MS Davis is a perfect example of the class, grace and intelligence that is sadly missing, not only in Hollywood, but everywhere these days.
Geena Davis...what a diverse actress. It's interesting how she spoke so lightly of the whole massage situation. Based on what she said she obviously was not familiar with him and the fact that he wanted her to lay down to use a massager on her. It's ridiculous what so many actresses had to endure early in their careers. It's no wonder why so many have issues with mental health and substance abuse. We look at movies and television for entertainment, but have no idea what goes on behind the scenes.
I can't stand bullies. Not the first bad story I've heard about Bill Murray by actors he's worked with.
My partner was once the president of the television academy. He was also on the board of the Geffen Playhouse. So, as a consequence, I had to attend frequent events. None of which either Geena Davis, nor Murray attended, for very different reasons. Geena enjoyed her time away from “Hollywood”, while Murray was never invited because no one liked him.
Lucy lu exposed bill Murray and you all said nothing, nothing
Geena is brave to risk poking the bear that is the cult of Bill Murray. I grew up in a household that loved Bill Murray and I will always hold his work close to my heart, but I can't say I'm surprised at this revelation- he always struck me as someone with an ego and insecurities, much like John Lennon, who was a hero to me. Both are incredibly talented and quick-witted, but unfortunately often at the expense of those around them. This behavior should not be excused because of their talent, and it's good to call it out. That does not mean that we have to disown their art or what it means to us.
Bill Murray is a misogynistic jerk IMO. That behavior is ridiculous and embarrassing.
What a well conducted interview. The interviewer asked interesting and simple questions. Gina girl always a pleasure to watch. Such grace, quick witt and beauty.
Geena Davis is Golden! The Fly, Beetlejuice, A league of their own, The Long Kiss goodnight. Her achievements outside the film industry are also amazing 👏 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏼👏🏼
I miss her in films. She has such a streak of incredible work. Amazing and happy that she accomplished such greatness
No one should ever put up with an actor's verbal or physical abuse. No thanks. Been there done that.
Isn't she lovely, still being polite in her description of events, no matter how uncomfortable they were. Rather than being happy for her winning an Oscar, respect her talent, he assumed she must be egotistical likr him and felt the need to humiliate her. Would he have done the same to a man?
Either way, in that moment w/Murray, he is an ass. Either that he made her do something totally unnecessary for the part that put her in an uncomfortable position OR that he just wanted to let her know that he was the boss & he needed to ‘knock her down a peg’. Both make him an ass. And his humor is questionable as he claims instead of owning up to bad behavior.
Im 41 and ive watched everything shes been in. Always loved her work
It’s not just a New England thing to be self effacing and too polite. My Mother, who was brought up in the South once told me, “Oh Honey you can be polite to people even if you hate their guts”. And yes I was told and shown not to be a burden on people. It took a long time to move past that childhood training. 😊
A long time ago, late 80's, a good friend of mine met Bill Murray in New York. He had a vintage SNL portrait that his father had given him that had Jane Curtain, John Belushi, and Dan Akroyds signatures on it. One signature that was missing was Bill's. He thought he finally got Bill's signature when he handed him the photo for an autograph. When he got it back there was no signature, and his heart was broken when he saw that Bill just scribbled over the other autographs on the picture. Seeing how Belushi passed in 82, it was truly a jerk thing to do. Never liked him since I saw my friend burning the picture that was ruined.
Why would Bill Murray feel the need to intimidate people? But it does explain how much he's disliked by some of his peers.
I went to BU with her. She was very quiet and sweet.
I´ve never like Bill Murray... It seems he was real bully to his female coleques... First Lucy Liu, now Geena...
Good for her calling him out. There are manipulative traits. He is a weak man who wanted to exert his authority.
