Disclaimer: LONG POST and the views shared here are of my personal opine, and not to dissuade fellow riders. To the outlaws, please don't jump the gun with lunatic comments and fringe loyalty. No f***s will be given, and none will be taken, so don't make a fool of yourself in the comments section. The Interceptor/GT are a great pair of motorcycles. After test riding multiple times, and almost writing a check to get one, multiple times and only to change my mind at the last nick, something about these twins just doesn't cut it for me. It has the charm, bells and whistles for a twin, a fantastic and an overall tractable motor, but something about it just says this isn't a long term motorcycle. Being a guy that loves torquey motors and coming from 2015 390s, the 650 twins have great road hold, the weight of the machine definitely helps it to its advantage during crosswinds and overall stability which makes it a true highway champ. But as soon as you turn the keys off the motorcycle, and call it a day, the connect just isn't there. I am not comparing 650 to the 390 in any way shape or form, I am doing this primarily from a power and torque spec comparo, the Duke 390 does have it own share of flaws, but there is something to that 390 motor that the 650 will never have, being a twin, being torquey, being a great highway champ, it just doesn't have that "Damn what a ride it was" feel good factor. It's like you reach your place, hang the keys on the key holder and that's it. Just a parotta and beef curry ride, it just doesn't spice up things the way one would like it to be. Good to see Strell bring in the charm back to the old dog, narrate his observations in a clean and open way, I echo his comments and that's mostly what I'd felt and experienced when I rode the bike, for a little while. Nevertheless a decent machine to ride onto, definitely not a long term machine to hold onto. No wonder one sees lots of Interceptors/GTs up for grabs at cheap prices on used markets, should say something.
Have you tried cb300r ? What is your opinion on that bike . I am looking to buy either 390 or interceptor or cb300r My heart says go for cb300r but my mind is not convinced . Basically I am confused between these 3 bikes
My opinion : If you guys are buying a bike for around 3.5 lakhs Duke 390 is the best choice 2nd interceptor. If you can find a very well maintained used one 2017/2018 and newer it offers much better value.

You didn't ask me but I'll tell anyway, don't buy anything but a bike with atleast 40bhp other bikes are just not worth it IMO. If your budget doesn't allow just save up and get a big bike you can handle it for sure
It will not be easy but it's doable. Bike is not scary like ktm 390. It has friendly power delivery. I think you can go for it but before going for it just ride some different bikes( from friends or relative). Basic knowledge of gears will do the job. With in 10-15 days you will get used to.
What is the risk of overheating in this motorcycle? Since there is no heat gauge, how do we know wheather the engine is overheating in traffic or riding conditions. Is there any failsafe measures in the ecu to prevent overheating?...
Why Interceptor 650 is cheaper than Continental GT 650, If it was only about the handle and seat then the price could be a marginal change but why there is such a big leap of price change? I like interceptor but since Continental GT is more expensive I wonder what could be that headturner reason? Help me out on this confusion?
