When DBT classes were first becoming available my mother was kicked out of DBT because she "wasn't ready." Probably she was disrupting class. Eventually my mom found a talk therapist and she visited him once a week for most of the rest of her life. He had her journal her thoughts and feelings and she wrote enough to fill several boxes. I still have her journals but I haven't read them -- I'm not sure I should, since they weren't written for me. Yet she left them for me. I can't say talk therapy helped her much. Yet the last years of her life were by far her most peaceful. She moved to a smaller community away from her family and friends who triggered her. Her new neighbors and the storekeepers around town valued her a lot. She was a charming part of that low-pressure environment.

I write this with true sincerity...I appreciate how intentional you are with using tact and sensitivity to hard topics. There is no doubt that you have always been intelligent, however, I think your social emotional awareness literally speaks volumes! You're doing a great job!

Aw, thank you so so much! That means more to me than you probably know. I have so much empathy for people struggling in these areas, and of course my own personal experience, so I do my best to show understanding while being careful to be as accurate as I can in my explanations. I'm trying hard to fight misconceptions, not add to them.

Thank you for the work you are doing, I appreciate it very much! I don't have bpd but I think my girlfriend does and I've not only been sharing them with her but I've been watching them myself to hopefully understand her more. I say girlfriend but I think she broke up with me again so I guess she is my ex? She has done this several times though so who knows. You are very informative and I appreciate the humor you include in your videos, it really helps. I subscribed and I hope my girlfriend or ex did too, I think it would help her alot.

Thank you so much for your efforts! This is going to be a great series! As you mentioned Dr. Fox I'd like to add his deck of BPD self help cards. They are great!

It's hard to let go of a gf who drinks to excess at times I met her trying to help her+ than realize I'm obcessed

That is very difficult, even without BPD. Have you read into codependent relationships? They aren’t always based around addiction, but it’s not uncommon, and pwBPD often tend towards codependent relationships. The “trying to help her” and then being obsessed are potential indicators.
