That $250 offer for an Epiphone is a very fair offer, and has to be the highest offer for such a guitar at a Pawn Shop I've ever heard of. I think that after all the problems are fixed, there won't be alot of profit left in it.
@@Chris11249 - it had Seymour Duncan's. Those humbuckers could be $100 alone. $250 was very fair considering he may part out those SD's. He'll double his money easy.
250 is more than I would have offered...$200 seems right to me but regardless with the Duncans in there, he can sell that thing for $400-$450 easily and bring in an easy $200 profit.

The art of negotiation Works in both directions. You have to know when to be tight and when to be compromising. If you don't have a good handle on both of those sides of the transaction then you're just going to be an also ran.
The hole next to the neck pickup is from the removed pickguard. That replaced pickup is a Seymour Duncan humbucker and an upgrade from the stock Epiphone pickups. You were a good guy for giving him 50 bucks more then his asking.
It was kinda foolish though, epiphones are a dime a dozen much like Mexican strats. New theyre 6/1200 but resale is basically half that just like a Mexican strat new 800 could barely get 400 the next day
We just found that exact model, they were $349 models new but are neck through design with binding in mint condition. If that one you have is a neck through(neck not bolted on) One solid piece from neck to horns. If there’s horn cracks it’s worth nothing $0. Used today they’re $250 in full working condition complete. You need $100-$150 for new GOTU tuners. $60 for a set of knock off matching tuners.
Fyi when you buy guitars you should check the back cover and make sure the electronics are kosher. I noticed the bridge pickup was also cracked. I would buy that les paul and fix it up if it was in the area
If someone countered my quote AFTER I tried to be fair and offer more than they originally wanted, I think I would say "Have a nice day, but not interested now". But, Pete is a good guy and overlooks people lack of appreciation and greed.
That hole on the Les Paul is done by the factory. It's common for guitarists to remove the pickguard after purchasing it if they prefer that look more.
I would probably have taken some of the anomalies from the casette box like the sealed Chinese one the old man got on a plane in the early 90s. The reason I go to pawn/thrift shops to find weird and uncommon stuff like that.
That Duncan bridge pickup is a great upgrade to the Probucker pickup these generally come with and more than makes up for the missing key buttons and the missing poker chip. I think you hit the nail on the head with your valuation of this Epiphone LP TIP-: always take off the truss rod cover and make sure that there is plenty of thread showing, if there isn't, it means that the guitar neck has had significant movement and has had to have massive adjustment, when a guitar neck has had so much movement that you have had to use all of the thread on the truss rod it is not worth buying as that movement will continue and will no longer be able to be adjusted for with the truss rod.
I’m glad that you didn’t try to beat that guy up on price for his Jordan stuff. Sometimes people are desperate for money and I appreciate how you didn’t take advantage of that.
Why is there always a guy at every Pawn Shop exactly like the guy at 11:37 in the background? Same clothes, same face, same junk to pawn. And is a regular at the shop!😂 I'll bet his girlfriend is sitting in the car in pajamas and fuzzy house shoes. He's driving a grey 4 door car with unmatching white doors and has one spare tire mounted. 😂😂

That wheel that's likely from a fancy steamship maybe if its real. They would have a HUGE wheel that took 3 men and a boy to turn but that was for when they didn't have steam. In the center of that giant wheel they had another wheel a lot like that. Under steam one man could easily manipulate the rudder using that steam valve. That's what it is. 0:45
I don't understand the obsession for sportsball players. Its like being proud of someone elses kids. I expected this guy to pull pictures of kobe out of his wallet.
That's so funny. I think it's because people look up to people who do great or seemingly impossible things. It's something to strive for. And everyone coming together to celebrate the height of human achievement is a wonderful thing. But I agree with you. I'm not a fan of 99% of celebrities and influencers. I think people put them on a pedestal by attributing more positive qualities and wisdom to them than they actually possess. They get consulted for things that are not their area of expertise or say the most basic truth, and their rabid fans will act like they just quoted Socrates or something. It's really pathetic and I believe it's why we are okay with so much evil nowadays. Our favorite rich people are doing it.

