All the others are doing high end, super fast, super awesome rebuilds, but Randy, like me, goes out and finds the little cheap gems that no one else wants, fixes them to be safe, and reliable, as much as possible and then sells them through Weird Beard Auto Sales. Thats another AWESOME channel. Right now, he's painting a 2001 Ford F150 Harley Davidson truck that Randy bought. They collaborate all the time. My point is this, YOU, Westen, are doing what the average truck DIY can is looking to do or already doing and you show just the right tricks and solutions. I love it. Keep them coming and I hope to see an auction Video soon. I'd love to hear what goes on in your head when shopping for a truck. I bought 2 cars, sight unseen, they were both run and drive, 1 salvage 92 caddy and a 2000 Accord v6 coupe with a busted ODO reading 320k. The car was and is in too good of shape to have that many miles...anyway, like you want to know all that. But, I learn something new everyday from all my "Friends" on RUclips! Video is forbidden at auctions. but from my experience auctions are a rush and worth getting the dealership license but in starting a dealership with a full time job it can be done u just have to work hard and do tons of research
I absolutely love the 6.2 gas engine. excellent power, good torque and great fuel economy while doing so. go old oil field truck right there. i would love to have another one of those.
Spot on about the 5.4L Ford engine; I own a 2003 F150, 7700, and that thing is the most unresponsive/slow responding vehicle I've driven. On a brighter note, Westen has a great sense of humor, and impeccable timing w/his delivery, it's always fun to see his acquisitions, and hear his jokes.

Just picked up a 2010 Ford Taurus AWD for 500 bucks with no major issues, previous owner thought it needed ball joints but the only issue was a tire lol

My company uses gas f250s. I had a 4x4 2014 4 door long bed. It did not like pulling mini excavators or skidsteers. I now have a new 2018 f250 4 door long bed with the 6.2 and this thing pulls like a dream. I loaded a 10,000 lb 305 mini and got an inch of rear end sag. Love it!
I See a lot of these as fleet trucks for oil and gas companies. They are field service trucks. They get serviced regularly and mechanically are normally pretty solid. Good find.
I react the same way when i buy a car from an auction and theres actually nothing wrong with it. Even i got excited when that truck was running like it did. Good shit 🙌🏼
I have driven and worked on them all, those Ford 6.2s are rock solid platforms and will go 400K plus miles. So much better than the old gutless POS 5.4 3 valve.
@@pryme2013 I guess if you don't mind throwing water pumps, air injection pumps and ECUs at it and being stuck with a truck with a max towing capacity of 10,200 lbs. when properly equipped.
@@FloridaSaltwaterLife 10,200 is plenty for 99% of people. If you need to tow more yes you will need a 3/4 or 1 ton. I've never seen any of those other issues you mentioned personally. Certainly not on mine. I read about a couple of the air pumps but not on any of the more current models.

11:50 yessir....I have a 2017 with a 6.2L, tows like a boss. Doesn't have the launch my RAM or Titan had but the 250 is impressive when it comes to rolling into the throttle when you're going down the road.
If he had a 5.4 that ran like that there must have been something wrong. We have a Mark LT with a hypertech tune in it. Leaves 5.0's and ecoboosts sit.

My first truck had a 5.4 too, pretty darn near the truth bout passing semi’s. Mine had a exhaust leak and the lifters clicked so loud it sounded like a diesel almost
Every now & then someone gets a salvage win. For christmas I bought my gramps a Durango, we were ready to go get a trailer to tow it home but since it only had a scored up fender we wanted to try getting it running first. All it needed was a battery and a key cut, and it fired right up. At the end of the day we drove it home for a grand total of $1100 (clean title too). Seriously, only damage was that fender. Interior was pristine and everything worked flawlessly save for steering being outta alignment. Even the tires were fresh on it

Buddy of mine has a Dodge Ram Cummings powered truck. He pulled the transmission 3 times because it wasn't shifting properly. I made a suggestion to him and he unplugged the transmission looking at the connectors then cleaned them with an spray on electrical cleaner. Plugged them back in and the trans shifted properly. The look on his face was what? I had heard from a dodge mechanic the electrical plugs weren't as good as they should and handed me a can of electrical cleaner saying just spray this into the electrical plugs and it should fix the problem. Problem solved and that was over 45,000 miles ago. Cheers!

We use 15 f350 with 6.2 as wreckers... only problem is exhaust manifold leaks... good trucks decent fuel mileage 200k+ on motor .

R Pruneda Jr I found an ‘04 that had a real bad knock, and it did a nice burnout for a truck that had 200k miles and hadn’t been serviced.

The exhaust leak is a normal thing on the 5.4, I recently put a new one in my truck and I can still hear the lifters over an after market exhaust

That 6.2 is one of the best gas v8's ever made. My 2012 has given me no grief in 120k miles, and pulls 14Klbs with ease.
