  • In todays video we will be looking at the D16 short gear B000 transmission. I had an issue with the transmission going into gear (grinding) which progressively got worse over time. I changed out the clutch master and slave cylinders and the issue went away for a bit. Several months later it felt like the trans was slipping. Upon inspection I found the Clutch Fork cracked and decided to replace it! In this video I will be replacing the clutch fork as well as the throw out bearing. Watch the next video for more PULLS AND SPOOLS!

    i have a 97 civic d-series that sat for 2 years because we thought the bearing went out. FINALLY got around to looing at it after taking it out off storage and found that fork has literally the same crack pattern at the pivot point. 400k and i think only the second fork in its lifetime, not to bad.

    I learned while building mine with my dad, the best forks come from the Z6 and D15s. Y8s have aluminum forks, and those are the ones thats prone to creating that hole. The one you put on looks like its steel so you should be good. We used the steel fork from the Z6 and put it in my Y8 tranny.

      I read that up several years ago on one of the forums, but I thought it was something like steel ones crack and aluminum bend... Ben years though since I looked it up though

    I had the exact same thing happen a few months ago. Though it was the tranny, then the clutch, then the motor (but that's a different issue altogether). No. Just the clutch fork. So, I went and put a new clutch in it anyways and all of a sudden a few weeks after this little grinding noise that sounded like the throw out bearing all the time sounded like rod knock. Only it comes and goes in intensity. Sounds like something broke loose in the farthest most part of the gear case but we will see today. It's new transmission day.

      Yep because it wants to crack

      Did you get that figured out? After doing the repair, the throw out bearing is making noise and its driving me crazy

    is it possible to get that clip back in the fork if your trams is already re installed I thought I had it in but forgot that step and dont want to pull it again if I can avoid it

    • @BoostWanted
      @BoostWanted  Год назад

      I dont believe so because the throw out bearing has to come forward, were you able to do it with the trans still on?

      @BoostWanted hahaha nope dropped it again 😅 and in doing so found more and more issues along the way but what can you expect from a 98 civic with 400,000kms and 8 owners and it was stolen 1 or more times in the past

    Can someone please help me out I'm having problems on my 04 Civic Ex D17a2. The problem is basically to cut it short is when I'm in 5th gear the gear "pops out" and goes back in neutral and it only happens so far on the highway at speeds 60-80 mph. I have already did a transmission flush and no metal shavings were seen so that's good. At times I have trouble getting into reverse have to try for like 3 times hardly ever have trouble getting into 1st. I'm thinking it can be 2 different things based on research.
    1. Bad clutch fork
    2. thinking it can be some CV axles problem that go along with my differential , believe there worn out as they make noise when turning.
    If anyone can shed some light on previous problems they had would be greatly appreciated.

      I dont know much about D17 transmissions, but do they have detent springs like we do? If so, look into that. Bought mine from Hybrid Racing I believe, it was 25 bucks at the time. I read that stiffer detent springs help lock the shifter in gear, and mine feels real good

    Is there any other way to remove both fork and bearing without removing the transmission from the car
