Wow, you both look so much younger and healthier than you did a year ago. Congratulations on finding the right combination of lifestyle changes.
I'm 54 and had an ankle replacement 5 months ago. It was the result of damage from an auto accident in 1990 and decades of a bad arthritic ankle with no cartilage. My goal is to get younger now that I'm finding my right combo of changes. Thanks for this info. It fits me perfectly. PSMF, ketovore, Intermittent Fasting and now Slow HIT. THAT is the answer that I have been looking for to add to the others. I haven't walked properly for over 30 years and I'm learning to walk normal again. I wanted to strengthen my legs, but wanted to be cautious with my ankle.
I'm compound heterozygous with the MTHFR gene mutation and the above changes have helped improve my life since learning about my methylation problem in 2017. You and Judy have so many ideas for people like me. Thanks. And congratulations to Judy for her new channel.

I grew up in the mountains in the late 70s there were a group of "old timers" who never stopped, usually outside activities. Not an ounce of fat on any of them and you couldn't tell their activity levels from a 32 year olds. The oldest was a WW1 veteran! I thought this was how you were when you were older and was puzzled when i saw people pretty much giving up in their 40s in lowland towns and cities. I had the best role models possible in those gents and I will be like them, won't give up, don't give up people.

So much has been learned about how to have better health.

If you look into Eastern Orthodoxy, they follow fasting disciplines that are exactly what science is discovering about diet and the consumption of food. Orthodox Christians fast about 50% of the year. I know they don't eat on Wednesdays and Fridays. They also have special fasts during the year. They also emphasize exercise, work, and being active and fighting laziness. This is also in conjunction with their spiritual disciplines. They have been practicing what this man is saying for 2000 years. Amazing.

THIS is an awesome post Karl, & is definitely "something (we should all be) interested in". In fact, it was some similar slides I saw recently- the cross section/leg/var. age examples- which really hit home for my husband & I in our pursuit of best practices for our age & longevity. I was listening to Sean O'Mara, who was a guest on another Judy's channel ("Nutrition With Judy") last week, discussing sprinting as a viable method of increasing muscle mass, while reducing visceral fat. Of course, these are at the top of the list for us, along w/proper protein intake, fat ratios & such. Sprinting may not be the best exercise for either of us, but it sure got me thinking about it differently- how we can adapt our gym routines & so forth.
I recall about 20 yrs ago the HGH craze was 'sweeping the nation', & people were even having home parties around the stuff, much like Tupperware & those stinky-candle-chemical-concoction MLM gigs. The human growth hormone was sold either as a sublingual spray or tincture, & folks were dumping TONS of $$$ on it , which I thought was insane, all things considered~ aka, reality. The main claims were weight loss, increased energy & focus, the usual. I remember thinking it was flat creepy, for one thing, plus I had no access to research tools at the time, so I declined. I was also in my late 30's at that juncture, & not yet putting my future health & wellbeing as a priority. My how things change over a couple decades!
I am so grateful for the amount & type of data available now, as well as those who choose to dig deeper on a professional level. It's both encouraging & reassuring to hear your thoughts & findings in line with the precise topics we are eyebrow deep into studying & implementing. Once again, you are right there w/the info & graphics that make it so easy to grasp~ thanks for sharing all that you do. -The Whitson's in AZ

Now I'm one month into this diet and I feel great. I’m 66. After waking up, around 6 in the morning, a cup of coffee and a banana I work out for more than an hour. In the late afternoon I do 3 series of correct executed pushups, abs or neck training. As an example; when I do my shoulders I still manage to perform between 15 and 20 pull-ups, 3 series broadest grip, 1 set shoulder grip. Then the dumbbells and barbel portion.
I practice I.F. For over 8 years now. I eat healthy and have banned all but natural sugars a long, long time ago. I don’t drink alcohol (not a drop) and I don’t smoke. Every day I meditate for about an hour. When I go for a walk in the afternoon I still feel like 30. When I’m on holiday a lot of other guests around the swimming pool hate my guts. A little payoff, by no means essential but motivational nonetheless and always funny.
I don’t have any knee, back or other health problems. I don’t take any medication. I don’t give a toss about reaching 70, 80, 150, or 250 years. What I do care about is my well being, physically, mentally and emotionally in the here and know. And I can assure you I feel great from early morning until bedtime.
And believe it or not but more than once people have asked me: ‘but don’t you miss a lot in life?
    ‘Seriously???’

