Some things that i feel are.
Ground clearance: Parking on side of footpath(where ever allowed) is a boon on high GC. Sedans lower than 160-170 scrape their belly
Ingress egress in an suv for daily driving is a no no. Especially if you have ladies and or elderly.
Water lodged roads. Suvs have their air intake on the higher side.

Not all users of the car, especially the passengers are the youth. Sometimes parents may request taller cars (not just about ground clearance) based on knee comfort during ingress and egress. A sedan demands they almost half squat or even full squat based on how low the car is.
Also, your point is not made by car sales numbers.

In a SUV road visibility is relatively good. You seem to be intimidated by the higher riding height SUVs near you on the road if you are in a Sedan. I agree that Virtus, Slavia have a higher riding height as compared to other sedans, but practically I will be getting a much lower resale price for a Sedan as compared to an equally popular SUV ❤, so even though Virtus, Slavia are one of the best cars in the Market, because they are Sedans, most of us tend to steer away from them as many buyers (me too), will also keep in mind about resale value of that car in the future.😊

SUVs have higher center of gravity and, hence, offer least stability while cornering. Also, short wheel base does not offer stability at a high speed braking. By and large, SUVs braking distance is higher than Sedan. Besides, hard suspension layout in SUVs offers uncomfortable driving experience . However, for off road driving experience, SUVs can manage better than Sedan.
And finally, you can't compare German technology and driving safety as against Korean SUVs or cars..

Im Satisfied multiple Honda City user, but as per my usage what i miss most in any sedan is due to low diameter wheel and tyre it doesnt glide over bump and give more jerks on potholes than any suv.
For daily city use as most people are considering automatic and sacrificing mileage over comfort. Likewise people considering suv because of low road noise and less jerk.
I seat in co passenger side for 1.5 hour daily in city. But whenever I seat in compact suv i feel less tired.
It is same difference like if we travel with window rolled down and ac off, we feel more tired during journey. Like wise in sedan in its perfect only for driving pleasure and highway commute.
My conclusion is sedan better for single use and highway driving pleasure use, and owns multiple car in garrage. Suv is neutral for family use. For single car owner i will suggest suv only. Even if maintainence and average costs 10% extra. In resale it will comensate in future.
Sports car owner doesnt use them daily. And now even in luxury segment suv market share is more than sedan because of comfort and practicality use.

Practically for cities, sedan is no competition. People going for compact SUV is more herd mentality. We Indians have a mentality to buy what other wants/buys and not what is our requirements.
    Benefit of Sedan (Virtus/Slavia/City/Verna)
    - better leg room at rear seats
    - great boot space (compact SUV can't beat it)
    - better driving dynamics, less body roll, and comfort.
    - better mileage and aerodynamics.
    Cons:
    - ground clearance (except for Virtus/Slavia)
    - headroom for taller people (for average height passengers this is not an issue.)

parking a sedan in a dense part of city is a pain

    • @cnsapam
      @cnsapam Год назад +1

@@chaitanyachaurasia that’s true but unless one is buying it to use it primary for city market shopping, the other benefits outweigh the parking issue .
I also carried the same opinion of parking issue with sedan, as am staying in Mumbai.
So far I had 2 hatchback since last 15 years (Alto 800 and Fiat Punto 90hp) and shied away from Sedan.
But as my 2 kids are growing up, feeling the space constraint both seating as well as boot space when traveling. So, practicality wise Sedan makes more sense now.

90% times I'm driving alone. 5% with a co passenger and 5% with four people. Rear seat space doesn't matter.
The next point is manouverability in city. CSUV wins there.
Another concern is oncoming cars headlight. CSuv win
CSUV have better sun protection advantage. You can clearly see in this video the steering is under sun. Csuvs have less slope for front windshield hence giving better sun protection.
Sedan is great but when I'm upgrading, i will choose csuv

Sirji, with due respect to your points, 'where to park this haathi'? Vento was, below 4.4metres!! I think, for crowded Indian roads, small cars are an advantage! You don't drive on expressways, always!! Your drive would mainly in city roads!!
So, parking, & moving the car in traffic!! On average Indian roads, you can't overtake a three wheeler, even on a two wheeler!! Where, & how to drive this( not procession type) other than highways/ expressways? As you reside in India, you know, people get killed, for parking, now-a-days!!( Point VW designers ignore?)

No doubt, Skoda & VW make excellent cars. But it's expensive and not upto the taste of Indian mindset. Buyers of these 2 cars are class people. But these days I can see lot of used Slavia & Virtua , in less than 10000 KMS....

if Ground clearance is a concern for anyone, 165 or 170 or 179 mm won't matter.. if you're going to drive on not so good roads, the min GC required would be 190 mm+.. which only SUVs provide. Road presence for mini SUVs is a sham.. among the options in that segment only Creta provides some road presence. Taigun/Seltos/Kushaq look tiny.

Please understand matters before going on to make videos and promoting youtube channel. Before lecturing me know this that there are double digit no cars in our entire family from VAG not only VW

I think if you want to travel with family and want to carry good amount of luggage, nothing beats these sedan. The Compact SUVs don't have enough boot space for 4-5 people for longer trips. And if one can adjust with the extra length of the sedan then, sedan seems better than compact SUV.
