THE MUMMY (1999) MOVIE REACTION Развлечения
Brendan looks like he's getting pretty fit so maybe Universal will announce a fourth movie hopefully. It would be pretty cool to see an older Rick come back to fight mummies one more time.
I heard there is talk of sequel with original cast. The article came out 2 weeks ago
I swear Rachel Weiss gets prettier in every scene of this movie!
But gets way hotter in the mummy returns
Cause she loses clothes and is eventually tied up on a table, yeah
@@prometheus8010 🤣🤣🤣
Brendan Frasier was in the remake of Bedazzled with Liz Hurley, The live action George of the Jungle based off the cartoon. Encino Man and The Whale most recently. 😅
The Guardians of the city are called the Magi. They pledge to keep the Mummy from ever being brought to the surface.
Hamunaptra is the city where the mummy was buried. Anck Su Namun was Prince Imhotep's former lover who he wants to sacrifice Evie for so he can raise her from the dead. 😮
During the hanging scene Brendan Fraiser passed out during the stunt later it was found out that it was set up wrong. The stunt team apologized to Brendan in which he let them keep the footage in because he said it looked more realistic for his character.
Oh wow...that's terrible and crazy!!!!!! Made the footage look totally real...because it was OMG
The most interesting part of the Pyramids of Egypt is not what was in them but that could have been covered in marble.
When you see an attractive woman dancing in the disco...
Since 1999: "No other man was allowed to touch her"
Brendon Fraser was accidentally truly hung during the hanging scene because the retaining safety collar malfunctioned but nobody noticed during filming. Yepp, he did that scene himself , not a stunt double. Fortunately he survived relatively unharmed.
Edit: the scarabae or dung beetles were indeed a religious symbol in ancient Egypt. It was a representation of the Sun God, who was said to travel the underworld each night on his barge, conquer death, and be reborn each morning. Thus it was a symbol for rebirth and life.
Oh wow!!!! That's nuts!!!!!
If my memory serves me correctly Brendan was entering into his early 40s at the age was 39 when this came out in 1999, I was 8 years old at the time. *This movie is first of the trilogy.*
No wrong totally wrong. He was in School ties in 1989 lmao how can he be 39 ? He was 31 in 1999.
28:30 Beni ran off before the American team opened the cursed chest, so he wasn't one of the ones Imhotep had to drain to regenerate. He also didn't take any of the canopic jars with Ankh-su-namun's organs.
The Mummy Returns is pretty epic too.
Brendan Fraser was actually hung in the beginning. That was real. Also, the Arabic the Medji spoke. This movie was surprisingly authentic, which I think led to it being just so damn good.
OMG!!!!
Only one thing better than watching this classic...watching it with you guys ❤
That made us smile (: Thanks for enjoying with us!!!!
Such an excellent film! Brendan and Rachel have such great chemistry.
OMG, I love that movie!
(The historical accuracy is nil, but that wasn't what they were going for.)
You absolutely have to check out more of Brendan Fraser! "Encino Man", "George of the Jungle", "Blast from the Past", "Bedazzled", "Inkheart" to name but a few of his movies. He is one of the best and kindest actors. The Academy Award was highly deserved.
It's a shame what the industry did to him!
He is absolutely one of the most underrated actors, ever. And he's also one of the best people ever. These kinds of people usually don't stand a chance, sadly.
Thanks for the recommendations!!!! (:
Industry understands they need to start giving the stars that people love awards too and not just the independent favouritism that it plays. Anthony Hopkins, Brendan, cillian and Rdj look to be the changing tide
The language their speaking is correct, according to a IRL egypthologist
A couple of Brendan Fraser's early films I love is "God's and Monsters" (with Ian McKellen) and "School Ties" (with Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Chris O'Donnell and Anthony Rapp).
Thanks for the recommendations!!
SEquels to this movie: "The Mummy Returns" and "Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" -- all with Rick (Brendan Fraser), Evelyn, and Jonathan. However, in the 3rd movie, a different actor plays Evelyn.
0:20 Brendan Fraser is also in:
Encino Man
Son in Law (Cameo)
Bio Dome (cameo)
Blast From the Past
George of the Jungle
School Ties
The Whale
just to name a few.
