There is A LOT of stuff going on, and since everything is red (Casino part), it's pretty hard to see where the enemy is, The blue team is EASY to see but the red is horrible!! There is maps that look empty and I hate it, but embargo it's a lot with no contrast. The greece one is cool at the end, it would of been cool to make a giant drill rather than a saw, but the ending of that map is great!! Btw, nice Stapler's Specs you wearing there

Along with that, a good beggar's overload jump can send you to enemy spawn with another 3 rockets loaded before landing if you get a good roofslide. There's just not enough actually safe space on the map for less mobile classes. You can go anywhere and shoot anywhere in some really unbalanced ways
Yeahhhh had several rounds where two snipers sat down on their respective team's building's roof and shut down the server. And when there's an engi, any engi, with a nest on that roof or in the only entrance to the roof, inside the building, then congratulations, you won't ever deal with those snipers unless you get a godly sniper of your own to shut down the map for the opposing team. _Yikes._ There's also the problem of gunslinger engineers. They can plop down sentries on the low ground leading to the ammo and health pack under the point and also shut down most approaches to the objective.
@@wilcom6459 Pyro with the neon and gas passer is unironically pretty good there, just swim around criting and caughting the Sniper off guard and you are good. Normal pyro however is kinda terrible because of the open nature of the map.

Every time Zesty appear live, he just look like a different American archetype. Also want to add: the maps are okay at best, almost all of them are hard to read, much verticality, a LOT of routes and ridiculous sightlines, and they're not really good in the map layout in general. And maps for me are the major selling point of a update.

This summer update would be great if they actually un-muted F2Ps. The reason they muted them in the first place was because of the bot problem. If they really wanted to show their dedication, they would give F2P their right to communicate again.

The new maps suffer from gimmickcreep, which occurs naturally as a game gets old and the community mappers take control and favor style over substance. They including new elements while forgetting about tradition, and they slowly become very different from the source material.

The part about the mercs manifesting random objects out of thin air has been a thing for years now. I don't see why we are even bringing this up. Some of the most beloved taunts have these kinds of effects. Engineer playing his banjo being one of them, or even the Frontier Justice's taunt being Engi manifesting a guitar out of nowhere for a taunt kill. I think it's more of an issue when the object feels out of place and out of character, especially all of the ridable taunts, like Soldier riding a damn rocket.
The only "manisfest" taunt that I'm fine with is the rancho relaxo. The engie doesn't "manifest" a chair, but rather places down one of his building cases which unfolds into a chair. It makes sense and is perfectly in-character. Arguably, Tailored Terminal is kinda fine too, since it's supposed to be a compact computer the Spy pulls out of his pocket, a gadget you'd expect him to carry.
While some taunts manifest things out of thin air, at least they are actually taunts, like the Soldier trash can and the Pyro tissues, instead of just fortnite emotes. Kinda happy about those taunts being added.
Agreed The rage all class taunt isn't as good but at least it's more in line with the taunting idea. Could be good for use against teammates when losing/after losing.
Embargo really makes player outlines do the heavy lifting of player recognition. Last few points are egregious, especially if you are on BLU. You walk into the chokepoint and everything is red, red, red...

Ancient Greek ruins existed in the setting of TF2, here's why it still feels wrong. A proper TF2 setting needs to be inconspicuous. Like if you were up to something shady, where would you set up operations where you are unlikely to be noticed? Then you set up the shadiness, that's where the spy-tech comes in. Inconspicuous settings (Very TF2-like): an abandoned mine, an old factory, a granary, etc. Conspicuous settings (Very un-TF2-like): tourist locations, important historical ruins, city streets, suburbs, etc.

Ye that's why I like the way it's made. I love DOOM so having the regular mask would be sick but the fact it's got the gladiator elements it also is just a cool helmet if you don't know the reference and makes it fit the game more
45:00 this map is even worse than he outlined. You can stand on the roof. First round I played on this map, there was a sniper permanently situated on the roof. You can oversee the entire battlefield from there
The map koth_garbageday or something like it, it's been too long, is essentially this same map but ACTUALLY WORKING. Bigger hill, multiple levels and it blocks off sights, plus an underground with elevator that allows a flank route. Would've been much better than that terrible island ...