New theyre 6/1200 but resale is basically half that just like a Mexican strat new 800 could barely get 400 the next day
@Duke nukem bubblegum agreed. With the repairs that need to be made, I doubt their is much room to make a profit.
Put some grover tuners on it, plug it in, done
Most pawn shops would sneer at you and say no if you bring in a guitar with missing parts.
@@treetopjones737 Pinetop Perkins.....only higher quality guitars get away with missing parts, tuners and slap a pickguard on it is cheap and eady
That's not what neck through is. Neck through goes from end to end, headstock to tail. Les Pauls are set neck.
Also, it's Gotoh, not GOTU
Sloth is a big Michael Jordan fan it seems
Is that THE infamous “tweaker” that comes in during the guitar deal ??
That movie is Better Off Dead with John Cusack. 80's movie, one of my favorites. I WANT MY TWO DOLLARS!!!! 😂😂😂
One Crazy Summer, The Sure Thing, and Hot Pursuit were good movies too
16:33 - _"Look at that lollypop album by _*_Khan-ya_*_ West"_ LOL So that is what hes calling himself now ehh?
I would have bought all those pics for 150$ wow. good deal.
I would have paid 250
Fyi when you buy guitars you should check the back cover and make sure the electronics are kosher. I noticed the bridge pickup was also cracked. I would buy that les paul and fix it up if it was in the area
Buying a guitar from C.M Punk is no small thing. You really didnt recognize him!??!?!?!?!?
Really? I don’t think so that guy was too short
And whattya know, Punk is from Chicago too.
Pete says it all the time he needs
t shirts that say ↓
Wheeling and Dealing Love it ! ! 😂
Where has Vici been? I haven't seen her in a while. Great videos as usual!
Gone
That sweet dreams rendition sounded so good!
We’re Vicky she missed
I would probably have taken some of the anomalies from the casette box like the sealed Chinese one the old man got on a plane in the early 90s. The reason I go to pawn/thrift shops to find weird and uncommon stuff like that.
The characters that come through this shop 😂😂😂 boy oh boy 🤦🏻♂️😮💨🤣
That Duncan bridge pickup is a great upgrade to the Probucker pickup these generally come with and more than makes up for the missing key buttons and the missing poker chip.
I think you hit the nail on the head with your valuation of this Epiphone LP
TIP-: always take off the truss rod cover and make sure that there is plenty of thread showing, if there isn't, it means that the guitar neck has had significant movement and has had to have massive adjustment, when a guitar neck has had so much movement that you have had to use all of the thread on the truss rod it is not worth buying as that movement will continue and will no longer be able to be adjusted for with the truss rod.
The actual steering wheel is from a kids toy
Huh?
I’m glad that you didn’t try to beat that guy up on price for his Jordan stuff. Sometimes people are desperate for money and I appreciate how you didn’t take advantage of that.
"Lost all his marbles" what an excellent correct statement Peter
"I want my 2 dollars" is from the movie Better Off Dead. Its a ski movie with John Cusack. Answering your question at the very end.
MJ & Kobe > LePrimadonna James
Spot on
Why is there always a guy at every Pawn Shop exactly like the guy at 11:37 in the background?
Same clothes, same face, same junk to pawn. And is a regular at the shop!😂
I'll bet his girlfriend is sitting in the car in pajamas and fuzzy house shoes. He's driving a grey 4 door car with unmatching white doors and has one spare tire mounted. 😂😂
Buddy with the guitar had zero sense of humour. 👍🇨🇦
Pete..if you already haven't done it...Have your ticket PSA graded.Graded ones people are asking around $15,000 for higher graded ones for the Kobe Bryant rookie vs Michael Jordan game.
You got too many employees not working, you making that much money ?
Some comedian once said that even the pride for the city is wrong because most of the players arent from the city they play for. Then suggested all teams had to use players ONLY from the city of the team, THEN we'd see who was the toughest. I can dig it.
AMEN, when I go to MLS games I always wear my own old Jersey…really.
@@oldghostbillyBut wouldn't we just see large population centers dominate smaller ones? You would have to cut up the cities to even amounts of people where to draft but then you would have to account for other things. Geography, infrastructure, wealth etc. Sports are a really bad metric for toughness.
Better Off Dead is the name of the movie with John Cusack where the paperboy is trying to get his 2 dollars the whole movie. It's a cult classic.
If I can replace it with my car steering wheel I’ll take 😂😂😂
the bottom pick up is a seymour duncan much higher quality than the stock epiphone pick up and more desirable therefore worth more a set of 2 can be $100 to $300 alone
The bird has been reported to RUclips I have my headphones on a low. It is causing a lot of problems with people's hearing. I am very sorry but my ears are very important to me.
😂 you’re kidding…Right? No one is forcing you watch the channel or use headphones 😂
😂😂😂