@@DrKarlGoldkamp-KetoNaturopath For 30 years now, I reformulate a secret CCCP adaptogenic tea formula developed over 50 years (1935-1985) by Dr. Israel Brekhman et al. whose 1,000 scientists studied plants from Primorsky Krai out of the Russian Far-East Medical Research Institute in Vladivostok; in fact, he coined and defined the word 'adaptogen.' 1,500 Russian studies on 500,000 people show 11% and 17% static and dynamic strength improvement, 20% eyesight improvement, 50% reduction in mental error, improved dream state, balance, color perception; marked reduction in alcohol consumption, improved spousal and progeny and workplace relationships...used by athletes, chess players, athletes, ballerinas, and cosmonauts; and political bureau. It could be used by professional sports teams, recovery clinics, and for PTSD. Many, including this writer, will attest to significant realized benefits, #1 being 7 kinds of stress relief, the originator of most modern ailments.
In 2021, a study in Sweden partially replicated Brekhman's conclusions using modern metabolomics applied to only three adaptogens' synergistic benefits, eleuthero, rhodiolia, and schizandra, to discover the mechanism of action for stress relief (Selye's 1929 model) and improved mitochondrial function (hence well-being.) Results demonstrate increased production of sub-cellular melatonin (not blood serum melatonin that regulates circadian rhythm) which is an IR function provided by sunlight. This thusly increased NAD+ output from Krebs cycle feeding the electron transport chain, thereby creating more ATP, the energy currency of the body. The adaptogenic formula clinically tested in Sweden is called Adapt232; results and detailed analysis are on Pubmed. Parasympathetic stress relief and eustress related benefits were concluded, primarily in improved HPA-axis function limiting cortisol triggering by adrenaline glands.
"The aim of this study was to assess the effect of a single dose of ADAPT-232 (a standardised fixed combination of Rhodiola rosea L., Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Baill., and Eleutherococcus senticosus Maxim) extracts on mental performance, such as attention, speed and accuracy, in tired individuals performing stressful cognitive tasks."
On the immunological side, the mushroom phellinus linteus has cured lung cancer in two months, mixed with other powdered conks (ganoderma appalantum, fomes fomentarious, chaga, tramedes versicolor.) I harvest these in the boreal forest here in Alaska and combine with the adaptogenic tea; the immunological/adaptogenic tea also has 'cured?' throat/esophageal cancer and prostate cancer. Worked so far 100%, pretty tremendous combo. We could be in a new era of medicine if big Pharma didn't control the FDA and doctors could recommend proven supplements not only drugs. Funny how the FDA temporarily withdrew NAC and now NMN from supplement market. And why aren't most cancers treated as mitochondrial fermentation issue, as Dr. Otto Warburg discovered in 1929?
Another top TCM supplement is TUDCA, and from natto in Japan there is K2-MK7 which has many benefits #1 is decalcifying arteries as it activates matrix GLA protein (increases lifespan by reducing arteriolosclerosis.) Hey, hardly anyone knows TUDCA (synthesized bear bile) relieves histamine issues in 15 minutes (it works on MAST cells), performs mitophagy of those mitochondria for which the endoplasmic reticulum has difficulty folding proteins, and decalcifies aortic valves (so you don't have to get Ross surgery.) K2-MK7 doesn't decalcify aortic valves, only arteries. These two have many more benefits.
Thank you, Dr. Goldkamp! Love, and thank you for your honesty, such a good quality. Nothing replaces diet and exercise. We are preparing to live on spaceships! Protect the liver, the silent killer; feed the gut, it talks to the brain through the Vagus nerve. I'm a carnivore at heart and add colorful berries and veggies, calling my diet ketogenic as I don't mind fasting. My understanding is upping DHA EPA and ALA intake extends lifespan ~5 years by improving Omega 3:6 ratio. My studies go deeper, and I try as many supplements as I can afford; I have a good lab in China that supplies me by the kilo, and I scrape by supplying others. I think Biden takes J147 for improvement of cognitive impairment, apparently it works, a little, thankfully, so he doesn't press the red button, yet. I've got more tricks up my sleeve, love helping people and improving lives, especially my own. I feel for so many citizens with 'insurance' relying solely on doctor provided scripts. Supplements do cost coins!

