  • A few months ago I've ordered a set of wood piercing cutter, but I was shy using them. I didn't know how. So I took the plunge and just tried it, and guess what? I managed to transform an old project into something really special. Check out what and how I did the Filigree Tree using woodturning and piercing.

      You're welcome Gord!! And mind you, don't listen to people who say that you can't do piercing work with a Dremel... sure, a professional system works better, but we are measured by what we can do with what we have, not by what we can't do with things we don't have.

    Thanks Yuval for, not only your time, effort and patience in making the content of this video which is stunningly beautiful. But for putting together the video and making it accessible to RUclipsrs like myself.
    So glad I have been a subscriber to your channel for a while now. Some of your projects have been a base inspiration for a few of my own creations.
    One of my Dremel 3000's has been in a drawer for over a year, now, thanks to your easy Dremel fix video I shall be resurrecting the redundant machine. (Hoping of course that the problem is a broken winding wire).
    Anyone who has a Dremel should think about taking note of your fix video for future reference.
    Regards and best wishes to you, until your next adventure, take care.

      The real question is...
      How many times did you grab the CA glue, with it being only your second go at this form of delicate art work?

    • @yuvallahav
      @yuvallahav  4 года назад +1

      The real answer is... three times. But not because I messed up the piercings. If you look at the piece itself, when I turned it, it was full of cracks which I sealed off with CA before applying the finish. So when I pierced the wood, some of those glue up didn't make it past the vibrations of cutting the wood and I had to re glue them. A lot less than what I expected for a piece this thin, if you look closely, some of the wood is less then half a millimetre wide at some places.

    That came out AMAZING, especially considering you did it with a dremel! I've tried piercing with a dremel before & it's never worked - dremel just runs too slow, wants to follow the grain, and the wood pulls the cutter where I don't want it to go.

    • @yuvallahav
      @yuvallahav  4 года назад

      Thank you! A lot of people (mainly on Facebook) have discouraged me from using a Dremel for piercing, but so far it seems to be working just fine. I did only pierce thin things so far, so might be for something bigger I would need a faster machine. Mind you, I didn't even run the Dremel at its top speed, I had one more number to go up to if I felt it was too slow. The point is, I don't have money for a dedicated piercing/carving machine, and almost anyone I know with a shop has a Dremel or something similar, so now they know it can be done.

      You can see the link to where I bought the cutters in the video description, they are not diamond, and they are not very expensive. I like your channel! Give it time to grow and make sure you publish your work (and the link to your channel) on other social media (Facebook, tweeter, Instagram), and you'll see it grow. Loved your Banksia pod pot!

      Thanks Howard, I always appreciate an honest opinion. Some of my videos are proper instructional, but on some I don't feel like explaining or talking, so they are just "look at this" type of videos.
