she didnt. this is the result of LA’s decision to promote what’s supposed to be a revenge drama to a love story. this glorification of tomoe’s character to that of sainthood.. giving her too much credit than what she truly deserved. if you know the original story, you’ll know kenshin was already pure and honorable from the start and has already decided to stop killing before accidentally killing her. it was tomoe, in fact, who was changed by kenshin, not the other way around. because unlike her who was only fighting for revenge, the man was fighting for peace. kenshin’s vow is not only for her but also for akira and the many other lives he took. if anything, she gave him immense guilt, and an abnormal empathy to human suffering and intense appreciation to the value of life. she and akira, the original star crosse lovers on kenshin’s cheek, served as his reminder of his sins as a hitokiri.

“Goodbye to the second man I loved” Idk about you guys, but at least in the movies; Tomoe and Kenshin have way better chemistry than Kenshin had with Kaoru, in my opinion.
I always prefer tomoe than kouru as i prefer graceful personality vs cheerful. Tomoe bring the highly complex emotional baggage, the level of maturity & patience, layers of complications, the sad and sorrow potrayal to the audience. She tame a monster while kouru accept tamed animal, the challege is totally different. Would kouru accept kenshin when he is a monster? Can kouru deal with a guilt living with the monster that comes out every night gone on killing spree? does kouru have the patience? The answer is no because she lack of the motivation and maturity that tomoe possessed. To me the character that make the audience cry is the character that hold the most power in the show, she hold the emotional baggage, connection with us the audiece and she is the motivation of the protagonist. Thats why tomoe is match for kenshin, she is his equal in emotion and intellectual sense kind of way, her ablity to withstand all those and to insert question in his belief that made her excel above kouru, a generic replacement like madeleine to vesper in bond . Tragic love, lover and hero is always the best in any love story, it connected the character to the audience. Thats why Shakespeare's romeo and juliet are the classic and titanic is a hit. Thats what made darth vader very appealing are the tragedy that befalled him. Happy ending is for kids or someone that cant deal with intense emotional play, for me the deeper the cut in the story the more intresting it is. The concept of pain and tragedy is beautiful dark art in storytelling. I must say this, its a japanese version of casino royale, welldone
I agree with you. I watched it last night for the first time and I was taken aback by the complexity of the story. I've never liked the "happily ever after" endings; They just lack and sugarcoat the complexity of the nature of a man like Kenshin. He's wounded, complex, harsh and hardened by his actions but we also see his more human side, his softness and that's what captivates the audience. This is one of the best Love story I've seen. The witcher is also a complex yet deeply emotional love story. Anyhow I thought I'd share this with you♡ Saludos from Panamá 💚💙
Sadly Kaoru has way larger fan base. I have always thought that Rurouni Kenshin is a shounen story, except for Tsuiokuhen (Tomoe's story), which is historical drama with a splash of action.
How can you say that Kaoru lacks motivation when Tomoe's motivation was to have Kenshin killed for killing her lover? In the end, Tomoe's plan backfired because she had a change of heart. Let's stop painting Tomoe out to be this floating angel who happened to drop by Kenshin's life with kittens and butterflies 🦋 I appreciate Tomoe's sacrifice and she will never be forgotten, but it was Kaoru's motivation that gave Kenshin a new kind of life, home, happiness, friends he could rely on, and a fulfilling life. That beats growing radishes, and sitting in a dead quiet house ready for betrayal
A letter to Tomoe from Kenshin ⚰️: Hello ! Tomoe . Glad to see you again. I'm sure you're in a better place with your fiance, the love of your life. Every day I think about those moments that we cherish together, I kind of think being grateful and guilty at the same time. Yeah grateful for giving a life of happiness and peace that I wished for even it is for few days and guilty for destroying your home of happiness and leaving your brother all alone while grieving your death. I wished that I could change that time around. Maybe I should've have taken him with me. In that way, he would forgive me and he wouldn't have to take this path today. I respect his love towards yours. He seemed to be a good man who would do anything for his sister even if it means avenging her death against the man who loved him and forever indebted to her for giving him a second chance to redeem himself and lead a normal life. All the years while wandering and carrying all these thoughts , I blamed myself and didn't feel like deserve to live. But no, God has planned another destiny for me. I fell in love once again and wanted to be drifted apart from those who are trying to be close towards me. Because I have to protect them. My second love gave me that chance even though I didn't ask for it. She's kind, sweet and brave and believes in the brighter side of ☮️ and combat to protect someone. Every time we drifted away , it only got us closer. I never deserved her during my worst times and her better days. I just brought more trouble for her. But she stayed with my side. And here I am talking to you in my thoughts. I didn't do anything something proud in my life but I know you are watching me happily that I am not alone anymore. I know you are waiting for me in the clouds. So don't worry , I'll soon catch up to you someday but not yet. I haven't probably introduce myself to your fiance . Just tell him to wait for me and we can have a friendly duel someday as I didn't beat him fair and square. I know deep down he has a grudge for taking away his love. I'll join both of you sooner. And don't worry about your brother. I'll meet him every day to ask him about his well-being. Goodbye, my first love 💗 and thank you for giving me a new life.

