I hear strength in your voice, continue to power through obstacles that come your way! You are a talented instructor, I've learned more from you about my hair then I have from my own stylist! I listen, I apply, and let my crown speak for itself! God Bless You!!
I have thin hair and whenever I go for a trim. The stylist hears cut. So now, I watch you and I trim my own hair. With shears. Because Linwood said so. I have learned so much from you. Bless you. Thanks for always sharing your knowledge.
This makes so sense! I was getting my hair trimmed every 6-8 weeks and could never understand why my hair didn’t “grow”. With course hair, I’m going to aim for 3 months from now on. Thank you so much for your informative videos! Be blessed!
I know your still hurting, I can see the sadness in your eyes, but I'm glad to see that you're taking baby steps to find yourself again. I always wondered about this.. because I used to get them trimmed every couple of months and I would have minimal split hairs. Now, I wait about 3-4 months for a trim, especially now that I'm completely natural. Thank you for your thorough explanations. ❤⚜️💯

Yes! I completely agree that trimming hair every 4-6 weeks is far too often! I currently get my hair trimmed every 3-4 months and that's been working for me so far! I love that you mentioned fine hair - it's so important to adjust our regimen's to account for our unique hair types. Thanks for posting this video - it is EXCELLENT! 💛

I am so glad you said this. I am militant with my DC, sleeping situation and maintaining my moisture/protein on my relaxed hair. I seldom and like I mean over the last 2 years when I started this slightly obsessed behavior, thanks Ronna, have gotten a split end. I do trim when I relax every 4 to 6 months but breakage is minimal knock ALL the wood. I examine the ends and will lightly dust with a pair of hair shears if they are not perfectly straight!
What shears do you use? My hair has grown so long since I stopped going to see professional stylists, but it is so thick and massive that the shears from Sally’s are dull after two dustings!

SOOOO glad you're back!! Okay, so, very specifically: for natural hair that is high porosity, is a combination of 3c/4a/4b, (unsure of texture, bc I don't really know what is considered fine, medium, or coarse), and low density, growing out of a sensitive scalp--what is a good regimen for keeping the hair healthy, in order to grow it out?
Have you downloaded my free haircare guide? (It’s linked in the description box and the top pinned comment) it will help answer so many questions for you, right down to product recommendations!
My split ends were cut last month. My next appointment for a trim is in April. I have fine hair. 👀 Thanks to you, I will have a specific conversation with my natural haircare stylist about my goal to retain length and about how often I need a trim based on my hair’s history. Thank you for this video. ❤️
This was very helpful because I have a stylist that says I need to get my hair trimmed every two months and I am natural. Thank. You for these tips So glad I don't have to do this like she says every two months. I am growing my hair and getting it cut every two months I thought to myself definitely defeated the purpose of length retention 🤗
Hey Linwood, I needed this video badly. My natural hair is down my back, I need a trim asap, I've only had 1 trim during the Pandemic, I can see the split ends, about 2 inches need to be trimmed soon. Thanks 🥰
Glad to see you back instructor! I'm trying to grow mine so only cutting when I see frayed ends. Thank you for the tips! I try to wash and deep condition every week at least once a week.
Hi fam! Glad to hear your cheerful voice. My hair is very, very fine, bra strap length, and coily with some webbing going on. I hope to get a silk press so I can get a good salon trim. I have not had an all over trim in five years.