Worse still, Snipers can hide behind the roof as well, and spawn is right behind it too, so you can't even shoot back without the Snipers ducking behind cover or quickly jumping off to spawn to heal. On one match I played, there were two good snipers on the roofs that were singlehandedly shutting down the entire battlefield, and I had to go Spy literally just to run over to them and kill them so we'd be able to get on the point. Absolute cancer.
I really wish valve would think about the shit they’re adding since once it’s in the game, you can’t take it out. That soldier cosmetic set might be the ugliest set in the entire game.

Exception is on Halloween, because Merasmus is another integral part of the (seasonal) lore. Unless, of course, they make an entirely different story that deviates from the original, running story. I mean your not wrong but the problem lies in the core concept of snipers full effectiveness is solely based on the persons mechanical skill, so how do you balance a class without punishing the mechanical ability (aim) of a competent sniper player. Eg nerfing quickscope damage just makes playing the class more miserable for the player that took time to get good with it, like I remember when headshot damage was reduced on tf2 classic custom server and it made sniper completely obsolete because why bother aiming well if you can just spam rockets or spam stickies and output more damage to more enemy players. Whereas sniper can only really attack one player at a time.
I looked around the workshop leaving comments on the new added items (way before zesty's video btw), good or bad, but always trying to be constructive. What I saw is that many negative comments somehow disappeared, even the constructive ones. The author of Embargo even blocked me! I cannot comment on his map anymore (at least he didn't delete what I wrote...). Some workshoppers really are something...

The moment I learned about this Tropic Crisis nonsense, I was pissed, and the more I looked into it the more pissed I became. The team made an update website with a bunch of fake new weapons and told people "Vote for our stuff so Valve will add it!" knowing full well that Valve was not going to add any of the features or unlocks, and they get to run off with their hat money like bandits.
So these "NEW COMMUNITY UPDATE !!!!" workshoppers are just putting make-believe stuff on their page and hyping up crap, just to put their items over everyone else in the game?
The "MF DOOM helmet" is also literally from the historical movie gladiator, worn by Maximus, it's a homage to both, if they wanted to make only a MF DOOM helmet they could have removed the spikes but they didn't, so I feel the mask is fine and doesn't really clash with TF2's style nor stick out like a swore thumb.
I really feel like the "Daring Dell" helmet would've went much better with a sort of Highway Patrol-themed set rather than a stuntman set, especially since motorcycle police patrols used to be much more common back in the 60's-70's. edit: also the "Tanker's Top" for scout just looks like the Dead of Night cosmetic with a zipper imo.
Yeah the post processing is really strong. I like the map, but I can't play on it for long because it's so bright it actually hurts my eyes after a round or two.
My main personal grip about Embargo and many other recently added community made maps like Pier or Venice is that they all have extremely basic and boring layouts that are devoid of verticality or maneuverability and end up just being giant cluttered bottlenecks like older maps such as Goldrush or Snowycoast where the traffic is always being forced into one area rather than spread out.

some maps are ok, nothing great but ok. But I hated embargo and I wasn't the only one, during the match most players had no idea where to go. It's simply confusing and too long, it doesn't matter all the visual work on the map if the map itself is boring, players will just play it once and go back to badwater.
As a pyro main, megaton is pure pain. I am just dead half of the game because snipers, or mini sentry that I have no way of approaching, or scouts that have unrestricted movement and water. Heavies, medics and demos barely can play too.
I understand this all too well. I'm a pyro main as well and fighting against snipers alot of times can be a pain so seeing such an open map like this brings a sad tear to my eye.
Spamming scorch shot from long range was the ONLY way I could stay alive for longer than 30 seconds on Megaton and a Pyro should never be forced to use that thing

I fully agree with you. That's a problem that I'm having with current tf2 and Embargo is probably a good example of that problem in this update

Ancient Greek ruins existed in the setting of TF2, here's why it still feels wrong. A proper TF2 setting needs to be inconspicuous. Like if you were up to something shady, where would you set up operations where you are unlikely to be noticed? Then you set up the shadiness, that's where the spy-tech comes in.
Inconspicuous settings (Very TF2-like): an abandoned mine, an old factory, a granary, etc.
Conspicuous settings (Very un-TF2-like): tourist locations, important historical ruins, city streets, suburbs, etc.

