- We need to do some fixing on my 1995 F250 Powerstroke. She won't start, won't blow, and she's slowly falling apart. But we can fix it!
See my post about the relay: ruclips.net/user/postUgywkR5wJ7z8LyXEBrR4AaABCQ
i guess I'm kinda off topic but do anyone know of a good site to watch newly released movies online ?
@Daxton Jace Thanks, I signed up and it seems to work =) Appreciate it!!
@Casey Myles happy to help :)
Hey dude if your 99.99999999999999999999999999 -40 years later- 999999956% sure Just yank and change
I totally disagree. I would rather you talk and explain what is going on.
Just be Wes ,keep talking ,this is how I learn
I too want to hear Wes talk
I sub to about 100 channels. Wes is in the top three for intelligent conversation. Do not listen to the trolls. Please.
Yep, how else would we get the humour too!
Some people watch videos at increased speed when they feel they're presented too slow, those guys who don't like talkin' can try out the mute button imo.
Please, Wes keep talking. I really like your comments and intelligent conversation
Don’t talk during a video? Nah forget that, your hilarious one liners is what I like. Like the prison shank comment was funny 😄
Heh. Glad someone caught that!
@@WatchWesWork I loved the little comments and the prison shank got a chuckle out of me too.
Lol!! I also caught the DEEZ NUTS, comment!! 🤪🤩
For some reason his "What is it pup, is Timmy in a well?" comment cracked me up! Wes always has some dry, sarcastic humor I tend to like.
johnnykache1000 yeah that line made me laugh too. I do enjoy his humor.
Wes, please keep up the commentary. This is what makes your channel great, the humor and your talent as a teacher. I like your wildlife footage too, keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
@@WatchWesWork if they dont want talking there is a volume level or another channel.
"prison shank" "is Timmy in a well?" you are on a roll. Love it!
The BEST part is you talking. You say stuff that kills me and I love hearing your knowledge explained.
No keep talking. If you don’t tell us we will never know if Timmy has fallen in the well?
Keep talking man it makes it more entertaining hearing the wighty thoughts that come out of you in the middle of your work
Keep up the commentary Wes, like your sense of humour.
If you are noticing that your heater is only putting out air in the defrost mode it is because the white vacuum line near the passenger side hood hinge on your truck is disintegrated.
Replace that rotted line with regular rubber vacuum hose. Cut it back into the loom so you can connect to an area of white line that has been shielded from UV exposure. The other side of the line goes to the actuator on top of the heater box.
Great videos and I appreciate the fact that you film the humility you experience instead of hiding it like in the DT466E oil pickup tube bolts that were "missing".
Keep it up!
Also noted that you have the old tailgate in your scrap bin. Those aluminum trim panels on the tailgates are worth a few bucks to others if you toss it up on craigslist.
I'm with the masses Wes; keep on talking! And thank you!
Keep talking. You’re like the cool, laid back shop teacher
Your truck is like most vehicles owned by mechanics, the last one that gets proper attention. The way you talk while working on stuff is much like I do when I'm working with my kids. The best way for others to learn is to explain what you are doing and why you do it a certain way. Just subscribed because your videos make sense to me and I might just learn something along the way. Keep up the great work.
mechanics always have shitty car/trucks, theyre super minty though
Totally agree. In my 25 years of turning wrenches, being tied down in someone else's shop all day, I never wanted to touch my own shit. Just go home, eat some dinner and relax. I am sad to say I neglected a lot of stuff on my vehicles because I burned myself out with everyone else's junk all day. Lol so true
From the 16th century: "Shoemaker's son always goes barefoot"
don't worry about the negative people............i enjoy watching wes work
I am a non-mechanic and I enjoy your dialogue. I learn a lot even if I am not interested in actually working on vehicles. Keep up your great channel.
Also must say: thank you for the time and effort that shows on these videos. One of the better, no-nonsense presenters on youtube.
“We shorted it with our prison shank” I love it
I enjoy the commentary! Keep talking!
The wheels haven't fallen off yet so keep on driving it.
I don’t think you talk too much. It’s nice to know what you’re thinking as you go about your repairs.
When the bracket dropped out of the press and tipped onto the floor, my thoughts were simple. Been there - done that. Keep up the good work Wes
Dude, talk, it's why I watch. Those silent videos are strange. IMO
Love the videos Wes! We can all learn a lot by watching because you care enough to explain what and why. Keep up the great work. 🍻
Thanks! Will do!
