  • Excuses are what separate successful people from those who can't seem to make it. I want to help you see that excuses are total losers that waste our time and keep us from achieving more in our lives. In this video, we get to the bottom of them and kick them to the curb. The amazing life you CAN have is kept just out of reach when excuses prevail. Here's how I overcome the urge to make excuses and push past the garbage to attain what I really want. I hope you do the same with these concepts.
    WATCH THE FIRST VIDEO HERE: • How to Stop Procrastin...

    :) And now... a few obligatory quotes:
    "A comfort zone is a beautiful place, but not much grows there." -unknown
    "Push yourself because no one else is going to do it for you." -unknown
    "Don't downgrade your dream just to fit your reality. Upgrade your conviction to match your destiny." 🙂 💕

    My excuse, I have small children! It’s not really an excuse, but an obstacle. I have a 9 year old, 3 year old and a 3 month old that I stay home with. I find it impossible to go back to work or school.

    • @melissamaker
      @melissamaker  5 лет назад

      It is hard to get much done with little ones around. That said, if you are ever able to get the small ones in a program or find a way to have someone watch them for a bit, etc. you can start to make time for what you want. Start small, build. Once they are old enough you'll have made a good amount of small steps toward what you want. Good luck with it!!!

  • @squalloogal

    I can’t agree with everything you said. Not for myself but for others. It’s like blaming the poor for not succeeding. When the structure of our society is targeted against certain demographics.
    When people are working 3 to 4 jobs plus raising a family just to eat and keep a roof over their heads. Walking everywhere because they can’t afford transport. When they barely have time to eat and sleep everyday.
    I just find that sometimes those excuses aren’t really excuses at all. There’s a reason poverty can be generational. There’s reasons why such a tiny percentage of people living in some locations don’t find it plausible to succeed the way they would like to.
    As a society we need to make a way for people. To balance the playing field. To support one another in our families, neighbourhood, communities and nations.
    Just my 2 cents.

    • @melissamaker
      @melissamaker  5 лет назад +1

      Fair enough - I do agree that there are certain parts of the population that have circumstances that are outside of their control. That said, now and again you do hear stories about people who come from those situations and have risen above. Those truly are the people who believed they could do anything...and they did!

    • @aliblue3605
      @aliblue3605 5 лет назад +1

      squalloogal Agree, I would like to succeed more too. My hubby and I can’t find a good paying job, but no one wants to hire etc. Some people can’t Succeed at what they want to, like most people in poverty.

    • @squalloogal
      @squalloogal 5 лет назад +3

      Ali apartmentgirl360 I hear you. We often point to the one or two people who manage to navigate the maze and succeed. But then we, as a society, judge those who haven’t made it yet. We victim blame rather than trying to solve the issues for one another.
      None of us succeed when others in our community suffer. We judge the person who has to over come 3 hurdles in life the same way we judge somebody who has to overcome 1000. We stop working together to find solutions for everybody and just focus on ourselves.
      Why have so few got access to all the wealth and all the power and every resource?
      Why can some access great education and medical care easily?
      Why can one person afford a home working only one job, working 8hrs, 5 days a week, and another has to work 18hrs just to stay alive.
      We hear the news and forget there are people attached to the stories. We become numb to the number of deaths happening in our streets, our schools, when it’s not touching those close to us.
      We’ve been fed fear and lies so that we are divided from one another. “Oh, they must be lazy because they struggle to feed their kids.” “ I don’t see a reason they aren’t doing well because others from that (insert group of people here) community have become super successful.”
      And if we are lucky enough to succeed, many of us don’t look back or around us. Why can’t we help others up? Why can’t we share our resources? Why can’t we protect one another and succeed together?
      It’s really frustrating to me to see so many struggling so hard through no fault of their own.
      I just want to say that I hear you, I see you, you’re not a failure and you’re not alone in your struggle. No judgement here.
      Wishing you all the best and for the rest of us to wake up and take care of each other.

      @@squalloogal My daughter was told education was the way to wealth. Now she is 80,000.00 in debt and trying to pay it off with a 15.00 an hr job. Have our millenials been lied to about the opportunities an education can provide? oh, and a lot of "less fortunate " of society can get that same education for free.

    • @squalloogal
      @squalloogal 5 лет назад

      Linda Bridgwater the education system is a mess. Why was college once free and now most students in need (middle class and below) have to pay thousands with interest? Even those who worked for the government with the promise of forgiveness of that debt, got ripped off.
      TBH, for the US, I liked Bernie Sanders plan regarding debt, healthcare etc... Would solve many problems for our youth, our ageing and our workforce.

    * Everyone's circumstances are different. For some, the challenges exceed what anyone should endure. For example, not having family or anyone to help, and, having serious health issues on top of that, along w/other major hardships beyond their control... and, they are still working their butt off. In time, it may be possible for them to work into a better situation, but they are not necessarily using excuses.
    *It is not for anyone else to judge. Most people know when they are doing all they can, and, they know when they are making excuses. People glued to a pattern of excuses will probably stay that way, unless something forces them out of it. If they do want help w/life skills, there are appropriate professionals for that.
    *Motivational tools ARE great for all people! :) While these suggestions are common sense for many, it might be helpful for some C.M.S. listeners to hear them from you on occasion - just friendly reminders of positive steps they can take to achieve certain tasks. :)
    * Melissa and Chad, Now that you are parents on top of owning a cleaning company, you may feel ready to add self help tips/life lessons to your videos. However, please be careful about trying to counsel people on anything other than cleaning, organizing and running a small business. In many cases, this should be left to professional counselors and other trained areas of expertise. Thank you! :)

    • @melissamaker

      Thanks for your comment. To clarify, I am not trying to provide professional counselling, I am simply responding to the many, many requests I get about the topic.