@@GetGlamFam Sometimes you have to get a divorce to get REmarried!! That's how I see it! My friend and his wife divorced and last time I talked to him, he mentioned possibly remarrying her. He loves love and loves being in a relationship. They're the best of friends and business partners, so they talk multiple times everyday. He can't keep a girlfriend because of his close relationship with Shelley. I've always been single and I don't recommend anyone get divorced (unless it's an extreme situation). It's not worth it if you have kids.
Wow. Ok, this just put a lot in perspective. I'm gonna get a trim soon. It's been months and I was just wondering why my curl pattern was funky. I have a pretty loose curl to begin with, but it's been looking more like a staggering wave lately 😂😂😂
Love this video. God bless fam!! You answered my question as to why my cousin (who is licensed and has her own shop/products) RARELY trimmed my ends. We are going for length and she always conditions me and steam treats my hair!
@@GetGlamFam she is but she's really busy and I had to go somewhere else. BIG mistake! I need to learn how to properly and tenderly take care of my hair in between visits. You should have a session in Richmond VA so I can come learn!!!
I have learned so much through your videos! I'm taking better care of my hair thanks to your informative truth about hair care, structure and growth. Believe it or not, no one has ever told me or taught me how to take care of or grow my hair- and I'm over 50 years young! I'm deeply grateful that you are willing to share your knowledge with us and may God bless you greatly for all that you give to the Glamfam community!
Natural since 2009 and my latest trim left my hair when curly above my ears! I’m so ticked off. Looking at pics from the past, while natural, my hair has been at my shoulders curly and down my back blown out. I knew when my hair was blown out and above my shoulders that it was going to be way too short. But I have a celebrity stylist and you can’t tell them nothing. I need someone like you.
Also, leave it up to the professionals on trimming. I purchased shears from Amazon & the shears slipped & I cut my finger. Find you I’m very detailed and take my time. It definitely hurt, I’m okay but just go to a professional. Also, thanks about the moisturizing deep Conditioner, that makes so much since. And I always knew something was off for 4-6 weeks trim. Especially for Afro textured hair getting our ends trim 5 times out the years sounds like growth can be obtained. Thanks for the great tips !
I normally start getting knots around the 4 month mark. I am terrible though, I’ll push to 5/6th month which is a struggle to detangle. I deep condition regularly and really focus on my ends so that’s helps a lot by time I get my trim and keeps it from being a big chop🤣 Excellent video and tips! Also, like how you changed location throughout.
Thank you so much for this! I couldn't understand why my hair has been the same length for almost 5 years and my ends always have those balls at the end. I had a feeling it wasn't knots but I wasn't sure. Also, when I blowdry, my ends NEVER get straight. And when I do twist outs, my ends DO NOT hold the shape. I also see little broken hairs everywhere when I comb my hair which I knew wasn't good but really didn't understand what was happening. I have gotten professional trims in this time, but it keeps coming back. I am not the best at keeping my hair moisturized, but I knew that was probably the culprit. No matter what I do, my ends always feel dry 🤷🏾♀️ It's been difficult to find a routine for my hair that yields results, but with this knowledge, it just got a little easier to work towards. Thank you again!
Thank you !!! I so appreciate your instruction. My hairdresser moved so now I had to trim my own ends recently. I did use hair shears and it has been about 5 - 6 months since I last straightened and had it trimmed. The last time my stylist trimmed it. Since he's gone, I did it myself. Thanks again and I'll trim it in 3 months the next time. You are such a blessing with the hair knowledge you give to us. Praying for you and your family!
I stopped trimming my hair before the COVID started, and now I have near hip-length hair. I stopped using a blowdryer a year ago and deep-condition my hair weekly, I oil the end of my hair constantly, I sleep in a silk bonnet and I could barely see any split ends (if I find one, I use barber scissors to cut it off immediately, so search and snip method is great for growing out your hair and as a self-indulgenting pastime hobby). My naturally thick straight hair can barely hold a curl after braiding (no more heating iron), but I like it that way.
Hi Linwood, thanks for saving my daily hair struggles! My 4C/thin hair is getting more love since I found this channel & your smart content👏👏. Sending positive vibes & prayers to you and your family. Stay Blessed 🙏🤩
I just cut my hair quite short and have been experimenting with all the different hairstyles, while also incorporating bond building and deep conditioning treatments to go until at least spring. Having fine wavy hair is a trip.
2.5 to 3 months is my sweet spot for trims. 😊 I'm glad you made this video about different kinds of hair needing a trim. My hair starts to knot really bad or it doesn't curl right as it starts to split around month 3.
Great 😊 job - I’ve been seeing this for years. Salons were cutting all my growth for years. I finally stopped letting them cut my hair and my hair is half way down my back now
Wow, see this is what I need to do. These stylists seem like they don't want your hair to be too long. They always wanna cut on it, then get mad when you express concern over how much they're cutting! 🤦🏾♀
Exactly. For years I thought my hair didn’t grow past my shoulders cuz it just always grew to that point and no more. But once I started monitoring the trims and getting them sparingly now I have long hair .. folks ask me if it’s extensions when I blow it out! Glad I stopped following the recommendations of scissor happy beauticians
Hey Boo, we missed you. Glad to see you back posting videos you look stronger then the last time I seen you. I see progress & strong will. I love your hair videos.. welcome back. Is that a smile yass. Love to see you back being you.. u just went for a trim. It's more like she chopped it.. some people are just scissor happy

I am deep conditioning my hair while looking at this video. I want to grow my hair out, but how often should I be trimming the ends? You answered my question. Look how good God is. Thanks so much!
6-8 weeks for fine hair, thick to coarse 3-4 months. Deep condition with moisturizing product, Moisture! Should 3c-4a/b get their hair blowed out or hot ironed before trimming? I am trying to retain length.
Thank you Linwood. I have thin hair and it's in its natural state. No relaxers, but I do have color. I know I should be, could be doing better by my hair. Cause I spend a fortune on hair products, Slap Caps etc. I hear ya loud and clear💯‼️❤❤❤