Monkeybone is in my top 5
Glad you enjoyed the movie. This was a fun ride. Thanks for another great reaction.❤️
Thank you SO SO SO much for watching (:
In the early 2000s, this hit was booming from everywhere, for me the best work by Steven Sommers. It was shot in Morocco, which, of course, is a plus of the old school against all these "Green Screens" in the studios. The music, the actors, the casting itself, the humor, the exciting plot, and the magnificent special effects even today from George Lucas' ILM Special Effects Studio, the most advanced so far in cinema!) As always, the reaction from scratch to your favorite movie of your youth is more interesting!) This is an adaptation of the classic film The Mummy of 1932, and has become the most famous and popular!) The audience really likes to put it on the same shelf as the best adventure films like Indiana Jones!). Thanks).
We really enjoyed this! An awesome action! Thanks for watching with us (:
I love the Mummy trilogy. The 3rd movie lacks the chemistry of the first two because they had to replace the actress who played Evie but it's still a fun ride.
Other Brendan Fraser (fray-zur) movies:
Airheads
George of the Jungle
Blast From The Past
Encino Man
Bedazzled (remake)
Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008 remake)
Looney Tunes: Back In Action
Brendan Fraser was an ex-stuntman so he did a lot of his own stunts but he almost died in that hanging scene when it went wrong. He stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated.
Thanks for the reccomendations, Toodlescae! (: Absolutely shocked to hear about the hanging scene!!!
@@tktopmovies yeah. It's happened before on other movies but not to that extent.
I heard they are in the works of a sequel with original cast. I hated the 3rd film.
There are carvings of those scarab beetles in Egypt. So they must have existed back then.
OMG That's TERRIFYING!
Real-life scarab beetles, however, eat things like plants and detritus, not live human flesh. I love this movie, but its portrayal of any aspect of ancient Egypt is almost 100% inaccurate. (Except Evelyn's description of brain-scrambling during the mummification process. The ancients thought the brain's purpose was to produce snot, so it didn't get a nice canopic jar to spend eternity in.)
Honestly, the way Benny died was the best. It was the bugs and fast or he could suffocate to death if the place was completly sealed or starve to death or die of thirst since he had no supplies to survive.
A Perfect movie in my opinion 👍
I found this channel when you watched The Labyrinth and you quoted it in this reaction and I was so delighted.
The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they did get the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains (minus a slight omission): The embalmers used the hook to also punch a hole in the person's skull so the brain drained out when they were rolled over. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie.
Side trivia:
1. In the scene introducing her as Ankh-su-namun, model/actress Patricia Velásquez was completely naked with the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, pasties & body paint (body paint took four hours to apply).
2. Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that he had a near-death experience during a stunt gone wrong while filming “The Mummy.” The Oscar winner said he was “choked out accidentally” during the scene in which he had to be hanged from the gallows in the Egyptian prison, which resulted in him being resuscitated by on-set medical personnel.
3. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster (on flat land), but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the sand as they move.
4. After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading The Book Of The Dead (which is actually a funerary scroll in real life) and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish. On a similar note, the scarabs in real life were merely dung beetles, not vicious flesh eaters.
Peter O'Toole, who starred in the epic movie "Lawrence of Arabia", spoke about his experience of riding a camel during a very famous charge in the movie. There was no time or budget for really any rehearsal, and he and his costar, Omar Sharif, were scared to death. The night before the filming of the scene, O'Toole went to Sharif's tent and asked what he was doing. "Praying," said Sharif. "Well, I'm going to get drunk," O'Toole declared. "Oh, I'm going to do that, too!"
O'Toole said that once the camel reaches 30 miles an hour, it forgets it's a camel and thinks it's a gazelle.
Stunt gone wrong, omg! How terrifying!!!!!
@@tktopmovies Right? I would be scared and furious if that happened to me
Ooh, I forgot this one was coming! It's one of my favorites!❤😊
Brendon Fraser's ROM COM with Alicia silverstone from the 90's BLAST FROM THE PAST was a good film for him as well
The Mummy Returns is even better
Exactly 💯
rushed cgi disagrees
Story wise, yes. A certain CGI scene definitely disagrees.