Talking while you work is ok. Perfectly normal...even when you are by yourself...not crazy!
About your truck, must've the same one at home!!!
talk too much? Eff that! I don't really work on most of what you show, I am an engineer and do little actual work, yet I watch every episode and always learn something. Thanks!
I don't think you talk too much. I love to hear anecdotes, fun facts or tips and tricks. I learn while watching your videos ! Kudo to you !
keep doing you Wes, we watch you because we like what you do, not because we want you to change
You forgot to mention the most important feature of the F250... it's paid for.
True.
Damn right only takes a second to sign the finance agreement can take a lifetime to get out, Paid Off is a wonderful peace of mind.
It took me a long time to figure out the value of "paid for" but I finally got it. So I sold my leased car and bought an older one that I could pay cash for then every month I saved the amount I was previously paying monthly. Before long I had enough to buy a nice car for cash.
Dick Day, you are a wise mind
@@fillg And it's not just vehicles.
17:07 that resistor-looking part is a thermal fuse. They go open over a certain temperature. I have replaced them in waffle makers and such. They're 10 for $1 on eBay or AliExpress from chinese sellers :)
There usually is a temperature {in degrees C} printed on the fuse. Stay as close to that value as going higher could cause a fire!
They even bury those in transformers. Replaced one in my early 80's hifi amplifier two weeks ago.
Replaced many of these in all kinds of electrical stuff. Its purpose is to prevent overheating of the resistor unit when the motor is blocked.
Thanks also for giving us a glimpse at that nesting Robin and her three blue eggs; haven't seen that in a long time.
The best thing is it's paid for, drive it till the wheels fall off!!
Talking through you work makes your work understandable and I enjoy it.
This truck is like an artifact to a simpler time of the 'bare bones, no nonsense truck', in regard to the plainness, the spartan interior, no headliner, etc. Nowadays all trucks are luxury cars that drive like cars and nearly all of them are 4-door crew cabs.
10:30 I want you to talk, I want to learn. The commentary makes this what it is. If you don't talk you could just watch anyone on mute for that matter
Wes I personally like watching you fix stuff regardless of what it is. I learn things about mechanic work. You are the Mustie of diesel IMHO.
Well thanks!
"Just show the work don't talk"
BS - keep talking, it's your insight and reasoning that makes it interesting
“What is it pup? Is Timmy in a well?” 🤣🤣🤣 Big fan of your humor. Anyone telling you that you talk too much needs to learn what mute is or the volume function is for. Don’t change, Wes.
Talk all you want Wes as it makes it easier for the majority of us to listen and personally I enjoy the explanations.
Thank you I enjoy your videos.
Hi Wes your subtle sense of humour constant dialogue and expertise are great keep it up young man. You your wife and son what a great team....never forget you have dedicated fans all over the world.
Nick Jarman Hey Wes, I enjoy your narrations, I'm a recently retired mechanic- industrial and automotive. A lot of younger guys that are interested in learning and fixing their own stuff appreciate that someone can explain why and how to troubleshoot equitment and problems. Keep on keeping on !!
I'm one of those younger guys working on a 92 f150 I just bought. ;D Between. RUclips, forums and the Heinz manual I haven't come across something I couldn't do myself.
@@ThePugSmuggler Just picked up a 7.3 like Wes, a bit newer. All the knowledge I have is from watching these videos when they came out. Now I'm able to come back, look at them in more detail learning everything I can about this motor. Helping a lot on diag. :>
Your discussion adds information, I appreciate it.
I wouldn't watch without your commentary, I don't know much beyond the basics, so knowing what is going on and the learning experience which makes it interesting. For what it's worth, I think you also pitch it at the right level, neither dumbing down nor overcomplicating. Please continue doing the exact same thing. It's good that you ask though.
Thank you!
You know the reason I watch these videos is to learn, and if people think you talk to much there is a volume button they can utilize.
For those who don't know exactly what you are doing, your narration is most helpful. I don't not like doing car repair, but enjoy watch and understanding what a professional is doing. It is also a great way to learn enough about the repair to help prevent those mechanics whom are not professionals from taking advantage of those of us who are not professional mechanics. Thank you for your narrations.
Wes, I greatly enjoy all of your videos and have learned a great deal of indispensable information from them. Please keep it up just the way they are. Many thanks and take care!
Thanks, will do!
10:15 - Some people watch videos at higher speed cause' they feel they're too slow. Those guys complaining about commentary can try out the mute button.
