    Lessons learnt:
The importance of having a body you are proud of (right now) cannot be understated. When you can see years of hard, consistent work, you respect yourself and hold your head high. Counter this, having a body you feel embarrassed of will be a huge burden on your mental health. Train your body consistently and start (if you haven't already) eating for nutrition, not taste. Eating for taste should be a treat. If you've never felt really proud of your body, you don't even know what it feels like. Be nice to yourself and allow yourself to experience this form of pride. You'll stick to it forever after you've felt that sudden burst of happiness every single time you see your body in the mirror. It's like a superpower.
We all want an active social life with close friends. This is something we can actively improve on, just... it feels cringey. But I don't give a fuck. I researched "how to make friends" "how to speak to people without being shy" and made this an aspect of my life that received direct attention, time and effort. Be happy when you are alone. But don't ever think that being lonely is good for you. We are social creatures. YOU need to put the effort in.
Following on from the previous point, getting popular seems vain but it's important. Everyone is shy at times like the start of university / student accommodation move in day. They're all hoping some fun, confident person initiates a conversation with them and invites them into the fun. BE THE INITIATOR. Have fun, interesting things planned in your week that you're going to anyway. Then invite people. I can't emphasise how easy this made making friends.
TRAIN YOUR MIND. If you've learnt anything from me its about the importance of exercise and training your body. I trained my body for 5 years but never once spent an hour actively training my mind. Shame on me. Shame on you if you are in the same place. We have the internet. We get to live longer than every single one of our ancestors because of we are living in the Information Era. Use this to your advantage to improve your mental health. GOOGLE / RUclips YOUR SYMPTOMS. That's the 'cheat code' to improving your mental health. What are you feeling? What are you thoughts like? Search that on RUclips and Reddit and you'll find some kind of guide with someone telling you exactly what they did to come out of that. Journaling, meditating, increasing gratitude and fixing my diet (point 1) significantly improved my mental health. If you don't have good mental health right now, I want you to dedicate a 'block' of your day to improving this. 1 hour you set aside every single day, researching, trying, improving. You cant fix this shit whilst staring at your phone on social media and letting the thoughts run wild. It needs direct, undistracted attention.
Don't be afraid of admitting that you want to improve your dating life. Again, it sounds cringey to search for advice online. But again, who gives a fuck? The people who make no effort in actively improving their dating life stay stuck in the same situations for so many years. Dating is a huge part of our lives. Put the effort in to improve yours. Search for that knowledge, like I did. "How do I get girls" "How should I speak to girls" "What do girls really want?" "What are girls attracted to?"
Working a job that is definitely going to lead to nothing more than your current wage is a sure-fire way to live a shit life for as long as you continue working there. This obviously doesn't mean careers in which you hope to progress further. I'm talking about those low end jobs you take as a student/recent graduate, in a field that you feel sick to even think you will be staying in for years. "But it pays the bills!!!" Who gives a fuck? Why do you have bills when you don't have a good career or at least a clear progression to one? Drastically lower your bills (move home to family, lose that ego) and then you won't have to work the shitty job giving you depression. Again, this is only for the young people who absolutely hate their job but its the only way they can afford to live in their city apartment (20 year old me). If you have depression in the city apartment then it's clearly not worth it. Any amount of time you spend in a job that you have no future in is only for the basic wage you get, which you are mostly spending just so you can live... so you can go to that job. Get out of that cycle by drastically reducing your bills. I did this by fixing my relationship with my parents and moving home. This one action was as good as an entire year actively trying to improve my mental health.

Been going through that for a while now. Had been making great progress before covid - was studying music, hosting events/gigs, was the most popular and extroverted I had been in years and fell into a slump over the last 12-14 months.
Like another poster here has said, its important not to take on too much. Exercise is a huge help too if you're feeling stuck as it helps clear the mind so that you can focus better and are in a better position to make choices to carve out and invest in your future.
Cut yourself off from low-value, negative people too that always have a hard-luck story on how they cant catch a break yet wont admit its their problem and they have to take resopnsibility because that mentailty WILL DEFINITELY RUB OFF ON YOU.
Glad to say I've been working on myself for a while now, been keeping to myself and even though I've already implemented changes in my life, I still cant wait until the new year begins so that when it comes I'll already be feeling back to myself as opposed to starting on January 1st.
The one thing I've never tried is the gym. I do a lot of cycling and thats very theraputic for me but I'd like to set goals in the gym so that I can change my physicality.

Man you describing your Depression Cycle hits so close to home. I took me around 12 years to understand that Heaven and Hell are real places, and they both reside between your ears. The way you streamline your way of thinking, unconsciously decide if either god or the devil talks to you in your own voice masking as yourself. The great thing about that meta- awareness is both sides use the same mechanisms. Your brain doesn't care about your specific though pattern, it just wants A pattern out of laziness. This means the same road the lead you to hell can be flipped to lead you to heaven. Thanks for existing my Man, stay strong.