      @brianbrady3455 6 месяцев назад

@@joanjarrette8691 probably you take Synthroid; you can supplement with vitamins and minerals that support the thyroid even though you don't have one. Most importantly, the thyroid is associated with HPA-axis: GAIA 'Jump Start' adrenal support would be excellent - bite a capsule and mix with saliva a few moments, whenever you are going to do something stressful. Thyroid is associated with mitochondria which is sole source producer of our energy, ATP. You had very high ATP output before and now have much much less. Fix this taking PQQ, CoQ10, SAMe. Another pathway to increase ATP is to take a few pinches 25-40mg niacin throughout the day, or nicotinamide, nicotinic riboside, or nicotinic mononucleotide capsules - niacin being most cost effective although you may get a flush for a little while until tolerance builds up. Don't overlook B-12, it could be helpful. Taurine... taurine and B-12 used to give you wings in original Redbull. Not so much now. In support of Dr. Goldkamp's keto diet avoid sugar and starch, avoid trans fats and seed oils; take cod liver oil or another source of DHA and EPA Omega 3's, they produce lots of calories for energy. There are foods that boost ATP output, lots of videos on youtube... You should feel much better boosting ATP output, more like your old self, and you will burn calories, not wear them. Then you can do the exercises and running you love :) I'd recommend 10k IU D3/day, or more if over age 60, and mag glycinate for 7 months to trickle charge mag back into the bones, and in support of D3 uplifting calcium. Now you need some zinc as master regulator of the minerals. Boost ATP output and you will boost your energy. vit C too, for the missing thyroid - take 150mg several times a day, the body buffers its uptake if you take too much at once your urine will pass it and you can see bright color. Throw in some NAC, better to take glycine and NAC together- buy powders so you control dosing, even D3 powder is inexpensive - D3 is usually just sheep wool fat (lanolin) irritated with ultraviolet light; 500,000 IU's/gram, so don't get faked out by 'high' IU's. You can take D3 weekly 100,000 IU in one dose, makes no difference as it has a lengthy, maybe 5-day trip in the body; in the liver then the kidneys, then the bloodstream for bioavailability. It's now recommended to take K2-MK7 w/ D3 so calcium goes to bones not arteries, the powder is best deal, you can take up to 1mg a day, 1000mcg, which is a tiny amount, although the capsule sellers only put 100mcg in there, don't worry about 10x. Get an 11$ .01g scale.... so you can afford all this and mix a 'stack', take a portion of the stack daily. Take your savings and buy some excellent supplements from Wellavate: wellevate.me/karl-goldkamp
Use Head and Shoulders shampoo, it is 1% zinc. Take epsom salts (loaded with magnesium) bath, and smear the shampoo over your body first, your skin will absorb the zinc and magnesium. You may get a charge from the bath, no, not electric charge, you won't power a Tesla. The other thing is to do what your grandmother said...an apple a day for quercetin, strawberries for fisetin; they wash out senescent cells. soon you will be 'Undepleted,' like the movie.

I took igf1. I had a bunch of broken bones and a shoulder injury. I went 6 months with no results. But I didn't want surgery. I started taking igf1. It got me to 80 percent in 1 month. Only took half a cycle randomly. I took another cycle the next year. I'm stronger than I've ever been. My bad shoulder is now my good shoulder. I even throw faster. I'll take a cycle every year for the rest of my life now for sure.. my skin was better too. I slept hard. It's amazing stuff. Makes you feel like a kid again. I've spent about 2k on the stuff plus a couple other things. The igf1 is the best stuff. Most natural feel. I had to write this because how amazing it is. Your doctors will not prescribe this. You have to come out of pocket

i agree with your concepts in general. I notice that you pull your legs up off the bench when completing each leg curl and pick your upper body off the bench when beginning each. Both of these actions take create a break in the fatigue of the targeted muscle. The same for the bicep curl when you raise your whole arm at the end. I'm 74 and go to failure as much as humanly possible on each exercise. I do, however, since I workout alone, break form slightly to get that one last rep so I can get the benefit of the negative portion of the rep. This isn't necessary if one has a competent workout partner who can help just enough with that last rep so it can be completed, with intense agony, so the negative can be completed.

I identify with and endorse this. I take an exception with "to failure". I have found that "to pleasure" (if you can sense it) works visibly and functionally. And it affects strength (higher), endurance (more), sleep duration (less) and ease (more). I'd also add jumps (muscle toning for internal organs), and stretching. All this concerns weights in my case, but doesn't have to. Consistently variable diet. Sugar not excluded from menu, but wisely utilized (physical activity after consuming carbs).

    I liked Ur’ info.
My 78 year old uncle Kenny was telling my wife nearly the same thing only a week ago.
He only looked 2B approx 60 + years old a year ago, until he was diagnosed with shingles & he’s still recovering. He now looks about 70.
I sent him Ur’ link, so he can hear what Uv’ said.
    Thanx.

You start taking (whatever brands have best reviews) ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS!!! As we age we lose stomach acid. Regardless of what the quacks beholden to their pharmacuetical reps tell you, it's low stomach acid as a feedback loop to keep it closed when not eating!
Also very important: if you are taking ANY DRUGS THAT BLOCK OR INHIBIT phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) THIS WILL RELAX YOUR LOWER ESOPHAGEAL SPHINCTER!!!!!! Other things can also mess with pde5.
So research wtf ever med your taking, natural herb or anything.
I speak from decades of mistakes research and going through it. YOU NEED THE ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS. Some claimminutes will disrupt that ratio for anabolism or absorption. I don't know how much of that is true but I still do that anyhowI tried to eat regular but it's very difficult because the ppis totally make digestion not possible. In fact I just called the GI specialist I've been seeing and told her to f off! double and you will have actual acid problems.