The CGI would have been great if it was a video game... at least for when the movie was made. LOL@@RustyDust101
What planet do you live on? 😆
Favorite Brendan Fraser movies are Encino Man, George of the Jungle and Looney Tunes Back in Action.
The director Stephen Sommer did DEEP RISING before this movie and it's probably the best movie he made and it even stars Beni
The Mummy was one of my favorite Childhood Film's ever made and they used A lot of Biblical Events and Bible verses elements for the movie
You have to watch George of the Jungle staring Brendan Frasier
What a weird coincidence, awesome us movies reacted to this movie yesterday.
One of the reasons i love this movie is that when i was really young i watched this movie and got a huge crush on Brendan Fraser. Actually then i ended up having a crush on a guy from school who looked very similar to him. Haha lol i pined over that guy for a decade💀
One of my comfort films ❤
An awesome one!! We enjoyed (:
Why can't they make movies like this anymore 😑
For one, hollywood is completely out of ideas, and they're more interested in shoving politics down your throat than they are in making good movies.
Oh my God if you've never seen any Brendan Fraser movies you guys must watch bedazzled the best Brendan Fraser movie ever and always gets overlooked but it's his best acting
Thanks for the suggestion, Kathleen! (:
Great Reaction Guy's, Please Do The Sequel,The Mommy Returns,You Will Definitely Love That One Forsure
Thanks for the suggestion! Would be fun to check out the sequel!
@@tktopmovies Yes I Agree 💯
Did you guys ever heard about "Stargate"(1994)?
Never heard of it!!
@@tktopmovies then you can try it ❤
Thank you for this reaction! I really would love to see you react to the rest of The Mummy trilogy! The second film is the superior of the trilogy and the third film has a nice change of scenery for the culture and myths. Also there is a spinoff film series I recommend known as The Scorpion King. If you would love more Brendan Fraser films, here are some suggestions: George of the Jungle, Loony Tunes: Back In Action, Journey to the Center of the Earth, Inkheart, and Furry Vengeance. Also if you like another Egypt film, I highly recommend Dreamwork’s The Prince of Egypt and The Ten Commandments 1956.
🧟♂️🕋🕍🪲💛🖤🤎
Hey dcemerald!! Thanks for being here (: And those recommendations sound sweet! We've never seen those!!!! We enjoyed this one (:
Caught her red handed... 💀
Listen the bookshelves was her fault you have to admit that
Hahahaha! Yaaaay!
This was a good one!!! (:
Now you need to watch Blast From The Past for more Brendan
Thanks for the suggestion! Never seen it! (:
The cop at 13:32 is just making things worse. Cops are supposed to be calm and collected and he just got up in this guy's face, literally, and started insulting him and decided to put cuffs on him just cuz the guy didn't like how they were doing things, so the cop decided to flex and put the guy in cuffs for no reason. PLUS it was June of 2020, no one has masks on, and as a cop, he should know better! Being right up in the dude's face during a worldwide pandemic? This cop needed to be fired before this ever happened. What a fucking asshole.
Grea t movie. Beats phantom menace for entertainment
Brendan Fraser movies I've enjoyed and you may have seen or not have seen: "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and "George of the Jungle" and "Crash" and "Inkheart" and more I haven't seen so no enjoyment for me.
Thanks for those suggestions, Shirley!! We've never seen any of those!!
great movie (2 watch), that´s y I
All the love! Thanks for being here AnduWALY! (:
@@tktopmovies fs, fr. ;)
Looks to me like you're standing on the WRONG SIDE of the RIVER!
The Mummy " 1959
Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and was better
The second one is just as good, the third is meh
Thanks for good reaction and Video ! SEE ??when Hollywood USED to make GOOD movies with Traditional Romance with Male/Female roles and adventure that people LIKE with NO PC agenda , THE FILM works ! Imagine that!! Tried and True relatable themes ALWAYS work .. NO MORE PC REMAKES Just WRITE a good Original STORY and people will GO!!!
If you're uncomfortable with any reminder that the world isn't entirely hetero you can always ignore those movies that don't show just male-female relationships. 🙄
