    I have a Uasure II I got in March. About 70 bucks. Strips 30 bucks for 20.
    Here is my experience and learning on this: the real way to minimize uric acid is to eliminate consumption of fructose and take it easy with alcohol. If you have insulin resistance, you will likely have elevated uric acid. Mainly because the insulin resistant liver makes fructose. If you pile on with a fructose laden diet, it can go sky high. You cant eat enough meat/purines to cause a problem if you cut out fructose.

    • @robertdaymouse3784

      Thanks for sharing. But not my experience. I have eaten very little fructose over the past ten years. But I still had very high serum UA levels (6.5-8.5) before starting a UA mitigation practice.

      @DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath  2 года назад +6

      I have to politely disagree Peter.
      I appreciate your work as you know it do. I agree with the fructose and the alcohol for most people. I wish it was as you say, and perhaps it is for many but it also is NOT for many. Having tracked my numbers, and there's great variance. I haven't had fructose for years, alcohol some, I find meats (aka purines) are still a stand alone variable that does affect many people, certainly me. I have people track their diet, and we do labs. Many Docs out there with fine reputation are saying what you have mentioned above, like Permutter et al. We all want it easy, simple, and effective.. and cheap. I don't buy into the one size fits all.
      Labs provide a context on a per person basis that can provide specific recommendations. There are enough factors to make it not a black and white situation. Clearly though, IR and alcohol are at the top of the list, Purines (I so wish they weren't: I love both liver and shelf fish) are as well. Low omega 3, etc, etc.
      The Gold in this conversation, I believe, is that each person who's concerned with this, can absolutely find what works for them and tracking your own data, with tracking your diet for a period of time will more than likely provide the solution.

    So after listening to many hours of vids by many different YTers I went on a mission to lower my avg glucose cuz that was where health was. If I could get an avg below 85, ideally below 80 that meant I was correcting my insulin resistance. That meant I had to IF or even Omad daily to get there, eating sometimes only 7 meals per week. I heard somewhere that the uric acid Test can be affected by vitamin c. I wonder if that is what made your results so low. I understand vitamin c can actually lower uric acid, but not that much, in this case I think it might be the fact that it is creating a false negative kind of thing. Thoughts, experiments? Thanks, I appreciate your work! Your an inspiration.

      I had thought of that. I didn't find much to support that in the literature, though that could still be true.
      For me, diet of meat in the range of 1.6 - 2grams of protein/ kg ideal body weight, coffee, wine periodically, no sweetners other than stevia, citrate, liposomal vit C periodically, and cal/mag citrate has kept my number reasonable. Makes sense evolutionarily as well in that we lost the ability to make our own vitamin C and limited ability to tolerate fructose at about the same time.

      @DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath I really appreciate your videos and replies. Maybe you could experiment with the vitamin c and testing and make a video. I use camu camu, mixed thoughts on ascrbic acid. I have been testing my uric acid some. I need to get a little more into it, I run and lift, and eat a ketoish life style. Sometimes my uric acid is 10 something, other times 5. I have not tested consistently over enough time with enough Journaling to know what causes it to be high or low, but I am guessing the hard workouts with intermittent fasting and 2 pounds of beef contributes. So I am currently trying more eggs and yogurt, and including potatoes and beets and carrots and squashes and avocados for calories rather than the meat. Still like to hit 1g of protein per pound of bodyweight. Coming in at 190. Always adjusting my diet. But I find raisins or dates or fruit and my gums start to bleed.... I think nuts might cause this too..

      Steve, the Brand is Fora 6, however they now are only available by prescription. Clearly this meter, and btw way they've improve it by adding additional features as well, is so outstanding that the FDA had to limit it's overwhelming popularity by making it to purchase by removing it from 'over the counter' retail availability.
      It is no longer available outside of prescription currently due primarily to it incredible performance and reliability. You will have to ask your doctor to prescribe it to you.

      Do you know your actual UA numbers? As much as I advice everyone to go with out all forms of dairy for two months and then retest, before resuming dairy, as a independent factor dairy is 'supposedly' not bad for UA numbers. Meat in general, really too general, can be problematic for many usually if they are insulin resistant already, and / or having fructose, and processed carbs, wheat, starches. Mostly in the 'meat' category is about organ meats, cured meats like prosciutto.

    At about 23 minutes into the video you show test results for both of you, Karl & Judi. I find it interesting that from 7/5 to 7/8 both of you have fairly low uric acid levels and then the next day on 7/9 they both jump up and remain up for the remainder of the days shown, so 7/9 to 7/12. Dr. Goldkamp, have you looked at this and seen if there is anything the two of you did different to cause this and has it reversed later to a lower level? It could be a ton of different things, maybe some food you ate, or a change in exercise routine, or you started using a bad batch of strips that tested different, who knows. Maybe you have some incite? Please share if you do. I am new to your channel and love your information. Thank you!

    • @DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath
      @DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath  Год назад

      Indeed it did. A couple of things. we were just testing randomly but at the same time and did mix an number of variables together so it could have be done differently, and will be done differently in future videos. I've done a strickly fasting one with the 4 strips and will show that. I believe in this video it was that we worked out and tested afterwards.
      Things I would do differently is NOT take or have any form of vitamin C. That will give an erroneous number for the glucose big time and it will lower you UA. So depending how exact and specific you want to get I think it is good to stop all supplementation for a few days to have the readings be more 'natural'. But that's a personal choice. There's a lot you can do with this that does yield insight.

      Yes did both. It is interesting to see how workouts affect UA and before and after a eating, and what your consumed. time of day makes a big difference, mornings are higher because of the fast of sleeping. Most important is that one's levels are far from constant so comparing same time each day is important for relevance.
