Hello from Ireland, enjoying your videos quite a bit here! Regarding the non commentary on the forklift fix, i was able to follow what was being done while only having a VERY basic understanding of mechanics involved, and a little guess work on my behalf as to whats happening on screen. I think id prefer the commentary as i enjoy hearing your take on things and the step by step detailing you do throughout your work, and your thought process behind it. Your diagrams and explanations of systems are very helpful to the average joe soap like myself without an in depth knowledge of the mechanics involved! Thank you for the videos, keep up the good work and looking forward to more videos in the future!
My dad was a mechanic, a country mechanic, he would and could fix anything. But for a long time he was a John Deere field service guy, he loved the damn things. I love your video's, it takes me back to working with him in the '70's and '80's doing virtually the same stuff (without the rust here in Aus). Don't change anything you do especially the chatter, anyone who doesn't like it can bugger off I reckon.
One of the primary reasons I subscribed to you channel was due to your commentary, probably one of the best , clear, easy to follow and very informative. I wouldn’t listen to comments that say otherwise.
Nice video! Seeing wiring jobs like that never fails to make me laugh! Also I think commentary is essential for learning something which is a big part of why I watch your videos. Well that and the humor. Keep it up!

After 18:55 it's awfully quiet Wes, no not my favorite WWW style, it was nice to watch you work again but as said it's awfully quiet ... and by-the-way ... your using the file wrong😂
Yep. I'm working on fixing up a old International 300 Utility and half the hydraulics fitting are barely hand tight and the other half make up for it by being so over tight it takes a 24" wrench to break lose 1/2" hose fittings. That and apparently every hose that only needed to be 24" - 36" long had to have one at least 42' - 60"+ in its place and any hose that needed to be 40" - 76" long had to be made up of at lest 2 - 4 miss matched 18 - 36" pieces. Then to really make it all head scratcher. Any bolt that that anything pivoted on that was loose had to be welded (Baddly) in place rather than being replaced with a new one of the correct diameter and length.
@@tcmtech7515 Oh wow! That sounds like some of the stuff I've worked on in the past. Really makes you wonder what people were thinking when they did stuff like that...
@@kd5byb Oh it gets better! " When I had the new tires put on I had ~ 400 #'s of solution put in." BUT IT'S ALL IN ONE TIRE .......... W T F? HOW....... WHY!!!?????? Both tires were replaced at the same time. 😵😵😵😵🤯🤯🤯🤯 The previous owner had both rear tires set all the way and I needed them all the way in so I figured that the easiest way to move them was to just take them off the axles and switch them left for right. First tire assy was easy to take off and move around by hand. The second one needed a forklift to move. (same forklift holding up the tractor while both rear tires were off.) Beyond that, every lug nut and outer rim bolt was rusted solid in place (but still lose enough to not hold anything tight to what it was supposed to) and needed to be rethreaded to be usable enough to hold things in place until I can get to town tomorrow and get all new ones. That was not how I wanted to take 30 minute tire switch around and turn it into a 3+ hour hard labor job. 😋
Thank You for Your response. I absolutely appreciate Your commentary. I like the interaction with Your Wife, Son, and Dog and getting his head stuck between tire and bumper keeps it real. The feedback You gave about this multi cultural John Deere tractor with pieces from GERMANY, FRANCE, & maybe JAPAN shipped to USA for assembly then redistributed around the world. Without Your commentary and hydraulic hose kit sent to You showed the real complexity of skill and knowledge and sourcing skills to evaluate what the hell they sent You and then to figure out the kind of adapter and thread from what country standard is required to make it work. I don’t say this lightly but YOU ARE THE SMARTEST MECHANIC ON U TUBE. My Buddy is 79 years old and he has many houses and lives part time in a gated community with many GM vehicles in PHOENIX. Bruce also has a classic CLSSIC CADILLAC ALLANTE, and a VAN AT PHOENIX. I quit buying GM after purchasing a 1979 Cadillac right off the front page of MOTOR TREND MAGAZINE.The car was baby blue with stainless steel sky roof with baby blue diamond tufted interior and was absolutely stunning with maximum load of accessories. I am a retired electrical Superintendent building huge mining Projects around the world. I know a lot about process control an wiring but I always get stymied by automotive wiring.
