I grew up watching the series from 1996 over and over, and still one of my personal and our family's favorites. When I finally read the manga, there were some parts that didn't appear in the series but felt okay. Now that I am watching the remake, I need to forget the original series so I can enjoy this version without being biased. The remake is definitely following the manga religiously and I can't complain about it. The 1996 series has its own charms - the drama, the tone, the (legendary) OST especially the Kyoto Arc - and it is still, for me, one of the best anime of the 90's. The remake has its own path, and I am enjoying it, like I enjoyed the OG series. I just love Kenshin's new seiyuu (and I hope Souma can provide a song for the series just like what Suzukaze Mayo did) and the parts that were added from the manga.
You're good, I can't forget the original, it's definitely better to me. Some of the upgrades are good but they've definitely modernized it just a bit too much for me. I wish they could have kept the original voice actors as well.
I honestly think this should have been a continuation instead of a remake. The original has such a classic feeling to the episodes. This feels like synthetic or cheaper in some ways because of animation quality.

This is more Ruroken than OG. Thank you for all the hardwork remaking our favorite! ❤ Continue until Jinchu Arc please 🙏

You guys really should have picked a better studio.
We need English dub
Is it English dub? Nvm
Should’ve picked the trust and betrayal art style.
Sub indo.....
I prefer the original... this just feels...generic.
Cartoons more better than the movie.
