- This magnificent grove in the Caycuse Valley in Ditidaht territory, filmed by AFA’s TJ Watt in early 2020 and then again in November, is now a sea of giant stumps after logging company Teal Jones clearcut over 33 hectares (more than 33 footballs fields) of highly endangered, productive old-growth forest with approval from the NDP government.
The BC NDP has allowed the destructive clearcutting of endangered old-growth forests to continue under their watch. With less than 3% of big tree ancient forests remaining, they’re disappearing before our eyes.
On the 2020 campaign trail, the NDP promised to overhaul BC’s forest sector & protect old-growth. With the new government now in power, it’s time to hold them to account!
Contact the BC government and demand that they immediately halt logging in the most endangered forests and allocate funding in Budget 2021 for Indigenous protected areas and economic alternatives to old-growth logging.

this is FFFF crazy. why in 2020 is this happening. 2000 year old trees should not be cut down in the planet today. nothing is left of what was here . our children have nothing to see. wake up canada. protect these forests now.

very SAD, EARTH NEEDS THE SACRED OLD GROWTH TREES TO REMAIN FROM THE LOGGING NOW. PROTECTION FOR THE TREES .
This is too much. These gentle giants are sentinels of planet earth and are as valuable as any human being...possibly more so. I watched the slaughter of the true old growth chestnuts and beeches in New England. This can not continue. I am sickened over this exchange of money for living beings.
A very sad disregard for the importance of these giants. I so appreciate your efforts to protect these trees. I will share and ask others to do the same.
Difficult to watch this but it is necessary. Spread it around - this must stop before it’s all gone - and it nearly is already.
There ought to be some limit regarding the diameter or age of a tree to protect it from logging

This breaks my heart. These governments are so concerned about climate change, yet they still allow the swathing destruction of the precious ecosystems that these, one of the Most Amazing and spiritual landscapes to be destroyed all in the name of $. It truly sickens me to see the loss of these majestic living, breathing Trees.
This destruction by the BC NDP is devastating.

This is a crime...and as always, it's all about making money. Such a thing should be punished by other countries. Tough sanctions against Canada. Far too much has already been destroyed forever.
