- So here we are with something pretty rare around these parts, a sponsored video! I was asked to check out Double Dragon Gaiden and its new free DLC update and part of that update is Versus mode, aka basically a straight up fighting game. It may not be the most traditional fighter but so many values you would expect in a fighting game are here so lets check it out!

So this is indeed a sponsored video, we don't get many of those, mostly cause im a dedicated fighting game channel! I told them originally that I appreciate the offer and all, but while double dragon is cool and all its not exactly in the style of what I normally make videos for, and then I found out about Versus mode added in their new free DLC pack. Its basically the successor to "Mode B" from double dragon in the 80s which I played RELIGIOUSLY. So lets talk about Double Dragon Gaidens versus mode(and some other stuff) cause its pretty dang cool!

This game, River city girls 1&2, SoR4… beat em ups have gotten a resurgence and I couldn’t be happier. They’ve all been so damn good. So much so the SoR4 is most definitely one of my top ten games of all time and I’m happy their getting some love!!
Double Dragon Gaiden ended up being a surprise hit. It's super addictive.

I'm a big fan of this game! The combos are really crazy, I actually wanna start a competitive community for the game. It would be great if vs mode could be played solo for practice or just vs the bots in my opinion. Just as an added note there's a lot of depth to the combat, there's OTGs and standing resets too. The game is crazy
That tailspin animation is hilarious in a good way. I usually have an issue with pixelated games but the animations are very crisp, I dare say better than the TMNT game that took the same route.
My brother hated Streets of Rage 4 even though it was very well animated, but he enjoys Double Dragon because of the impact of the attacks and the bright colors.
This game is truly a gem, we had a ball playing it together. Definitely give it a try folks!
I bought Double Dragon Gaiden just last night. I've been looking at it and finally decided to pull the trigger. I'm happy I did. It's soooo good

The online is HORRIBLE in this game. They really need to fix the netcode, its unplayable on Playstation. The game is great offline but online is busted, they need to patch it.
I enjoyed this game quite a bit. Was a lot of fun! I need to get back to it w the free dlc.

I thought you'd mention NeoGeo's Double Dragon fighting game. On 1v1 experience, that was GOLD in my opinion. Its special bar charge was very unique (over your life bar) and served as a comeback mechanic at the same time. Classic! I played as Burnov and Abobo back in the day. Great vid 👏🏻
I love the potential for jank/chaos/unfairness. fighting game devs have gotten really good at making sure interesting interactions never happen
Double Dragon Gaiden deserves to be many FGC events & tournaments, because of this awesome mode edition, more DLC content & characters added, the better!!!

Sounds like the perfect time to get it. I can't remember if this is the Double Dragon to come out right after 4 or not, it feels like there's a few DD games that came out after Double Dragon 4.
The survival mode is awesome once you get into it. Really addictive!

This honestly looks like a ton of fun. It reminds me of playing the original double dragon on the NES with my brother. Sadly, the chance of that happening now is nil. No friends to play it with either. Still, thank you for showing it to me. I think it would have been cool to have it cross over with river city girls. I really like that version of Marion.

I'll be honest, when I first saw this game I wasn't a big fan of the artstyle. But the versus mode actually looks kind of fun, I'm surprised other beat em ups like River City Girls don't have one, so maybe I should give this game a try. Now I want a more in depth fighting game that plays like this that's a crossover with other beat em up games like Final Fight, Streets of Rage and Kunio-Kun.

I remember playing a flash game called Abobo's Big Adventure. You would play across various NES games as Abobo, and it was a good time! He's definitely someone I'd play in Double Dragon: Gaiden.

Too cutesy for me... the whole chibi thing can stay in japan, I hope. It felt disrespectful to the original games and I'm still waiting for someone to make a dd game that takes itself seriously.
