That's what I figured!! Cause I didn't think Kratos was ever worshipped like a God nor did he ever want that but I didn't play the originals so there's that lol
The scene in the tent where Kratos is on the verge of tears after telling the story really got me. As a father I completely understand that fear, not of death, but of not being around for your child when they need you.
@@everiite it changes you forever in ways I can't even explain, but you'll know exactly what I mean when you become a mother, all your priorities shift and you discover new hopes and fears. I have never been afraid of death, but now that I have a son I'm terrified of it for that reason alone.
When Freya showed up with the nose and started strangling Odin, I couldn't help but notice how similar it was to when Baldur and Freya met at the end of the last game. Even the dialog was similar. Baldur to Freya: I've spent the last 100 years dreaming of this moment. I practiced everything I ever wanted to say to you every word to make you understand exactly what you stole from me. Freya to Odin: I've spent many long winters thinking about what I would say to you as I watched you take your last breath. Baldur to Freya: But now I realize I don't need you to understand anything. I don't need you at all. Freya to Odin: But now I realize there is only one thing I need you to know. You have no hold on me anymore. Then as Baldur was choking Freya to death, Freya said that she loved him. And as Freya strangled Odin he said, "I always loved you."
The God of War (2018] & GoW: Ragnarok has to be one of the greatest stories of redemption I’ve ever seen. In the past, Kratos did many, many terrible things. Even he saw himself as a monster. Knowing his past does help, because he was betrayed so many times. It’s no wonder he became so distrustful. Seeing how much he’s grown and changed in these games is such an emotional journey. The Valhalla story is also incredible. Even more so in what was a free DLC.
1:34:00 he stayed behind to basically create a shield from the blast that ragnarok was creating so the rest could get out safely. If he didn’t they all would have died when he slammed down his sword. That’s why you hear and see him get overwhelmed at the end before everything flashes white.
1:47:45 he seen the worshipers, when he was on the Olympus rampage Heara reminded him hes never had anyone worshop him before. The path showen gives him that chance.
This popped up on my fyp and even though I finished the game long ago, and I almost crying at the end, Your emotions and commentary just from this ep made me happy and tear up again at the end. Amazing channel
Mimir saying "A hole, it gets bigger the more you take away from it" was referencing Brok's riddle that Mimir couldn't solve It came full circle to simultaneously describe Sindri's current termoil while Mimir finally figured it out
The reason the final panel actually hits kratos is cause that’s Faye’s painting, it caps off her arc of defying fate. She saw him as something greater than he could ever imagine.
The transformation that Kratos has experienced is simply amazing. I know you said you didn't play the original games, if you'd had you would have experienced the reason Kratos feels such regret and never thought he could be worshipped for anything other than war and death. Kratos rampaged through all, killed the innocent, cared not about the ruin of the world on his quest of vengeance. This is why he's so adverse to the idea of Ragnarök for vengeance and ultimately decides that it must stop, that the cycle has to end and they have to seek justice. To those of us who went through the OG games the 2018 God of War was already an amazing switch of gears, but Ragnarök was the most satisfying thing ever. The last panel of that mural was so important because it showed him a future that he truly thought would never be, a god worshipped out of love and not fear. If you notice the symbolism in his appearance you'll see his skin is no longer ashen and it looks like there are particles floating off of him, if you didn't know his skin is ashen because he was cursed to wear the ashes of his dead family as a reminder of his betrayal. It's something that he thought he could never forgive himself for, yet here it shows that curse lifted. Also, Faye wanted them to take her Ashes to the top of the mountain in jotunheim because she knew they would find the mural and it would set them on the path. As for Freyr, he stayed behind to hold the sword in place. If he hadn't Ragnarök would have plunged the sword on the first strike into the heart of Asgard and they all would have died. You probably know all that by now though :).
Your GoW 2018 playthrough is how I found you. I knew I was in for a hell of a ride, and here we are. I'm glad you started this journey. These games mean a lot to a lot of people. GoW 2018 beat RDR2 for game of the year, and this game would have taken it last year if not for Elden Ring. When I first found Tyr in the prison I remember thinking that it was a shame we didn't see him until after endgame. I felt like he had so much more to offer as a character. Without saying too much, I can say I feel better about that now. This was a beautiful journey, and one I'm glad I joined in on. Thank you for being you, and have a wonderful day. TILL VALHALLA!
