    Hi Elizabeth, I revisited your awesome Abstract Flowers tut this a.m. and discovered a reliable workaround to the Hair Root count update problem, that does not involving scrubbing, randomly, until it chooses to cooperate ;) - If you bring the Guides / Root /Count down to 1 and then move back up to 170 or whatever, if refreshes in the viewport, in real time. FYI. Keep up the great work.

    • @TheFriendsOfMotion
      @TheFriendsOfMotion  2 года назад +1

      Hi henmi great question and I probably should have mention it😬. Use the feather object instead of hair(just under the hair icon in simulate tab). Move the helix underneath the feather as a child. To change the length of those hair go to feather tag object /spacing/barb length. Let me know if it works. I couldn’t figure out how to add the turbulence with feathers though. (Edit) I’ve made a video of this in my shorts

      Thank you for the short video!!
      At present I couldn't find how to add the turbulence with feathers either.
      The way to do that seems to use xparticles. I'll try again some time.
      Temporary fix I've made is to add a sweep to the spline. Use surfaces as the base for the hair.

      @@TheFriendsOfMotion Awesome tutorial! Can you tell us if there is a specific reason why you switched from Octane to Redshift? still a little overwhelmed with which render engine to learn. Went with octane demo for now

    • @TheFriendsOfMotion
      @TheFriendsOfMotion  Год назад +1

      @@normalrender I loved octane but since c4d bought redshift there are way more support, constant updates and it get’s better and better with each release. I feel octane you can get instant cool renders but to get it to the next level of realism redshift nodes are better- and now that I’m use to it I actually find nodes therapeutic like layers of paint on a canvas. Still think octane is way easier and quicker for a beginners but once you put in some hours with redshift , you can learn the basics in a few days and you will see how much it improve your looks …just my humble opinion but people might disagree

    • @TheFriendsOfMotion
      @TheFriendsOfMotion  2 года назад +1

      Really good question. I tried but it’s hard since the shape is not straight. There was a radius around the hair input that I think made a difference but unfortunately it’s not like soft body colliders…or at least I couldn’t figure it out, it might be possible.

    • @TheFriendsOfMotion
      @TheFriendsOfMotion  2 года назад +1

      Mmm , good question, since the length is dictated by the c4d hair tag I think you need to do it in that c4d tag but I don’t see a way to ad a vertex node anywhere. I’ll let you know if I figure it out or perhaps someone else can comment here if they know.