The Beginning is by far the best of the Rurouni Kenshin five live action films. Action, drama, romance. Good cast, brilliant script, fine directing and acting. This scene where Himura Kenshin read his wife's final entries in her diary is very poignant. Viewers will shed tears for sure. Kudos/bouquets to Takeru Satoh and Kasumi Arimura for very fine portrayals of their characters caught in tragic circumstances. Both deserving of best acting awards if the movie is nominated in Japan's film academy major awards. Fans of this series will appreciate The Beginning. Rurouni Kenshin The Legend Ends in my opinion was the second best in the series.

Tomoe was without a doubt the most influential person in Kenshin's life; she gave him purpose, plus I don't know what Kenshin would have done after helping to overthrow the Shogunate.
Kenshin would probably still stop killing. Tomoe was just partially the reason why he stopped killing. As Katsura says, even though he killed many, Kenshin still had a pure heart. So no doubt Kenshin would have lived a simple life like his parents or still helped people like he did after. He would have abandoned the name and gone with his real name, Shinta.
I was read the manga in 2003 and I watched the action movie in the end 2021. I always repeat watch until now, I think their love story, Tomoe x Kenshin equal tragic with love story in Titanic.

I feel bad for Tomoe that she couldn’t have her “mochi & eat it too” I would’ve been happy having a nice strong swordsman like Kenshin as my man despite him being a killer.
He was a soldier essentially, he was an assassin but his targets were combatants and leaders at war with his faction. He was only haunted by the fact that many of his victims were essentially people who were simply caught up by the warring sides. But he was never a murderer or a psycho like Shishio Makoto.
Tomoe had her second chance at love with Kenshin, Kenshin had his second chance at love with Kaoru But I believe that a part of Kenshin's heart will forever belong to Tomoe
his vow of non-kill was not only for her. it was also for Akira and the many other lives he took. he already made up his mind to stop killing and atone for all the lives he took, even before her accidental death. it would appear like he had no remorse for the other lives he took. and just as Tomoe will always have a special place in Kenshin’s heart, Akira too, will always have a special place in Tomoe’s heart. But Kenshin has long turned that chapter in his life and moved on. And a large part of not being able to forget her is guilt rather than love. Meanwhile, his relationship with Kaoru was built with trust and acceptance, no hidden agendas, strengthened by their battles together. Kenshin was willing to throw away years of non-kill vow to protect her as early as the Jinei incident. in the original story, he lost all meaning of life when enishi faked her death. Even said he’d go against tomoe to protect Kaoru. Of course, LA-only fans will never know this.
kaoru symbolizes all of kenshin’s ideals and everything he fought for. she is the new era to kenshin metaphorically. she is the embodiment of his peace. more importantly, she became the sword that he wielded (the sword that protects). and even though he was so happy, he felt guilty because he felt unworthy of such happiness because of his sins. needless to say, kenshin’s character development happened because of Kaoru and his friends. Tomoe saved him but at the same time, scarred him with guilt that made him lose his self- worth. Kaoru pieced him back together.

