First time I'd ever seen this cut of Southbound. Dickey seemed to really be into it and enjoy it so much... the pain is already showing in Greg's face
No bells no whistles no dancers and no bullshit. Remember Duane Allman.
He survived to a cut throat industry a very long time folks!
The greatest band America ever produced..The ABB could play any genre of music & take it to another level...Not to mention Chuck, LOL.There will never be another R.I.P.
Forrest Betts plays his heart out every time!
Gregg has the perfect Blues voice and attitude
Just can't get enough of Gregg.
Is it wrong to like this line-up so much? Chuck Leavell is a huge addition, amazing piano player, backing singer. Dickey taking on all the guitar parts and loving it!
Dickey's the man, as Duane said, Dickey is better than fucking Clapton. That speaks volumes, but when Dickey goes into a jam especially like in 73' not many compare.
Adam Burns - No, this line-up worked. Dickie had to fight to get out of Duane's shadow. It was easier to NOT have another guitar player; let him shine and bring in a piano player to have the "call & response" thing going that both Dickie and Chuck were good at. The ABB were fabulous in these years 1973-1975 without Duane and many ABB fans don't want to hear that. They survived because they were all superb musicians in their own right.
This was a great band! "Wipe the Window, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas" is brilliant..
It is NEVER WRONG to like any version of this band
Chuck Leavells piano solo on Jessica was one of the best ever. I liked every lineup the ABB band had right to the end. Never went through the motions always had great musicians they evolved
The Best Band in the World, R.I.P. To all, The Road Goes On Forever, Like This Music Here, as long as People Can Hear, Cousin Figel
YES I am old but I grew up with the best part of
Fucking classic and AWESOME! Gregg’s voice in peak shape!! Damn I wish they were still around!!
Chuck is such a brilliant pianist...
2003Cpayne I would have loved to see him play with the original lineup . Can you imagine him playing with Duane ?
And even a Better person.
You can't really replace Duane Allman. But if you had to, it'd be with Chuck Leavell.
He played at the Grand a few weeks ago
I have this concert on a cassette somewhere. I taped off of the TV---with a microphone---told everyone to be quiet...LOL!!
bloody awsome yeeehaa
Damn they are jamming here!!!! Gregg Allman is breathtaking gorgeous.
Until you realize what a spineless snitch he was,......
You don't know the whole story' I'm now 77 years old and lived in Macon during those years and guys were friends of mine
It was a really fine concert. I was there. Great weekend with Wet Willie, Marshall Tucker and the Allman Bros. Seems like another lifetime ago.
Can't stop looking Gregg...
Great seeing Bill Graham shake hands w/ Gregg. Gregg liked Bill; wished he had said "thanks" to him at the 1995 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Bill appeared to single out the ABB as one of his favorite bands. Early ABB were extremely tight, professional, and of course great singing. This concert shows the early ABB at their best. Thank you for posting.
Please do not confront me of my failures, I am aware of them.
That was Gregg's alltime regret & why he went back into rehab. I still mourn his passing. 💔
I think Dickey mentioned Bill in his speech there.
Very good southern rock-blues band
Best group of musicians ever and nice people to. Thanks for putting Macon GA on the map!
Earlier in life I heard it said of Buffalo Springfield "best band that ever was or ever will be.." Then came the Allman Brothers. I couldn't say that anymore.
Love Greg Allman voice
So awesome soul full , and just a natural!! Always enjoyed every song!! Such a humble man , and had a rough start in life, Losing his Father and brother , so young,. And of course being the business couldn’t beat his
Demons herion and alcohol, 15 times in rehab and always so kind to people and truly lived his blues !! I miss his awesome voice , and lost his life much to soon!! He kept trying marriage and rehab. RINP Greg Allmann
Jesus is this good, absolutely one of the best bands to ever to assemble, IMO!
I love Gregg. Always will!
Until ya realize he snitched his bandmates out over drugs, carfull where you place your love,....
R.I.P. Duane,Gregg,Berry & Butch ❤️🇬🇧❤️🇬🇧
This is fuckin Killer!!!
Gregg has a voice like no other!! >>>>] So kick-ass!!! 🌈🍄> >> RIP brothers>> thanks for sharing
Mr Betts taking on Duane's slide guitar role & doing a fantastic job.