@@mulliganstew72 I have a cheap pair by Con Air from Wal Mart that came with a tiny barber comb, and a pro set of shears (I think I paid $35 for a 5", on sale from $60) from Sally Beauty.
😍😍😍😍😍 Sooo glad to see you back. I hear that strength! Day by day babe..day by day! Now...LINWOOD!!! HELP!! So a year ago, I took my locs down..with a small pin and rat tail comb, My undercut and sides were tapered so now that my hair has grown (and been trimmed only once to even it out), I have two textures. My hair is the same curl pattern as yours but it may be slightly finer(thinner). The sides and undercut is BEAUTIFUL...curls hold soo much moisture but this middle...BABY, it's a rougher curl pattern! Is this due to me just having two types of texture naturally or is this due to taking my locs down? The set I took down was in for 5 yrs. I started that set 2 days after taking down my first set of locs which I had for 2 yrs. Prior, I probably had heat damage before starting my first set but I assumed that hair is long gone with as much cutting I've done throughout 8 years. HELP!! Oh..and my hair is very fine.. anything makes it break...weight. tightness, etc..which makes it hard to style without damage!
Praise God for His strength and power! Linwood! WE… LOVE…YOU! Your teaching is phenomenal! Just love how you share it too. Love you, love you, love you! Mega thanks! God bless you and your family. Love, huge hugs and prayers still going up. ❤️🙏🏾

I just lop off the ends of my,now, thin hair whenever they are knotting. I used to take great care of my hair until I was diagnosed, now I just don't have the energy. Is it OK to wash my hair in cold water? You have probably already done a video on the best way to wash your hair, I'll go and search your back catalogue🤗 Thank you for your informative, never ever dull, videos 🙌🏽
Idk if I'm doing it right but I cut whenever I get the urge. That may be why my growth isn't where it should be. I just love how informative your videos are. Thanks!

I’m so glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
Love this video. God bless fam!! You answered my question as to why my cousin (who is licensed and has her own shop/products) RARELY trimmed my ends. We are going for length and she always conditions me and steam treats my hair!
Sounds like your cousin is taking good care of your hair! ❤️❤️
Happy to see your video pop up in my reminders! Stay glam! 😊
Thanks fam, Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for your feedback! I’m trying to incorporate more to make things a bit more visually engaging!
What are your thoughts about straightening hair to trim it? Especially, if one never wears their hair straight?? Thanks for your videos!!
Yes. I hope he sees this question!
@@Ann-xm4yq hopefully lol there are a lot of comments on this video :)
I prefer a blow out to straightening for dusting my ends.

Great question
My absolute pleasure! I’m so happy I could help! Thanks for watching!
You sound well. I'm glad to see you smile. . .
So glad to see you again. Thank you for the info. My hair really needs help.
It’s good to be seen! Thanks for watching!
Oh wow, it's so good to see you. You and the family been in my prayers. Love your videos. I learn so much.
Thank you so very much, I appreciate your prayers, and I appreciate you watching 🙏🏽💚
When do you trim your ends is it every three months more or less how many months
Great tip about a using a moisturizing conditioner before a trim
I’m realizing how much split ends I have after looking at your two videos they are very very helpful it’s very hard to find someone that knows a lot about curly split ends and how often to be trimming them thank you!!!
Hello Linwood. I am so thankful to have located your GlamFam Channel years ago. Your confidence and dedication to educating others makes you a gem. Thanks for all you do.

Linwood, i am continually praying for you and your family in this altered season of your life. Excellent teaching as always!
I am deep conditioning my hair while looking at this video. I want to grow my hair out, but how often should I be trimming the ends? You answered my question. Look how good God is. Thanks so much!
Thank you.for the growth of my hair. I never could get it as long as my shoulder and know it's past my shoulder. SO THANK SO MUCH.
Thank you Linwood!!!
My favorite teacher!👌
My joy! Thanks for watching!
6-8 weeks for fine hair, thick to coarse 3-4 months. Deep condition with moisturizing product, Moisture! Should 3c-4a/b get their hair blowed out or hot ironed before trimming? I am trying to retain length.
I trim every 6 months. I dont deep condition either. I rarely use heat and sometimes I use grease Everyone's hair is different.
So nice to see u doing what you love again. Been praying for u 🙏🙏🙏
So happy for you. Glad to see back in the saddle.💞
Great to have you back!!!
It’s good to be in a mental space to be able to film & edit. I’m still facing my challenges, but I’m better than I was.
KEEP GOING GLEN!!!!!! We love and appreciate all of you.
Thank you Linwood. I have thin hair and it's in its natural state. No relaxers, but I do have color. I know I should be, could be doing better by my hair. Cause I spend a fortune on hair products, Slap Caps etc. I hear ya loud and clear💯‼️❤❤❤
I NEED A HAIT STYLIST........UGH you have made me want to take care of my type 2 fine natural hair.. 🥺🥺🥺 I am so happy to seeeeeeeeeeeee you omg your light is our glow and please when you feel alone you have GLAM FAM
Can you do a video on deep conditioning properly and the different types of deep conditioners? Ty and glad to see you're back 💕

You do a great job at explaining HAIR. Thank you.
I just dusted my ends last week. It's super easy to maintain with good tips from you, Linwood. Great video!
What shears do you use?

Great vid as usual. You're so informative and the way you deliver information makes it easy and fun to learn. ❤️🙏🏾
Thanks so very much! I appreciate you watching!
A joy to see you sir!
Keep shining! 💪🏼💪🏼

I've learned so much from you and I thank you for all your information.
By the way I am so proud of the strength you are maintaining. God's got your back, hang in there.
Thanks!
Love how in depth this is…. Thanks Linwood! Love ya 🤗
