It’s wild how expensive trucks have become…. I absolutely love the way this truck looks but 80k+ by the time you get it home is insane. Never mind what the dealerships will want for this particular model🤦🏻♂️
Also factor in how they allow longer and longer finance options so people can afford the payments. This allows them to make tons of profit per vehicle because people only worry about how much they can afford every month.
@@PVo-1111 BINGO. The last time I bought a new vehicle the folks at the dealership kept asking me what I wanted to pay per month. They kept on badgering me about "affordable monthly payments". When I finally agreed on an acceptable payment schedule I told them "Great. Now lower the price of the vehicle by a minimum of $5000 and we have a deal". They didn't like that so much...
@@svenstenberg2124 did they end up selling the vehicle at price you wanted tho?
@@kenyaswallow5782 Nope! They kept insisting that the payments were a really great deal. It's all about the payments! I walked out of there and bought used instead. To hell with those vultures.
It’s called inflation dude
Single, six figure job, no debt and I can’t justify buying the lowest trim sr5 due to the price. I thought these new platforms would make them cheaper? Should be able to buy a brand new Landcruiser for those prices.
Brand new Landcruiser starts at 90K in the form of the 2022 Lexus LX600.
That is because you're good with your money man. Most aren't and they will finance this into a $1100 monthly payment.
A single man doesn’t need a sequoia. This is a for a family of 5+
Buy a Prius.
Same here besides the six figure job part. I just put a brand new Jasper engine in my 2005 Ford Ranger with 200,000 miles on it. Timing chain guide failure in the old engine. My truck might be old but it still looks brand new and it’s paid for. With the price of trucks these days I just couldn’t see buying a new one.
Indeed
i like the looks of it... the rear end looks cool.. and finally a locking rear on the sequioa is a game changer...
The front end of the Sequoia looks so much better than the 22 Tundra. Thanks for the video.

Toyota's choice?
Not that I'd drop $70-80k on any vehicle today, but it's cool that Sequoia has a much shorter wheelbase than the Tundra Crew short-bed. I bet it would be badass with a lift and 34/35s.
I bet it would get 9-10 mpg on 35's hahahaha
I was coming here to say the same. Interested to see the after market that develops for this thing.
yeah a 7,000lb whale with 34’s, 35’s and soccer ball sensors would be cool …
37s please
Just read that Toyota has a 2.6" lift available with Bilstein shocks and Roush UCAs. $4k tho. Oh, and this is for the '22 Tundra which has same underpinnings as Sequoia, right?
My family has been waiting forever to replace our 03. We absolutely hated the 2nd gen. 20 years on the road and never a single repair needed. Badass suv
Don't forget the monthly fees for features you thought you already paid for.
what fees are those?
@@Clones2011 remote start
I saw the exact color of the TRD pro at the dealership. It looks so much better in person than on this video. The vehicle is just beautiful. Only if I could afford it for my wife😊
This is by far the best looking trim of the New Sequoia, the exterior and the interior! However, this is clearly not a good choice for off roading. It rides low to the ground, the running boards make it even worse. Worse of all the front angle approach appears extremely low . Those who want this or nothing will probably have to pay greedy dealers 10+K over msrp If you ever try off roading then it would make sense to try the same roads in the new Grand Cherokee. Hopefully the comparisons of the two are coming to RUclips

Strongly Agreed
Truth. ..the question is what is this TRDP version for then? ..because it isn’t more than farm/fire road dirt ready.
Toyota hit it out of the park with this. My sole gripe is instruments. I love how versatile they are, but I am still a sucker for Analog gauges.
Me too. Although, I see a lot of automotive journalists complain when a new car doesn't have a digital dash.
No that pos minivan truck got hit with multiple ugly sticks, no gearing options, no tow hooks, no auto 4wd, car pretending to be a truck built for women and men with manbuns
@@atlasstjames5904 I love how people say shit like that, but put your money where your mouth is. If it had all that, would you take it offroad, scratch it, ding it crumple it after paying $80,000 dollars?
Hell, if you paid $40,000.
I sure as hell wouldnt.
My biggest mistake was buying a new truck, lifting and putting tires on it. I hate taking it in to the camp cause I might scratch the the stupid thing.
The best thing offroad is a side by side or an old truck with skid plates, good tires a locking rear diff. An absolute must is rust with a few dents then you really dont give a shit about anything and you get to where you are going.

Im a car hauler so I hope to see these in the toyota port soon. Slick looking rig
I’m really eager to get behind the wheel of this. While the price is a little eye watering, I think the capability (especially with a few mods) could be incredible. I have to admit, though, that the interior space does give me a little hesitation when compared to the competition. Great video!
Huge Toyota fan here. Love to buy this and others but i don't see myself purchasing this brand because of the crazy msrp pricing let alone stealership price gouging. Its time to just drive whatever you have until the wheels fall off. Its my plan anyway.
Yep. I want the new sequoia, but I don’t want to pay that. Leaning on opting put
It's hard to debate prices w/ Toyotas because you know this is a 10+ year vehicle. The car will pay for itself in the long wrong. Just a beautiful truck
Why would you actually take a vehicle that costs that much into mud holes. That's what atv's are for. Let's be honest only reviewers do this.
It is marketing. The image of a go anywhere vehicle.
My Bronco has been sitting on dirt mountain since January, and this truck has me seriously reconsidering that purchase. I'm not a super serious off roader. I want to go camping and haul my bicycles around while I do it, and this looks super perfect. I did like the idea of taking my top down, but, I also know that only happens during fall and spring here in Houston.
What a sweet SUV. I have no need for anything that big, but if I did, I’d stop looking now.
For that price I'd get a Silverado ZR2 and have 10k left over. 77k for a Sequoia is absurd. Especially considering all the high-end trucks that now compete in that price.
You get what you pay for. The Silverado will be a piece of shit in a couple years
@@flight2k5 still far better than the Sequoia in so many ways. If all you want in a car is to last forever and don't care about how good of a car it is then get a Civic. Just lasting forever doesn't justify a ridiculous price way over what the vehicle actually offers today.

