Found your channel while searching how to teach my dog scent games. Great explanation and breakdown of each step. I've always found training to be daunting, but showing how to do it in an actual living room using readily available things was super helpful. Thank you posting this!
Thanks so much for tuning in to the channel 📺 I’m happy you found the videos to be helpful. Best of luck in your dog training journey. Continue to get after it!

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video:) .... and can I use this training to teach my German Shepard to alert me when I’m going to have a mirage headache so I could sit down cause I also get dizzy spell and sometimes passing out. And how long will it take for she to alert me? Since service dogs are so expensive.
**NOTE: While I don’t mind answering questions in regard to dog training, I do not personally train professional service alert dogs and I am not a licensed lawyer or veterinarian. I am a professional dog trainer, but without seeing and working with your dog in person, I'm not responsible for how people interpret and use the training advice I give over the internet. With all that out of the way, in my personal opinion, one first has to teach a dog what to detect. One method, for instance, for dogs that are trained to detect migraines, is for one to use a basic saliva swab with cotton balls when one gets a migraine and place the sample in an air tight container and freeze it for later use in training. One could label them based on the factors of their experience (severity, intensity’, etc.). One needs to decide how they want to shape the indication (pawing, barking etc.). Then one needs to teach the dog to alert him/her when he/she smells it. After enough repetitions of “scent” “alert” “yes!”, “scent” “alert” “yes!”…. a dog will start doing the alert behavior upon smelling the article. This would take someone plenty of repetitions because one will then have to switch to different samples so they proof the behavior and ensure the dog is not alerting on something else that could be contaminating the target odor. One will eventually have to introduce “blanks” to further proof the behavior. From my personal research, a fully trained detection dog can take as much as 2 years to train (perhaps more), with at least 1 hour of total practice every day. Remaining free of odor contamination is a big factor in ensuring a dog is alerting on the correct scent. Even the slightest amount of contamination can set training back months. Again, do your own research, but I hope this was sparks your interest to dive deeper into the topic for yourself :)
Thank you! Just finding your awesome videos. We have two golden doodles...one LOVES balls/agility and the other LOVES using their nose...this game is great for one on one bonding with them.!!!
Awesome! Thanks so much for supporting the channel. Glad it was a little helpful in your dog training journey. Scent games are always a good time with my pup and I.
Good video but the music is way to loud. Especially at the end is actually louder than your own voice which us distracting and takes quite a lot away. Great game though. I use variations of it.

How does he signal that he has found the treat?
Could I do this with odor? Or do you have a different odor game we could play. TIA