Good technique on bleeding out all the air out of that tilt cylinder!
I like you explaining what you're doing and why, that's how I learn.
You’re using your file exactly like I would. Good save on the pup.
Keep it up!
Without you talking its like having a shop background noise simulator, I could play the video in a mother tab and feel like I'm at work, keep up the chatter Wes! Its good stuff
After 18:55 it's awfully quiet Wes, no not my favorite WWW style, it was nice to watch you work again but as said it's awfully quiet ... and by-the-way ... your using the file wrong😂
Heh. Well it was a fun experiment.
@@WatchWesWork hope your convinced to keep talking
I really like when you talk on your videos. It's very educational and entertaining! Please don't do the silente videos. Thak you.
I like hearing you talk and explaining what you are doing!
I love hearing you talk and go through the process
"Helps if you tighten the hoses" If I had a dollar for every time I've done something like that... :)
Yup....drained 10l of coolant onto my driveway recently because of this reason lol
" When I had the new tires put on I had ~ 400 #'s of solution put in."
BUT IT'S ALL IN ONE TIRE .......... W T F? HOW....... WHY!!!?????? Both tires were replaced at the same time. 😵😵😵😵🤯🤯🤯🤯
The previous owner had both rear tires set all the way and I needed them all the way in so I figured that the easiest way to move them was to just take them off the axles and switch them left for right.
First tire assy was easy to take off and move around by hand. The second one needed a forklift to move. (same forklift holding up the tractor while both rear tires were off.)
Beyond that, every lug nut and outer rim bolt was rusted solid in place (but still lose enough to not hold anything tight to what it was supposed to) and needed to be rethreaded to be usable enough to hold things in place until I can get to town tomorrow and get all new ones.
That was not how I wanted to take 30 minute tire switch around and turn it into a 3+ hour hard labor job. 😋
Felt bad for that dog. He was really freaking out
Thank You for Your response. You did a piece on CADILLAC XLR, I ForWarded Your fox o the XLR in case he ever has an issue with it. Bruce emailed me back and he showed Your fix to another retired buddy that is a retired Service Manager for GM and they are both in a car club.Bruce showed him the Video and was super impressed and said You are one very SMART DUDE.
I am truly amazed that you are the best I know to work on junk that has been messed with many times and come up with replacement relays, pin connectors and rewire-it to make it work after it has been chewed on by rats and squirrels.MORE TALK NOT LESS.I-never get tired of learning. THANK YOU
Wow! That's pretty interesting. I guess the XLR owner posted the video on a forum and he said some of the guys were pretty interested. I thought it was interesting, but kind of obscure.
There was no forum involved this GM GUY and another good neighbor was the head of all plant and buildings for INTEL also retired and also in their car club. Very interesting and important people and now they have all heard about WES.
Oh man, so glad Max is ok after getting stuck in the fender well. Lucky he didn’t break his neck trying to pull his way out. You saved him in a nick of time. BTW, your narration is what makes the channel!
I just figured that when a mechanic is working on a Clark the "commentary" from the mechanic is rarely family friendly.
That's why I skipped the first hour of fighting with that pin...
@@WatchWesWork it only took an hour ?
I'm impressed.
2nd: I came to learn. Talk, please.
you are all good talk if you want, it good to find out thing, if you dont like it there is the volume control ya.
Hey Wes
This is YOUR channel, not anyone else's.
If they dont like it, they dont have to watch it, why would you even care what others think.
You have a whole lot more of us, who really enjoy your details on how you fix things.
Thanks for Sharing your videos
Great job on the tractor! I found that without you explaining what you're doing with the cylinder, I had trouble following along. I find it more educational and entertaining when you chat with us Wes!
That was so satisfying hearing the tractor running so good and really interesting seeing how the hydraulic ram was repaired, brilliant.
Love the usual commentary its very entertaining, no commentary is a bit odd
I like the narratives. I like to know the reason why you`re doing a step
I love the talking in your videos, so of your comments make me chuckle. Please keep making them I love watching them from over the pond in Great Britain.
Wes shows you that engineering is far more than swapping out parts - he is a good model for any youngsters who like to use hands and brain - so for me I much prefer him to ‘talk us through’ his reasoning to get a sound workable solution to the problems he encounters - many thanks Wes
