- Even after swapping the Points/Condenser on my 009 Distributor into a Pertronix Electronic Ignition, I still felt a slight bit of lag when I push down on the throttle. I opted to swap it out with a Pertronix Flame-Thrower SVDA distributor instead and felt an immediate increase in responsiveness from the engine! Also did the first break-in interval oil change and re-timed the vacuum advanced distributor.

If it is leaking from one of the 6mm nuts chances are who ever built the engine over tightened them. The factory book said use no sealant, I never have, but couldnt hurt to use a little I guess. Every thing looks awesome by the way and my 70' bus is jealous!!
In another video I mentioned, that I suppose, that you used syntethic oil. But here I see, that the old oil is dark, terrible dark. So this oil included the debris and it is the requested mineral oil. So you use the correct mineral oil, which will not harm your motor. Synthetic oil, wich is used in modern cars, would harm your motor.
The distributor swap was the key! According to your clock time both our clocks stopped working at the same time ✌🏼😂. Nice work
haha, good eye!
Love it. Miss my type 3s. Also I’m sure you e heard it before but through a spare clutch cable and accelerator cable in your spare parts box.
Good job cuz!!! Keep going
Yea, you can't do static timing with pointless ignition due to the magnetic hall effect hysteresis
Your doing a great job.
You have any plans to try and fix your dash clock? I’m looking for videos or something to fix mine. It’s at 4:20 also. 👍
I've thought about trying of ix my clock. Way back in the day, I went to one of ISP West's Open Houses and bought 5 clocks for 5 dollars. I was told they are all non-working, but I've never tried. Maybe I can make 1 good one with the 5 broken ones I have haha.
Of paper gasket will burn off. It's a header. It gets very hot. Sometimes turns red depending
.009 Dizzy just not appropriate for regular street and road running VW vehicles and you made the right choice re-introducing the Vacume advanced Dizzy...
Thanks bro! Yeah, I could immediately feel the huge difference in distributor
A 009 is only good for running on one speed, so having the 004 is a lot better. You'll get a lot more quick response
Jeremy do you have a part number or link for the flame thrower distributor?
Thx
Yes, sir! You can go on Amazon and search this

That is a huge amount of aluminum in your oil, beware your case is getting destroyed. I hate to say but the engine was not built right.
Crossing my fingers/toes/whatever else that’s not he case haha. I had a professional machine shop build the block and all it’s internals. They’ve been in business for several decades so I hope they did a decent job. Everything else was done by me, so if it blows up, then it’s all me haha.
Btw, I did just performed a compression test at 1k miles and all cylinder PSI values indicate a healthy engine. I also do have several gauges (cyl head temp, oil temp, oil pressure) that I monitor the entire time the engine is running. They all look healthy.
At around 3k miles, I’ll be doing a deeper dive on inspecting everything, so we’ll see lol.
It did look like kind of a large amount of glitter in your oil. If I were you I would run it 100 miles and then change it again so you can flush some of it out of the engine. If it’s still glittery, do it again. The glitter with the oil will wear down the bearing surfaces in the engine with a quickness.
And also I would show the oil to the machine shop and ask them if they think it’s okay.