Bro, this was amazing! As I promised in the last video, I watched it all. Although I am 19 and just started on this journey, I could relate to most of the stuff that you talked about, especially the negative cycle of thoughts. Last year, I was in my best shape but after the lockdown, I stopped working out and gained a lot of weight. I lost all my progress and that's when it started affected my mental health like crazy. I realized that mental and physical health are not separate, they go together. If I am not happy when I look in the mirror, I won't be at peace with my mind. Things will go bad no matter what unless I fix my body first.
I also liked the part where you talked about taking action to wake the motivation. For a long time, I used to think that motivation is essential for progress but now I think that discipline is the most important part. That's what drives you to keep going, get positive results which then gives you motivation. Delayed gratification is real!
When I started feeling shit this year, I watched your "you are not your thoughts" video which helped me a lot and that's what brought me to this channel. I would be very happy to hear you talk about dating and social life in the coming videos. Throughout my life, I have been a shy introvert and now I am willing to change all that. It might be a late start but better late than never!

    • @Hamza97
      @Hamza97  4 года назад +18

I’m really grateful you commented that. Well said about your body, we must feel pride when we look at ourselves. This is a feature not too many people have but the few that do truly know the importance of it. We fall of the grind, it’s inevitable. Remember you can’t have ups if you don’t have downs. And we know results are never linear. We’ve been in those low moments which make the highs so much sweeter.
Build that discipline. Motivation comes in as an extra treat after you do the hard work even when you don’t feel like it.
You seem to have a fantastic attitude to life. I feel proud of you even though I don’t know much else about you other than your desire and capability to improve. Well done.
There seems to be a need for the other content I haven’t made videos on yet. I will definitely share what knowledge I’ve learnt. I hope to see you stick around, actively implementing, testing and improving on the things I teach.

I usually listen to podcasts while I play some relaxing game and this channel has became the most helpful piece of RUclips I’ve ever found. Like you I joined the gym for girls, it’s been 6 months now and I’ve started to over hear them talk about me and the dance that’s coming up. That never happened before, I used to wear glasses and as a ginger with a bowl cut that was horrible I had no self confidence and because of that I would get in fights with people. Being skinny I could t fight I would just talk myself into situations that only time could heal. As I hit 8th grade I became more confident as I grew a friend group around a sport I did for a while (XC mountain biking) I loved it and it’s something you can’t understand unless you do that. But this year I decided to quit, I had a bike coming in and it had been a year and a half wait which is incredibly long for anything. Instead I refunded the bike and put 300$ down to the biggest gym in my county of Alabama. I used to go work out at the civic center for a while but never really got into it I just went with my dad and didn’t really try. But hitting this gym I put every single piece of effort down. Hitting my macros at all costs, constant self improvement videos, I read how to win friends and influence people which changed my life, and pushed myself honestly too hard. I am not the greatest guy in my high school, definitely not the most popular, but I have never received attention like this before, I’ve never had this confidence before, and I’d never been able to speak to girls until now, I am in a friend group with the popular girls and guys at this point and everything I have done to improve myself has bounced back into my lifestyle. If you can’t notice the gains you have made, trust me other people can, shooting from 120 to 150 in 6 months was dedication and a high protein diet dirty bulk but I’ve never looked better. Thank you Hamza so much for what you’ve done for me and will continue to do with your videos.

    Went through the same mate.
First 3 years of Secondary was great because I was in the same class as my friends, the in the last two years I was moved up to a higher class and those same friends betrayed me. It gave me serious depression and brought on a lot of trust issues. The depression and subsequent anxiety from the betrayal caused me to fail my Leaving Certificate (GCSE's in Britain I think or whatever exams you sit before you go into college), so then when I had to go to a new school to repeat the subects I failed I was so withdrawn that I literally spoke to no one for two years. The same happened for the first year of my new college but then I eventually came out of myself.
I was never an introverted person growing up but its incredible how the cruel actions of others (followers who trail after an arsehole bully) can make you doubt yourself and how it can take years to get out of that false mentality.
Love the channel by the way - forgot I had subscribed to you a fe years ago.

I relate to your PTSD and intrusive thoughts. I have been in that state for a couple of years now. I have overcome the negativity but I still have no control over my thoughts. I also have no social life, but I know I will get over this because I have already improved, a lot. I relate to your trauma and also I relate to how others couldn't relate to your problems. Same thing with me. My family couldn't understand me, the Internet really saved my life, though maybe it's also responsible for destroying it in the first place.
