It was good because 95% of it was about the car, and the owner. Rather than the common DT thing that 60% of the episode is random tangents like Hert and Kikawa's relationship, Hoonigan staff talking shit to one another, etc. - Not that thats bad, just nice to focus on the cars.
I think a nice mix is needed. You need episodes that update us with everyone and you need ones that are just informative and cool like this one. Honestly i think overall everything they are doing is on point these days. They have a lot of content possibilities just need to organize how we get it.
I went to school with Jeff at the Art Center College of Design. I drooled every time I’d see Jeff drive up in his 911-6. His plates were: ITSASIX. How Jeff would get his camera gear in that classic will forever be a mystery. The car and its owner are legend.
Any man who can say they've owned a car for 45+ years, of which he beat on it constantly and still continues to show love and passion for said car after all these years and isn't afraid to toss it around is COOL by us. Those are FUCKING goals. You sir, deserve a beer!
any difference and time comes around. I kept a tin can ten geared dual range, dual port subaru..it is just gaining attention now at 31 yrs old. I only have it for 11yrs. Keep anything different.. the hate fades.
Broke back my favorite memory of my 914/6. Coming home at night from work on the big sweeping exit ramp. As I am coming into the sweeper I see two cars side by side on the road I'm going to merge on. The were going pretty quick and I decided to show them what quick was. I came out about 30 yards ahead and just punched it. One car kept following as I was slowing down. And then the lights came on. It was a NYS Trooper. He didn't give me a ticket, he just wanted to see what I was driving. I'll never forget that.
This guy is a gem. Love that’s it’s first car and he can daily and race this best. Beside the fact that I’m a 914 fan true and true. I sooo want this car😎
GREAT CINIMATAGRAPY The CLOSE UP OF Jeff Zwar was the moment of the whole interview ,just an other drive through the classic donut shop, showing us how its done!
Something you won’t know about a 914-6 till you drive one is you can hear the chain noise sing a it revs, the engine flipped around and exhaust out back puts the fan and chain boxes right behind your ear only separated by a thin firewall. It is a completely unique sound that you can not get in a 911. 914-6 front suspension, engine, transmission, brakes are all standard 911 parts but the unique chassis layout makes it a 914. Designed by Porsche, stamped out and welded together by Volkswagen, the sixes were all assembled by Zuffenhusen. The are a serious car for Motorsports. I’ve built a few of them and love ‘em ❤️.
I can only hope I'm half this cool when I'm his age. Awesome. He was having fun you could tell it brought back memories. Super cool how long and what he's accomplished in that car. That's dedication. Hell I bought ,built and sold my first car before I even got my liscense.
Absolute dream ride. teh 914 is awesome. V6 are rare. People put aluminum V8 in that little cart. Mid engine FTW. I hate yellow cars.. ok, but this?... oh hell. The man responsible for this beaut', Mr Zwart, is a legend. Thanks for showcasing this one Hoonigan crew. There gotta be some VW love over there, especially after the Baja adventure.
Thanks 4 the memory as a Airmen with a Wine colored 76 914 in Ft Worth Tx Cornering on a freeway with a Gt 308 and keeping pace , I remember the face of that man , his face said it all “ are you kidding me “
This man is my hero. After hearing the story about how he got the car and also having the bolas to do burnouts with a Porsche 914/6 . Those motors are not cheap and are Magnesium or aluminum depending on year.
i, myself, am trying to get my uncles porsche 914 (i don't know if it's a 4 or 6 i haven't taken a good look at it). it's been sitting a garage for 18 years and i'm just sadden by the fact that it's not being used. it's a passion project of mine to get it driving again, but everyone says i should just buy a new one; i think they don't know what their saying. hope i could finish before i turn 23 (i'm 20 now).
The fact that he's had the car with him throughout his life makes the donuts all the more sweeter.
I feel every car guy wants to have "that car".
Joshua Moore seriously, I'm surprised he did it.
This is one of those episodes that is just solid all the way through. I learned a lot and it had fun burnouts. The DT's just keep getting better.

Fantastic 914, to say the least. Very exciting little car! What else is exciting? Seeing that the FB is being worked on in the background.
I can only hope I'm half this cool when I'm his age. Awesome. He was having fun you could tell it brought back memories. Super cool how long and what he's accomplished in that car. That's dedication. Hell I bought ,built and sold my first car before I even got my liscense.
Who doesn’t love a well maintained old school motor that sounds like that. I tip my hat to you Jeff
Seeing a 914 do a burnout and donuts was one of the coolest moments on this show. Add in that it was Jeff’s car just made it even better.
Great dt! Probably the best, quickest non Hert "wrap". Jeff's a rad dude.
