Who was in the wrong in these situations?

    • @c-w-h
      @c-w-h Месяц назад +2

I would say that it is possible for that crack to appear. Some of the roads are trash. There is a section on I-75 near macon. That could actually do this to a trailer. It was bad enough that it threw a giant forklift off the back of a flat bed turf trailer. Which was locked into fhe trailer! They since tried to level out the asphault. Its still shit though.

      1. The first situation could've happened due to a blown tire, overloading, or even the HORRID potholes the state DOTs tend to be leaving us. While it can be caught on a Pre-trip, sometimes sudden failures of trailers will happen. Can't blame the driver for that without an investigation.
      2. Dogs should ALWAYS be treated as people, and respected. Food and water is a must, making the dog sniff pee and poo is a punishment for some of them. A dog should NEVER be forced to drink pee or eat poo, and that's squarely on the driver.
I have no comment on the third situation, to each his own.

I called another truck company on a driver that tried to force my fuel tanker off the road. He passed me on a blind uphill curve and I was loaded with 8300 gallons of gasoline. I had to get on the brakes hard to allow him over to avoid an oncoming car. I didn't catch his tractor number, but was easily able to get the trailer number. Dangerous idiots like that don't belong on the road, let alone behind the wheel of a tractor trailer.

Drivers arrive hour prior to loading or unloading and park on streets next to the company to be first in line. Drivers make plans.

As far as the trailer with the coil. It wasn't equiped with a coil pack. That means the cross members have to every 6 inches apart rather than 12 in a six foot span unless its a fontain trailer. They're built better for these loads.

Aluminum frame trailers are prone to cracks as well as steel frames age has a factor in cracks and position of coil either eye to side like in pictures or the other way depending on receiver which way they want it facing upon delivery

  • @RichCadwalader

First video the Samaritan should have talked to the driver. That is definitely something that could have occurred after he did his pre-trip and was on the road. Second video the person should have called Animal Control, and then the company. If someone is already going that far to do that to a dog or any animal, they are not going to listen to a person and there is clearly something mentally wrong. Third video I agree with you, Alex. They’re just needs to be more parking, unless that truck is sitting there for more than one day or two leave them alone they are serving the community and need to rest. If they are blocking your driveway, knock on the door and ask them to please move. Most drivers will say OK no problem and either find another spot or circle the block or something. Thanks for everything you do,Alex !

Hopefully no one was hurt! At least if something happened and anyone asked you could point to the clean inspection
But it really isnt too surprising. A lot of people dont realise that no one alive can give a perfect inspection and find all the possible mechanical faults on a truck. Neither trucker or dot officer for that matter. You can only do your best, find and fix the stuff you can, and drive alert so you can safely deal with issues as they arise.
Also, a lot can happen in 300 miles, even if everything looked fine and dandy at the inspection something may have come loose.

It looked like the coil was sitting on one side of the trailer instead of in the middle that could have caused the frame to crack. Not sure from the picture but it looked like a fresh crack. Or the load could have shifted. Parking anywhere in NY is hard to find. Very few truckstops, and rest areas are off limits after 7pm. At least the last time I was there, that's the way it was. If, in every circumstance that someone was fired this way, the rest of the drivers stopped their trucks and threw the keys far, far away and walked, this would end by tomorrow. There would be few incidences and then things would change fast. Corporations have their own private websites where things get out and around fast. Use that to your advantage.

I thought I wanted to have a dog with me while trucking. Not anymore. I know some people that have animals on the truck with them are responsible pet owners, but “some” is not “all”. And having a dog on a truck is a whole different level of responsibility to that animal that “some” seem to be incapable of.

Parking in an industrial area is one thing. I even got a $120 parking ticket when I was 60 feet from my drop. (In an industrial area, in California) But parking in a residential area is pain stupid. If a truck wanted to park in front of my house. I would call the police and tow truck. In my opinion, if you have to park in a residential area because you ran out hours... You didn't plan very well.

I have been saying for years that the horrible condition of our Interstate system is breaking our trucks. The crack on that trailer may not have even existed when the driver did his pretrip. One of the stupid launching ramp bridge approaches on an Interstate would do that to a loaded trailer with the weight concentrated on a small area like we see in this particular trailer. How many people have to die out here before the government begins to fix the problem?

As a retired veterinary technician, ( my husband drives and I travel with him 24-7) I do believe that dogs can have a fabulous life on the road but need a lot a attention. A dog needs good food, filtered water, lots of time out of the truck exercising and of course affection. I must say that sometimes if a dog is dehydrated owners will give a dog Gatorade/ Pedialyte to a dog. Dogs won't drink urine as a rule unless highly stressed. Animal cruelty is rampant in this world, but how was this person sure it was urine? Walking in "his own feces " not many dogs will do that either, but will walk (accidently ) through others. I'm just not sure there is enough proof to condem this driver, however; absolutely, 1000% he should receive a surprise inspection of his truck ( if he's a company driver) as to the welfare of the dog. As far as calling the police? Animal cruelty laws are minimal unless someone is actively torturing an animal which still doesn't get the attention it should. If this driver actually did these things and it was proven, or the dog is not being treated humanely, fire him. Animal cruelty is a scourge in our country!

Working front to back, the cracked frame on the trailer could've been caught. See the discolored metal below and shiny up top? It was in a constant state of cracking due to weight and miles. Second story, I would've called the police after I dealt with the driver directly. You don't treat an animal that way. Third, is a no brainer. NY needs to help drivers, rather than condem them. More parking is definitely needed.

Where is the juice you know and then you got these truck drivers I’m a truck driver myself and it’s very difficult to find a parking spot in a truckstop. You’re alone on a street corner but in the city like New Yorkin these guys government regulations that stop working after 14 hours stop after 11 hours what do you expect us to park after we just got done delivering your food and then you gonna call up on the truck drivers
