING with that falsetto---it would blow the roof off !!!!!
3:20 a voice like this can truly bring a man to tears
Brilliant !
Hi
Absolutely
💋
Fantasic. I love valli's voice so much.
Just saw Frankie Valli August 25 and his voice was just as good as this video. He put on a great show, billed as the Four Seasons, but sadly none of backups were original. He is a rock n roll icon, for sure!
This is an excellent group with great harmony! All of their songs are great and Rag Doll is my favourite.
I fell in love with these guys as a teen and now as a grandmother, they still melt my butter!
Legendary Greatness, the likeness we will probably never see again… 👍
Loved these guys, never get tired of hearing them!