I lived in Macon during this time, still live in the area, too bad I was only 6 years old when this took place, would have loved to attend some of the shows.
Awesome footage.....Love me some Brothers!
Pure heaven
Saw them two weeks after this at the Capitol Ctr in Largo Md. Supremely better show! Dickeys amp didn’t work during the first number Wasted Words. They went backstage for 20 mins came back out after fixing the problem and put on the best show I’ve ever seen!! Betts played absolutely above himself in a state of Zen or something. The most incredible display of Guitar playing I’ve ever witnessed to this day and I’ve seen just about everybody. I only wish there was at least Some video of this incredible performance as I really cannot find the words to describe it. ( Scratch that last statement). I found the words; a Fillmore Performance!!
yep. pure. carrying on with out Duane. tough times for the Brothers. But a lot of Love.
Such amazing talent,!
American musical treasure.
This was a great lineup! Original final (Derek, Warren, Oteil), and this one are my favorites.
RIP Gregg Allman.
RIP Dickey
This show was not a month after 'Ramblin' Man' was released (August '73), which peaked at #2 on Billboard's Top 100 on October 7, 1973
Second ABB video from 1973 that I've seen today. Interesting that Dickey is playing a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe, a guitar that first came out in 1969, in both videos.
Brothers & Sisters was flying out the record store doors in those days. Poor Lamar Williams was going to suffer from the effects of Agent Orange from his time in Vietnam in the next few years.
It was bitttersweet seeing this for the first time.\ GREG holding the closest thing to his big brother on the stage.. Even the guitar had a star ⭐️ celestial design., just a very surreal moment I risked sharing) ... He was so strung out, looked so helpless. And then opening with Musta done somebody wrong song/\......
Rip Greg .. Rip Dwayne
And IT IS another Saturday night!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY LAMAR WILLIAMS!
Dicky B.is a true artist. A team in a brilliant Jelled TOGETHER!
Hey Duane to a short in his life ... Well he wasn't as short as you thought!
Brotherly love at its finest!
Jaimoe kicking ass and taking names!
😍 Please upload in better quality!!
I find myself waiting for Duane's slide to kick in.... 😓
Wail on Skydog.
RIP Gregg and Berry.
mlbloverock and Butch, got slighted in the rock and roll hall of fame when they listed all the deaths that year. Great drummer.
great stuff
Lamar ,Chuck ..Becoming Brothers. R.I.P Duane,Berry
Lamar Odom!?! He's a bb player!
YES!
Love
Dicky gave this 1958-Les Paul to Dan Tolyer ,,,,I remember in an interview he said,,,,I should have keep that one LOL.
So that's one of the (in)famous les paul deluxes from the 70's.. Doesn't sound too bad in dickey's hands.
I bought a beautiful LP deluxe in tobacco suburst off a dude in bound brook nj in ‘74 when i was thirteen..... they were like $325 new but the standards were over 5 bills....deal breaker at that age but i loved that guitar mini hum buckers and all.... a bit twangy but through my ampeg v4 was a nice rig
I have a '70 Deluxe goldtop. Plays like an angel or a demon through my Fender Twin or the Marshall. Love it - got it at Norms in La
That’s where I work

What guitar is Gregg playing? Never seen it, can barely see it here. looks chrome or mirrored.
Leavall has had a good run hasn't he. Keyboard player for the Allmans and Stones. Kind of surprised he never pulled the hat trick and did the Grateful Dead in between. I guess maybe it was too late to replace Brent already in the Stones at that point.
Maybe he looked at the obits of every keyboardist (except Constanten) and thought the better of it? He would have made a fine addition.
It's not the full concert at all!
prayers for dickey..
What's the update on him? I wonder.
Funny Dicky couldn't get that slide of his finger fast enough.
John Wolk lol Yeah, true...
What is the guitar Gregg's playing?
It's a Veleno aluminum guitar
Yes that is a Valeno. Only couple hundred made. Now they are collector. Very valuable. Entire guitar is one piece aluminum.
Wonder who sang the harmony on Midnight Rider ?
Butch Trucks: Low Harmony
Chuck Leavell: High Harmony
Chuck, I saw them during this tour
Back when Gregg actually give a Sh!t
Gregg always cared about ABB faithfully until the day he passed away, May 27th 2017. 😪
🤦♂️
Man Gregg looks wasted