You talking and explaining what you do, makes the videos much more enjoyable in my opinion. It's easier to enjoy the content and learn from the creator with explanations and demonstrations. Helps the viewer feel involved I think. You have a fantastic way of expressing methods and some of the science behind stuff. After binge watching 90% of your videos so far, I am very happy I found this channel. Keep on keepin' on sir :)
I personally prefer to hear you talk. Keeps me AWAKE! Kidding, you make very interesting and informative videos. Thanks, Wes.
My two cents is that you keep the OBS. You like it enough to keep fixing small things here and there, and there’s nothing terminally wrong with it. Seems to suit your needs while being a little rough around the edges, but I think that’s the epitome of a “good ole work truck”
Protection from being stolen..keep it rough.
We refer to your SOS as "the hospital"... parts go there that are sick but if they sit there long enough then they become healthy and perfectly fine to reinstall.
"The people" in the comments should stop talking !
I can’t imagine why anyone doesn’t want to hear your explanations. Even an experienced mechanic
I think talking about what you’re working on is an important part of the video, I certainly enjoy your humour and the casual way you go about your work.
Can’t be easy Wes to work on a vehicle and film at the same time but I do enjoy hanging around your shop while you work, I also enjoy the family atmosphere
that exists at your new place. Keep up the awesome work! 👍
I like what you have to say. It's how I learn. Between you, mustie and Andrew camarata, I am a better human at fixing, repair and saving. Many thanks for your time and sometimes a laugh.
Thanks 👍
Yep maybe don't take to many tips off Andrew about fitting radios and repairing heater controls lol.
@@shoots2001 anything wrong with fitting the radio using a chainsaw? :p
2:00 never would have thought you would have such fancy hand writing for a guy who puts battery's on the concrete.
I write like a doctor.
I for one still follow this rule about batteries but I’ve accidentally left a new battery on garage floor for like a week. it worked fine
I like the Commentary!... Trolls have short lives anyways ..
It’s nice to be able to have an outside supplier for parts conveniently “close by”. When I had an equipment service business, they required me to warehouse $10k of their parts in-house for each manufacturer supplier. It was very ery expensive and they took up a lot of space in my shop.
That shackle or whatever falling without resistance the second you released the press and your sigh; is a core memory for me. Good shit.
Sounds a bit like my '68 GMC! I love videos like this. Even if it's not something I'll likely work on in the future, I've always found it entertaining watching and learning how things are repaired. Knowledge is power! Keep up the great work, and thanks!
I love when u talk us through it I learn a lot more I love that truck to
The current format works fine Wes! Matt C.
Why I like your channel so much - your commentary. I’m diesel mechanic and I love your stuff.
Thank you very much!
Just want to add that outside of those defects she is cherry. I like your talking. You are clear and humerous
" hey pup is Timmy in the well " LMAO been saying that for years, people look at me like I'm from Mars, keep talking and ignore the thumbs down, if they ever did anything and make a video of it they might not be so quick to hit the thumbs down, the floor and the seat are the only thing that would make me want a newer truck, and the lack of a/c too, great job keeping up with the maintenance
Hey, wes. I know where there is a 7.3 IDI with a real nice body that has a bad engine that runs but maybe a bent rod. I suspect it has a bad injector that caused a hydro lock. 1991 model right along Interstate 70.
One thousand dollars buys it. I could not believe how solid it is.
Special thanks to your early-morning assistant :)
Love watching Wes work, talk Wes talk. Be safe
this guy is a great mechanic and puts out fantastic content
Keep talking. It’s your narration that makes these videos so interesting. Also, you have a wealth of knowledge to share, and I think your audience appreciates it. I’ve watched videos without any narration, and let me tell you, they get real old real fast. On the other hand I can watch yours multiple times, because each time I watch I come away with something new. Keep up the good work. Not only do you entertain, you inform. And how many on You Tube do that? Not many.
I try. I'm not sure how successful I am.
talking in videos are good it helps me learn what's going on and how to fix it great vids keep it up
Hey Wes, great video as always! I like your commentary. It's interesting and I prefer people explain what their doing and why and the gaffs and one liners are great! I also have to give you credit on only doing the spring hanger bracket! I'm in the salt belt too and I just get mad and torch the rivits off the frame and melt the rubber bushings out of the spring eye and replace all. Take care bud, eagerly awaiting the next video!