Love the new look and I am a huge fan of all TRD Pro, but please make a video of a real course. I went through deeper water in my old 2009 2WD Pathfinder during Hurricane Harvey. For those that have lived in Houston you know what I am talking about. Those damn off ramps get flooded. Not uncommon to see 2-5 feet of standing or running water on the highway off ramps during and after heavy rainfalls. I miss it. No such drama in Port Saint Lucie.
People arent understanding the seqoia is taking over the Land Cruiser space in the US as a mid luxury vehicle before you move up to Lexus. Thats why the price increased so much.
What a great review. You guys are so unbiased.
Lol. Like money. It’s very unbiased too.
Could we get a comparison between the Sequoia and Land Cruiser? Of course it wouldn't be side by side, but i am curious of what Toyota top off-roader SUV in USA market Versus the rest of the world. I never liked the sequoia but this new ones looks very nice!
The Sequoia is vastly inferior to the Land Cruiser. Can’t believe Toyota killed the LC in the US for a way watered down and dumbed down version for Americans.
Given that almost nobody purchased a Land Cruiser in the United States, not sure what you would expect.
Not only that, this Sequoia is vastly inferior to the old Sequoia, less interior cargo space, does it still have a full sized spare? And, that stupid ‘shelf’…
100% agree. I think even a GX 460 would be a better option than this.
Love the styling but I will buy nothing with turbos and also a hybrid. Offer us N/A v8 or V6, straight six.....anything but forcing that complicated maintenance headache waiting to happen on us.
So, how does this compare to the new 300 series Land cruiser when it comes down to drive train components, suspension components, steering components? I feel like this will be the new overlanding rig in the next few years if you want something bigger than a 4Runner but only after you remove the side steps and do some bumper trimming to get better approach
Thanks for the thorough review. One RUclipsr mentioned hesitation or chatter “Chadder” when the car switched from electric motor to gasoline engine? What are your thoughts? Was that hybrid to gasoline transition felt when you drove it or was it smooth?

I like the way this truck looks and it appears that it's very capable but why does the front end look noticeably squatted compared to the rear?
Because that is how almost all toyota trucks come from factory. The idea is it becomes level once you load the back with passengers and cargo.
Andre has serious experience with water coming up to the bottom door sill and above. I recall a video of several years ago in which he (in a Hummer ? on a supervised course) started flooding with water. Poor guy!
That approach angle is very bad. Especially for an off road oriented vehicle. Stock 4Runner is 33º approach.
Also sucks that they got rid of the roll down rear window.
For a second I looked at the thumbnail and thought someone slammed a new sequoia😂
The sound of the engine sounds pretty aggressive I like that
maybe you can do a front end swap with the panels?
Land Cruiser., Land Cruiser., Land Cruiser.. 80 grand buys you are used Land Cruiser. There is no comparison as everyone who is watching this video knows. The Sequoia looks nice yes but if you’re spending that kind of money add 10 grand and buy a Land Cruiser 200 series. It’s the most iconic legendary reliable SUV in the world. It will always retain value as they canceled it for the USA. I am sure more people will realize this when they go to do a wire transfer at the dealership Wonderful video now thanks for showcasing this new truck
The price shouldn’t reflect how good the car is, as every single car is over priced right now
here in sfl the toyota dealers dont even have 2021s because the shortaes and you are talking about 2023..people are paying 500 dollars to get cars in the next 8 months..when we gonna have the 2023s in the dealers??in 2025???
Nope. America needs to take a stand on these ridiculous prices for vehicles! Like that’s is a lot of money. I can’t even imagine the monthly payment.
But the crazy thing is “people are buying them” nothing against them. If you got it then that’s on you and happy for you. But let’s be real the prices are outrageous.
How does the Average Joe even have a chance to afford a nice new car ?!? maybe I’m venting ..ok I digress
No tow hooks and no rear sliding down rear window anymore that's unfortunate
Abysmal.
On my 4th Land Cruiser (2 100 series and 2 200 series). Watching this video I'm struck by how limited the suspension articulation is compared with a LC.
I use mine extensively in Baja and, although I'd like new tech and 50% better fuel economy, I can't see changing to one of these until mine reaches 200,000 miles.

Those off road specs for a TRD pro is a let down. The interior/exterior look nice, but other than a rear locker, this is an appearance package. Grand Cherokee is a much better luxurious off roader
GMC Yukon AT4X will lead this segment. Believe me.
That jeep is a pile of junk!!!!!!
Toyota trucks have much better reliability and depreciation. At least until they don’t. If you have to pay MSRP, the Toyota will be the much better deal. Until The recent upheavals, GMC and Jeep would offer huge discounts off the MSRP to compete.
@@nunyabidness3075 You’re simply out of your mind if you think a Sequoia is going to be more reliable than the YuKon with all the issues they’ve been having with the new Tundra. Not to me.
It'll COST but not be worth.
If they made the Sequoia a Two Row and a tad bit shorter, would be awesome. In other words, a 4Runner with this frame architecture and V6 TT Hybrid. Maybe the new Tacoma means a new 4Runner or FJ in the future.