Ye that's why I like the way it's made. I love DOOM so having the regular mask would be sick but the fact it's got the gladiator elements it also is just a cool helmet if you don't know the reference and makes it fit the game more

45:00 this map is even worse than he outlined. You can stand on the roof. First round I played on this map, there was a sniper permanently situated on the roof. You can oversee the entire battlefield from there
The map koth_garbageday or something like it, it's been too long, is essentially this same map but ACTUALLY WORKING.
Bigger hill, multiple levels and it blocks off sights, plus an underground with elevator that allows a flank route.

@@noodlespark Yea. the sniper in the round i was playing, was luckily only good, but put a godlike sniper there and he can shut down the entire point and surroundings. already thrown the map out of my map rotation.
Worse still, Snipers can hide behind the roof as well, and spawn is right behind it too, so you can't even shoot back without the Snipers ducking behind cover or quickly jumping off to spawn to heal. On one match I played, there were two good snipers on the roofs that were singlehandedly shutting down the entire battlefield, and I had to go Spy literally just to run over to them and kill them so we'd be able to get on the point. Absolute cancer.

Some people have discovered that the desk engineer has a pride flag hidden inside of, really doesn't sit right with me that people can just sneak modern day identity politics/fetishes in the game so easily, it speaks to how little the person that picks items actually cares to inspect them before adding them as you literally just have to look inside the model for less than a second to spot it.

I mean your not wrong but the problem lies in the core concept of snipers full effectiveness is solely based on the persons mechanical skill, so how do you balance a class without punishing the mechanical ability (aim) of a competent sniper player.
Eg nerfing quickscope damage just makes playing the class more miserable for the player that took time to get good with it, like I remember when headshot damage was reduced on tf2 classic custom server and it made sniper completely obsolete because why bother aiming well if you can just spam rockets or spam stickies and output more damage to more enemy players. Whereas sniper can only really attack one player at a time.

The moment I learned about this Tropic Crisis nonsense, I was pissed, and the more I looked into it the more pissed I became. The team made an update website with a bunch of fake new weapons and told people "Vote for our stuff so Valve will add it!" knowing full well that Valve was not going to add any of the features or unlocks, and they get to run off with their hat money like bandits.
So these "NEW COMMUNITY UPDATE !!!!" workshoppers are just putting make-believe stuff on their page and hyping up crap, just to put their items over everyone else in the game?
the DOOM hat is amazing and looks great even in a vacuum if you don’t know who the guy is. works well with gladiator sets.
The "MF DOOM helmet" is also literally from the historical movie gladiator, worn by Maximus, it's a homage to both, if they wanted to make only a MF DOOM helmet they could have removed the spikes but they didn't, so I feel the mask is fine and doesn't really clash with TF2's style nor stick out like a swore thumb.

I really feel like the "Daring Dell" helmet would've went much better with a sort of Highway Patrol-themed set rather than a stuntman set, especially since motorcycle police patrols used to be much more common back in the 60's-70's.
edit: also the "Tanker's Top" for scout just looks like the Dead of Night cosmetic with a zipper imo.

Is it just me or is the entirety of Applejack just a lot more saturated then ut should be? Especially in the outside areas.
Yeah the post processing is really strong. I like the map, but I can't play on it for long because it's so bright it actually hurts my eyes after a round or two.
Overall, a mixed bag. Too many unusual effects and God those item spawning taunts aren't needed.
The only good taunt is the Cremator's Condolences, the Unleashed Rage is mediocre and the ones for Soldier and Sniper look terrible

My main personal grip about Embargo and many other recently added community made maps like Pier or Venice is that they all have extremely basic and boring layouts that are devoid of verticality or maneuverability and end up just being giant cluttered bottlenecks like older maps such as Goldrush or Snowycoast where the traffic is always being forced into one area rather than spread out.

some maps are ok, nothing great but ok.
But I hated embargo and I wasn't the only one, during the match most players had no idea where to go.
It's simply confusing and too long, it doesn't matter all the visual work on the map if the map itself is boring, players will just play it once and go back to badwater.

As a pyro main, megaton is pure pain. I am just dead half of the game because snipers, or mini sentry that I have no way of approaching, or scouts that have unrestricted movement and water. Heavies, medics and demos barely can play too.
I understand this all too well. I'm a pyro main as well and fighting against snipers alot of times can be a pain so seeing such an open map like this brings a sad tear to my eye.
Spamming scorch shot from long range was the ONLY way I could stay alive for longer than 30 seconds on Megaton and a Pyro should never be forced to use that thing
