1988 I was 17 and bought a 1960 cadillac sedan deville for 300 dollars. I miss that car so very much. I am so happy to see you doing this to the two door coupe version. That car was so fun to show up at high school with. Dang I miss it. This one you have is going to be Mint! Love your channel

The basic compound in rust treatment is phosphoric acid. It usually sold in various levels of dilution. It interacts with iron oxide to form iron phosphate which is a black substance. I usually like to sand off the iron phosphate the best that I can. Some brands of metal prep are so dilute as to be worthless and ineffective at converting rust. Home Depot used to sell it in a very concentrated solution. The metal prep leaves raw steel with a greenish color. Too much metal prep on raw steel leaves a powder which should be wiped off. Excellent video as usual.

Karl, This is akin to 150 years ago, when friends came over and raised a barn!
Fast forward, to 2022, friends came over and lowered the front end of a Cadillac to slam it into the ground!
No axes, abs, hand drills for pegs, scarf joints, wooden folding rulers or post & mortar joints!
Parts and applications are things many forget to write down, organize and create a “Service Manual” for the vehicle build. Electrical repair can be an expensive adventure if someone with excellent skills is ask to diagnose, locate and repair the fault when they have different colored wires, random fuses & relays to find and test.
Just thinking out loud for the resto-mod builders as we all have cameras in our phones. Connector labeled C100 are front, C200 are firewall, C300 is dash and so forth. Grounds are “G” whatever. Each circuit shows one item from B+ at the top, device in the middle and ground at the bottom. End each chapter with connector location w/photo # 119 (Example) and place in the back of book, CD or thumb drive. This also increases resale value when that day comes!
    Just saying…. Very sweet job!!!!

Karl, I've got two more tips for you! On that rusty metal after you are finished forming it and before you are ready to put an edge prime or epoxy primer on it or POR 15 or whatever your choice of colorful elixir, I mix up a little bit of hold tight 102 and spray on there or apply to a rag and wipe it down. I know you already know about that product but it's weird some people don't ever use it except when blasting surfaces but of course it works fine unclean Metal too. That is tip number one. Tip number two is to grab your door skin Hammer when you are doing that hammer forming and putting a flange in I use mine and it has a little crook on one side (it's double headed) and it gets right in there close to the folding edge perfectly.👍