Damm laughing you're making me Tyr up 🥺 fr tho I appreciate you being here and enjoying the series as much as I enjoyed making it! GOW definitely means a lot to me now too. I also agree with Tyr only being endgame but like you said TILL VALHALLA!!!!!
I remember feeling so many emotions for this game when it first released and you just took me back, definitely was shedding a few tears once again right along with you 🥲 amazing series and amazing game 🙌🏼
1:45:05 he sees the foretelling that not only is he a god... but a god worthy of worship which is something kratos had essentially given up on. so he cries slightly when he saw that and it renewed his hope that it could happen
Atreus knows what tomorrow is supposed to bring. Kratos knows what tomorrow is supposed to bring, and yet this is the only time in the game where Kratos doesn't wake up in a panic from a dream with Faye. He's accepted what might happen and is willing to face it so there can be a future for the realms, his friends and his son.
Realized: Faye had to change destiny for Kratos and Atreus. In order to do that, she sent them on the quest to open Jotunheim and spread her ashes. Which couldn't happen unless she were dead. Basically, she died to save her son. Go on and cry. I did.
The right-most panel that Kratos looked at and got emotional over is different than the others. If you look closely you can see that it is Angroboda's painting style with her signature color (yellow, the same color we saw in the painting when she first met Atreus). She painted over the original panel (which I believe was a death scene), to nudge Kratos in the right direction. I also think that the long look she gave him before leaving was meant to convey so much-to us, to Kratos. The story was so well written that every word and every gesture has meaning. Another thing I found interesting about that scene is that Atreus steps up on the rock and looks up, giving a nod. Who was he nodding to?
I thought it was just me crying 01:42:20 💔🌹 Ahhh this game is built differently i swear, every night watching it and still not getting tired 😢 Thanks for your beautiful reaction and those beautiful tears
first of all how the hell dont you already have a ton of subs? i thought i was watching some big youtuber the way everything is all nice and just, bro keep doing you, you're gonna be insanely big one day. praying for ur success, and ps, i cried all the times u did too, i think we all did lmfao
That is so sweet, thank you 😭💛 I try my best to make good videos. I'm also glad I wasn't the only one crying throughout the series cause DAMN was this a lot of emotions
That last scene always gets me. Kratos always believed he was beyond redemption. But that mural was Faye's last gift to him. That through Atreus, it was always his destiny to be redeemed and to become a god of good, protection, and justice.
This was a franchise that was built over 20 years, game after game, success after success, literal character growth over character growth, With the perfect cultural shift and story you could ever have chosen from the old faiths. I hope they never, ever try to turn this into a TV series, with the attitude of today, and for the foreseeable future, they would ruin what has historically been, a very successful franchise, story, and characters. People, if you are able, and want to show your kids a truly epic game story, invest, get all the games, and play them with your kids. Share this moment, for it took them over 20 years to do this, and we wont see its kind again.
@everiite the whole scene burns me because it's still fresh seeing my brother laying down in that casket. That's how it's always gonna be. Even if Im good for the rest of the scene, I can't get past "a hole"

Hey how are you?, I have a question for you, when you generally like to play ps5 is it everyday or weekends, If it’s everyday at what time you like to play?
The end panel shows Kratos being worshiped for the first time. Hits deeper after that conversation with Odin
It's kinda weird, because the norse games seem to forget that Kratos _was_ worshiped at one point; by the Spartans.
That's what I figured!! Cause I didn't think Kratos was ever worshipped like a God nor did he ever want that but I didn't play the originals so there's that lol
Not the first time Kratos is worshiped.
But the first time he is worshiped for wisdom and peace, as the panel shows, not war.
Oh my god I would cry if that happens. Kratos deserves it 😭

Sindri using Brok's hammer to smash the marble with Odin's soul in it felt satisfying.

@@OneMeanDragon Remember when odin said he would never be a god people would worship. This ending redeems it, with the mural.
The story kratos tells to aretus is a direct metaphor to himself telling that he can no longer carry the guilt from his past life
I fucking cried like a baby when Kratos opened up that last panel and teared up. There's so much to unpack there that words aren't even enough.

1:21:09 there is no afterlife for Odin specifically so this explains the whole scenario. Hope that helps
The moment Kratos decides to save the midguardians is the moment he breaks his fate. The character development from Kratos is one of the best.