Idk about you guys, but at least in the movies; Tomoe and Kenshin have way better chemistry than Kenshin had with Kaoru, in my opinion.
I have the same thought. Kenshin X Tomoe have more chemistry than Kenshin X Kaoru in the live action.
Yes sir!
Kenshin and Tomoe love best
because the beginning evolves on the love story of kenshin and tomoe, while the other 3 movies focuses mostly on action.
brooooo
Firdaus Amer sorry but this is a pretty BS take and clearly no idea about the source material it was based on
Sadly Kaoru has way larger fan base.
@@tobiasfreedom1450 lol in the manga and anime series Kaoru hate battousai, buddy, while Tomoe still can love him as battousai.
Love the background music! I wish they would upload on youtube.
If anyone here hasn’t watched the original of this “trust and betrayal” please do. Hands down one of the best pieces in all anime. Masterpiece
I loved this movie; the actors did a really great job. It's as emotional as the OVA, but the OVA always broke me 🥺
Tomoe arimura loves kenshin satoh. Perfect couple. More movies together ❤
The anime broke my heart. And I know for sure that this too 😭
I'm glad Tomoe was fated to meet Kenshin and finally fell in love with him. That's how he changed for better.
Sad 😢 but good story, the best of all of them
Never judge a book by its cover, kenshin being the book in this analogy
I will preserve him though it means my life 😭😭😭😭
30 years old still crying over their love story
I’m not going to say I cried but it was raining inside my house when I watched this scene.
A letter to Tomoe from Kenshin ⚰️:
Hello !
I woke up at 5 AM to watch this movie on Netflix the day it premiered lol (saying up till midnight wasn't an option due to work). Worth it!
Tomoe loves kenshin. Please make more movies together
She is so beautiful.
Very
what a heartbreaking scene
Meaning of unconditional love😢😢😢😢😢
😢😢. It absolutely broke my heart to see him so devastated by Tomoe's death 💔 😢 😔 😞. I cried so much. But, it was because of her love that he was able to get his heart back. ❤❤😢
Bro when I saw this part I was like in tears it’s so sad 😭
😭😭😭
Men! what a heartbreaking moment 😭
Never thought kenshin has wife before. Aww heart breaking 💔
You should watch Rurouni kenshin OVA that's where the movie is based on!
Will watch, thank you.
For full detail story, please read the manga. It's complex full of politics..
@@fabianofallen and better too
the manga is the true masterpiece. not the animation, ova, and movies which are all derivative works.
Such a heartbreaking story for both of them...
TB has the lowest box office performance in all RK installments. It’s the least liked.
@@QQ-eu6gj literally bc the weekend the final came out another quarantine was mandated in japan resulting diminished box office returns for the next 2 months - it's far and away the best
Netflix you're the worst this is the 2nd time I've seen this scene but it still breaks my heart 💔
I wanna smile when reading ur comment....but that's the true
Luckily, Netflix had nothing to do with the Kenshin movies production.
Please praise the original producers, director and staff instead.
I cried watching the scene Kenshin try to eat rice to live beside the Tomoe's dead body. Kenshin and Tomoe found true love each other, sadly it was too short.
My favorite actress Kasumi Arimura!
Kenshin - Tomoe > Kenshin - Kaoru
clearly an LA-only fan lol.
absolutly agree. but becarefull of kaoru fanboy here, bud. 🤣
Que atuação maravilhosa, esse filme eh um presente aos admiradores da obra.
Bro I cried like a baby :(
awesome movie, the best SAMURAI MOVIE. I saw the anime but this one is way better than anime. love it
cant stop crying 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
This was such tragic love story, but yet, it's was wonderfully beautiful..
Getting Married in Real Life
What a Shipment
so heartbreaking.
I've just felt the pain from my first breakup. damn it!!!!
Used to hate this arc in manga...after watch the begining movies...I fall in love with this arc....love the actress too, she did her best to became the cold Tomoe's...yes, Tomoe never smile in manga.....i look the way the mangaka draw her...she's way too cold....(sorry about my grammar)
Same here...I didn't think I'd feel much worse after watching the live action film. I even feel bad reading the manga and watching the OVA. But it was a perfect adaptation. Kasumi Arimura did well as Tomoe too even though she smiles sometimes as Tomoe but its ok, I love her smile though. 😊
In the manga, Tomoe smile though it's rare.
Diantara film Rurouni Kenshin ini adalah salah satu film paling nyesek.
He would have abandoned the name and gone with his real name, Shinta.
the best action love story ever. I watch the ova many years ago.. wow ...
I was read the manga in 2003 and I watched the action movie in the end 2021. I always repeat watch until now, I think their love story, Tomoe x Kenshin equal tragic with love story in Titanic.
i just started watching Rorouni kenshin anime..i was totally invested in kenshin and kaoru..when i found out that kenshin's first love was someone else..i was hesitant to watch s2..but after seeing this clip i realised that tomoe's second love was kenshin and kenshin's second love was kaoru..well.....
超愛劍心跟巴的故事,感謝這部電影重現了這段。
STAY Kenshin ❤ Kouru My Heart💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
First love never dies indeed...
I personally think that Tomoe is a better woman than Kaori
Ironically tomoe's first love was someone else.

