One of the most underrated Allman Brothers songs ever
Totally agree with you Jeff....and in total respect for the man we just lost, NOBODY could compose like Dickey Betts. I wished they'd played this all through their years. Never a more talented, tighter band ever ! RIP Dickey.
What a great tune…had just gotten off an airplane in Orlando,Florida and had a nice Sony boom box….Stopped at Peaches on the way to the in-Laws..mama and dad’s…got in the pool with the woman of my dreams listened to this album with Crown and ice splash a water….had sat down with Dickey backstage in ‘79(gettin’ backstage was my jam back then…was on stage durin’ the show) but Dickey & me talked for a good 20 minutes…told him I’d seen him and Duane together…in Sept of ‘71… 6 weeks before we lost Duane and how their music had changed my life… he was very “thank you man and so glad you like what we write and sing!!! Signed my hat for me and I left….
I was also a gate agent for Delta and one day this kid walks up and I thought I know this cat…ticket read David Goldflies! I looked up and said “Rook” he looked surprised a said…”You know me?” Told him “I know you’re the bass guitar player for the Allman Brothers and that gets you a 1st. Class seat from here(DAY) to ATLANTA!” We talked a bit he said “Thanks I appreciate this.” Was the least I could do😄
Didn't realize how good this version of the band was
They could be great but only when they felt like it. It was a bad period for
them and they broke up shortly after this. The next time they reformed was
with Warren Haynes and Jaimoe also back in the band. That was not until
1989. At this juncture they were mainly separate musicians playing together,
not really a "band," in the sense the ABB was in the beginning and last 25
years, including when Derek trucks replaced Dickey Betts in 1999. They were
a true band of brothers from then until their final gigs at The Beacon Theater
in 2014. I will say this is pretty powerful, though. Heavy drum solo section.
Fretsu NJ - yes, the band was great! The also had wonderful material to play. With the exception of Lawler on keys of course. That was a huge mistake.
How badass are Dickey Betts and Dan Toler? Damn.
Bad right down to the bone Wes... Kickin some serious ass..
I forget some of these old tunes at times
This drum duo solo just rips!
this Is Allman genius! !what a band!
Dangerous Dan is a beast
This kicks and, love this intrumental
Trucks switches from drums to tympani at the 13:00 mark. The bass joining in at 16 mins reminds me of the way they did the Mountain Jam
I heard this song coming from a Main street restaurant speaker and automatically recognized the AB sound but never heard the song before. Thank goodness for SIRI.
Here's a little trivia - Dan Toler is playing Dickey's refinished goldtop Les Paul that was used for the Fillmore East recordings and many, many other outstanding performances. It currently belongs to a Japanese collector who's also a very talented player. It's not gathering dust. 😊
Dickie was u a 335 Gibson on the Gilmore east album
@@michaelgavin4568 No, he most certainly was not playing a 335.
SG and les paul
AWESOME!!!!!
Love, love, love!!!
Top notch
Great performance of a great song. On a side note I love Butch's shroom necklace 🍄
I was at this one in the banister seats up stairs burning a few
BLAZING!
Iam sorry this is a big memory for me
C A P O L A V O R O !!!!
Toler "Dangerous Dan" on guitar.
Not an Allman Brothers fan?
RIP Butch Trucks! :(
It's no wonder they called Butch Freight Train!
mike lawler I think was his name on keyboards
This is so lit
frankie toler on drums.
I swear I hear two bass players!
Just David Goldflies on bass!!
Phil Eddings he has a very unique thumping melodic style.
I think Jaimoe's replacement on drums was David Toler, brother of Dan, and another transfer from Betts' Great Southern.
Frankie Toler
Who was the 2nd drummer at this time? A former Great Southern drummer? The solo about 6mins in would be worthy of inclusion in that Drummerworld video series. It even demos Trucks on timpani, something I've heard but not seen before.
Frankie Toler
Je ne connaissais que leur nom... j'ai honte! Ce titre et ce clips sont phénoménaux! ;D
Was this the Belushi show?
Who's the second keyboard player?
Who's sitting in for Jaimoe?
Jaimoe was not in the band at the time. That's Frankie Toler on drums with
Butch. Frankie Toler was the brother of Dan Toler, the other guitar player.
And that's Mike Lawler on the other keys.
Frankie Toler Was pretty good on drums
Anthony: Both Toler brothers were fine musicians . Died too young.
Bass playing is wayyy better than now
@@Billykid514 now? The band doesn't exist. Otiel Burbridge was the last bassist.
Dickey Betts never gets his due respect as a great guitarist and songwriter. I look at these top guitar players articles and they never mention him as they gush over some of the most average ones!
I just want to know why you can't play the Allman Brothers Band Pegasus from 1/4/81 offline like you can with alot of other songs. It just doesn't seen right that you can with some song's and Band's. Can you explain this to me? I am the kind of person that needs to know why people do the things that they do. I just don't see the harm in doing it. I'm sure they will get paid either way. And there are still alot of people out there who can't afford the internet. Maybe they should think about them , after all they are still playing aren't they? That's bcuz of the die hard fans that they still have. So they should be greatful don't you think? I personally do as a matter of fact. Thank You Leroy Huffman and Robin Severson-Smock
Leroy Huffman - buy the CD!
so so me.................................
The Brothers needed to ditch that horrible keyboard player. Yuck!!
Duane would roll over in his proverbial grave hearing that synthesizer shiit.