That little "resistor" on the resistor pack is actually a non resetting thermal fuse.
Yup, and nothing a piece of wire soldered across can't fix lol.
Hi from South Africa. Please carry on with commenting. Silent movies went out of fashion 100 years ago! :-) The goody that went open in the fan resistor is a temperature fuse. Used in kettles, irons, tumble driers, cookers, hair driers etc. They cost about $0.50 and the temperature it fuses at is usually printed on the side. You can just jump it. They are usually placed by manufacturers to force failure and then replacement. We are not supposed to keep stuff working remember! Throw away society! Thanks for the great videos.
Watching this brings back the EXPERIENCE I had on a Ford from the salt belt. Getting the bolts out and the rivits cut was bad enough, but getting the spring back down through the hole it rammed in the floor of the truck bed when the bracket broke was a real trip. Keep talking and thanks for the vid.
Function over form my friend. I say make the interior comfortable for you and run it till it gives up the ghost. You don’t plan on entering it in a beauty contest do you?
I learn when you talk, love your videos.
I appreciate that!
Keep the talking Wes, as we are learning a lot.
Your talking and discussing/explaining what you are doing is great. So refreshing that you are not continually griping and complaining
Wes the best part of your videos is your banter you are easy to listen to and informative. Thank you
still not as broken as the newer fords or other makes for tht matter xD
Don’t listen to them. I like your videos with the sarcastic talking. Haha. Keep up the great videos
Thanks, will do!
Ah, that's a thermal fuse. that's to keep it from overheating (and stating on fire) when you are on the lower speeds but the fans not spinning.
Yup, thermal fuse.
I agree with those below...keep talking. I've learned a lot about how newer cars/trucks work by watching your videos and listening to your explanations. Its so different (much more complicated) than what I used to work on years ago.
Project Restore it .
Love the sound of a big diesel .
I killed my V6 tdi Touareg a few weeks ago .
Insurance said no .
So now I have an 05 jeep kj liberty . 86000 miles on it .
No rust . It’s so basic compared to the Vw .
Old trucks like that ford deserve to live on .
Great video Wes . Love the way you work .
As said by others- I learn by listening to your explanations, keep talkin'
Your videos are fine........that's why I watch them!
you just keep on talking also keep using Dielectric grease I'm an old Ford mechanic poured like to corrode Dielectric grease helps slow that process down good job keep it up
your use of many idioms is one of many things I love about your channel.
Lol I thought that dohicky was a thingamabob. Lol
Some people will never be happy. Keep talking. That’s what makes the videos interesting. It puts a little bit of who you are in them.
“Prison Shank” 😂🤣😂🤣
I couldn't make it without your dry humor dude, keep talking.
Hey Wes keep em coming
I enjoy the commentary it’s the reason why I watch your channel and south main auto. Learn a lot from both of you.
Wes, for those who don’t want any talking in the videos they can re-discover their volume control! I personally enjoy your commentary and teaching!
Talk as much as ya like as long as its work related, no issue
I like everything you do you're a cool cat
Do like they do here, put a flat bed on it when the bed gets too beat.
Keep talking.
There's only one (okay, two) guys on YT that really pull off the no talking bit, and the stuff they do is very... contemplative. Mr. Chickadee, and Primitive Technology.
Love your channel Wes.
For us guys who don’t know anything we appreciate the talk. Good thing about the metal fan blade is it will make quick work out of anything that might take up residence within your heater. Nice video.
The blown "resistor" in the blower resistor bank looks to be a thermal fuse.
Thermostatic fuse on the blower motor resistor module, super cheap on eBay or from any of the other usual suspects like digikey or mouser.
Also keep up the commentary on the video! Love it, it’s what makes the channel one of my favorites.
Your truck reminds me a bit of our '72 International. Replaced the hood and one fender with a Better one. Less damage than the prior one. In the past the homebuilt flatbed replaced the original, but someone didn't anchor it well enough so it found the cab and has left permanent band on the cab where the two have contacted. Similar floor boards to yours, old AA battery jammed between the back of the cab and the cab support crossmember left a corrosion hole and bulged area. It is rough, but it pushes a snow plow hard, will drag whatever you put behind if it can get traction and it is paid for. Appreciate the videos and talking through your thoughts and steps as you work through your projects.
I worked at a shop that had a similar International for moving trailers. 345 gas V8 engine. At one time it even had a train hitch to move train cars around the yard!
Use a lawnmower starter relay that has two terminals for the relay.