Tomoe and Kensin is best couple. No need any more !
I really love the character of kogoro katsura..❤❤❤
Kaoru & Kenshin is happy-funny love yet Tomoe & Kenshin is romantic heavy love❤
The '1st' is always in his heart n finally he let her go in the legend end movie.
I'm glad Kenshin met her n now Kaoru in his life 🤗
Çok güzel şahane bir drama 💕bütün seriyi seyretti doyamadım.💕💕💕Başta Takeru Satoh olmak üzere bütün oyuncuları kutluyorum, emeği geçen herkese teşekkürler 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞😻😻😻😻💕💕💕💕
The beginning is the best sequel Rurouni kenshin....
You mean prequel
I'm still inlove with kenshin and kaoru though😭
Kasumi’s character in “Dou Suru Ieyasu” is like another side of the same coin to Tomoe. So many parallels and contrast to each other.
if you like the film, you like also the ova. Rurouni Kenshin: Trust & Betrayal
It is a very sad scene!
*Sound of Snow Falling* - Taku Iwasaki 😢
I feel bad for Tomoe that she couldn’t have her “mochi & eat it too” I would’ve been happy having a nice strong swordsman like Kenshin as my man despite him being a killer.
He was a soldier essentially, he was an assassin but his targets were combatants and leaders at war with his faction.
He was only haunted by the fact that many of his victims were essentially people who were simply caught up by the warring sides.
But he was never a murderer or a psycho like Shishio Makoto.
Katlyn Webb Tomoe literally was the reason Kenshin was in danger.
Tomoe had her second chance at love with Kenshin,
Kenshin had his second chance at love with Kaoru
But I believe that a part of Kenshin's heart will forever belong to Tomoe
The Sakabato. He promised her he' find ways to defend and not kill.
his vow of non-kill was not only for her. it was also for Akira and the many other lives he took. he already made up his mind to stop killing and atone for all the lives he took, even before her accidental death. it would appear like he had no remorse for the other lives he took. and just as Tomoe will always have a special place in Kenshin’s heart, Akira too, will always have a special place in Tomoe’s heart.
@chukybaby You couldn't be MORE WRONG.

The only people who don't think this is good is people overly loyal to the anime.
You guys have to read the manga. There are so many parts that the anime and movie left out. They pretty much was husband and wife in the sheets.
Tomoe messed up Kenshin really bad when Kenshin killed her later.
Jika saja di film itu sdg tdk terjadi di era perang maka Kenshin dan tomoe akan hidup bahagia sbg suami istri yg normal dan memiliki buah hati
That makes it a good drama.
Anime and live action a bit different but its extremely good both of them.
how did the old man last fight with kenshi die actually? it’s because of kenshin sword slash and happen to him or tomoe did something? can someone explain it?
I wonder why the directors and musicians didn't take visual material from The Brginning to create Broken heart of gold mv versions. Those lately Broken heart of gold mv versions haven't satisfied me. It seemed not relate to The Beginning, lol.
Sad ending :-(
I don't know why but when I completed all Rurouni Kenshin movies, I felt love story between Kenshin and Tomoe more deep than Kenshin with Kaoru. It felt like Kenshin can't ever replace his true love with Tomoe. I just too hard feeling with The Beginning maybe 🤣🤔... Owh and there's 1 thing that makes me thinking is Tomoe true love Kenshin cause the words that Megumi said maybe Tomoe just want Kenshin killed her... I forgot the exact words but something like this.
What is the music? Can't find it anywhere on the soundtrack!
The track they used for this scene was from the Kyoto Inferno soundtrack - Sakabatou Shinuchi / 逆刃刀真打
@@sengyew83 much Appreciated thank you
I still couldnt believe they didnt make Kenshin vs Saito in this movie 😢
Also why Saito didnt use full armor Shinsengumi uniform? He didnt wear any chest armor, even the headband, when all other Shinsengumi members wore one..
Looks too good to be true
