    • @VladDascaliuc
      @VladDascaliuc 2 года назад +1

      @@anotherrio9375 No, the filler is filler because it doesn't further character development and plot. I'm saying that they added way too much fluff for way too little development of whatever the main story is, which has really harmed the pacing of the show past the half way point.
      Having a chill episode after some serious stuff happening is fine. This show being a constant of half or more than half of "chill time" is just tone deaf for when something does happen, as it is not allowed to set in. It took us to get to the 10th episode for the plot to finally kick in, somewhat. Worst still, the worldbuilding is still total wack because it took a backsit in favour of the "Cute anime girls" thing.
      The show is fun. The animation is great (As one would expect given its background, I guess), Chisato's seiyuu is phenomenal and several of the funny bits are really well delivered. But I cannot understand where the overpositive attitude for it comes from, beyond what I mentioned.

    I like these two main girls as I like how different their personality’s and their relationship is interesting as well. I kinda like the fact Takina a cold & serious girl becomes a partner to energetic & light hearted girl name Chisato and seeing these two characters together is something interesting of their relationship. I also like the fact that Chisato changes Takina from being a cold hearted to become light hearted because of Chisato bright & cheerful personality. And as the result, it make Takina happy as well seeing her smiling.

    I can appreciate the animation and voice acting of Lycoris Recoil, and seeing this insight into the development of the anime is excellent, but did anyone not like the show? Everywhere I look it receives high praise as if it's anime of the year.
    I felt as if the plot and characters were a little weak. The motivations of characters, especially the villains, were weak and felt contrived. The special abilities of Chisato felt painful to watch, especially when she (or other Lycoris) makes trivial mistakes in some scenarios that seem out of character and only exist to advance the plot. Don't wanna write an essay, but overall the plot was underwhelming. In my opinion, the constant shifting in tone between the action, emotional/serious scenes, and the café slice of life scenes just made the show feel like it was confused in its delivery. Rather than establishing rules in the universe for certain events to happen, it felt as if the viewer was expected to suspend their belief for a few too many things.
    One last thing: is Majima fully blind or not? Part of why it's somewhat of a shock to learn that he is blind (I still don't know if he is or not) is how his character acts completely like someone who can see until it is shown that he has incredible hearing and can use it to analyze every aspect of his surroundings. It felt like an unnecessary twist just to make the fight between Chisato and him more interesting.

    • @izzyyheree

    There is a small but at the same time huge issue with this anime for me.
    It's magic "rubber" bullets that don't even leave a bruise on human skin but at the same time pierce walls, cars, and possibly armor.

    • @willyvereb
      @willyvereb 2 года назад +4

      I don't think they pierce armor and I don't think they pierced more than car doors or wooden planks. Which, surprise, aren't really that durable. Car doors are just two thin sheets of mild steel with some soft backing between. Unlike what TV shows demonstrate they are terrible as barrier. Same is true for drywalls, certain types of doors and so forth. This is part of the "reality is unrealistic" trope. These don't provide cover against even a .22LR.
      As for how a bullet which is supposed to be soft on impact penetrate anything... density of objects does influence how bullets behave. That and we don't know whether the bullets have some sorts of microsensor to self-destruct when hitting humans. They turn into red smoke on impact from the rubber or whatever material disintegrating so I figure there's more than just sheer impact at work.

    • @Evilprimarch

      @@willyvereb Bullets with such a sensor plus self-destruct system would probably have a specialized production line to offset their cost (and therefore be distributed to police to match the demand). Yet, they are nowhere to be seen, aside from feeding Chisato's gun, in a situation where the cafe had trouble making ends meet until certain plot point (an order for such ammo would be quite expensive, by the order of magnitude if ammo is not, in fact, mass produced). Additionally, I doubt these "super ethical bullets" would only act like that with humans, and say, not with animals by design, which, paradoxically, makes their existence even more unfeasible.
      Even weirder is the fact that bullet destroys clothes at the point of impact and dissipates upon contact with skin.
      These bullets ARE a McGuffin, no matter the possible justification.
      On the off chance, the bullets COULD be provided by Alan Insitute for Chisato specifically (which is the only explanation that holds water, unless there are other in-universe groups that hold this kind of future tech), but it also is confusing given the inconsistent timeline of Insitute's involvement with the cast - that would mean that bullets weren't always readily available.

      @@Evilprimarch Chisato stated quite a few times that Mika made it for her after she got support from the Alan Institute. They are completely custom-made. Also, non-lethal bullets are just made so they don't kill. They are suppose to hurt a shit ton (Hell, Chisato says you might even be better off dead than deal with the pain of them), so it's pretty logical that they would still be able to puncture clothes or aluminum (which most car doors are made of). That being said, the show isn't exactly insanely realistic in the first place, and I think that's fine personally. It at least *attempts* to be while still having characters with unrealistic abilities and senses, but at the very least tries to ground itself a bit. Sorry that this is a year late btw.

    10:16 I actually really liked ID-0. I think it's way underrated and flew under the radar. Sure, the character designs pulled me in at first but many other aspects were really good. The director was a veteran of action shows including mecha. The head writer was also a veteran of drama and action. It had a decent story with some unexpected twists. And Sanzigen's 3DCG was probably top notch for the time.

    Deleted my previous comment because I didn't want to receive backlash from simply wanting more daring ventures with anime originals even if they're far from foolproof (plenty of examples I've witnessed where they did fail hard).
    Honestly I'm really glad that Lycoris Recoil has been doing very well so far. It's quite funny how in many ways it managed to gather so much attention after even being initially advertised as most people thought was a mellow slice of life cafe setting. Considering the amount of attention it's gotten (it's always a top trender in Japan every Saturday), I wouldn't be surprised if it even gets extra stuff like sequels or spinoffs. Hopefully everything works out for the best.
