    The song was recorded on January 26th and 31st, 1969 on Apple and they ended it on April 1st, 1970 on Abbey Road. The song wasn't supposed to have orchestra and choir whatsoever, Phil Spector change the song's format without Paul McCartney's authorization!! The single was released on May 11th, 1970 and it was #1 in two weeks. Also it the 27th final single on their career! Thanks for react this amazing song, please react more Beatles songs!

    Before the Beatles ruled the world, bands were limited by the record companies to a length the big wigs deemed were the "correct" length. The Beatles were limited by that as well. It was what they could squeeze into 2-minute singles that earned them the right to make longer, more involved songs like this one.

    • @netzahuacoyotl
      @netzahuacoyotl 5 месяцев назад +1

      The limit was originally set by technology. Until the late 1940s, most music was released on 10” 78 rpm records which could hold up to about 3 minutes of music. A limitation of around 5 minutes applied to 45 rpm singles, late 40s, which continued to be the main distribution format for songs meant for airplay into the 1980s. The 12” LP album, introduced in the late 40s, could hold 15-20 minutes of music per side and allowed artists to create longer compositions. But the 3 minute limit is because of 78 rpm’s and just became standard in the broadcast industry and remained so even though the technology advanced. The 33 1/3 LP and the rise of FM radio and album format stations encouraged artists to push the limits in terms of song length. Of course, The Beatles were in the forefront.

    • @patticrichton1135
      @patticrichton1135 5 месяцев назад +1

      @jonno243 It did for me as well, I was nearly 23 in 1970 when it came out. It brought tears to my eyes then, but now at nearly 77, it makes me cry. I feel the longer you live, the more you identify with the "loss" expressed in the song. Yes, my parents, both sets of grandparents and all my other relative are gone now, except for my 3 adult children and 4 grandchildren, and my sister. A lot of friends have passed as well, plus other people that I have lost. The loss of your youth and the way things were in your life when you were younger. It describes the loneliness I feel at times and longing for times gone by that I miss now. Brilliant song.

      Yes.Its similar for me.I was 19 in 1970,and life was really just beginning as an adult, but this song let me see even then, that things may be good or bad but usually you can find a way back. And the years in between have proved that to me. Another song that hits me in a similar way is "The Hungry Years" by Neil Sedaka @@patticrichton1135

    I don't think Gabe has heard enough to say that the Beatles' ballads are better than their other songs and not all of their non-ballads are short or "jinglely." Day in the Life for instance.
    The Beatles were a band and they broke up, so of course their catalogue will eventually be overtaken by a long lasting, popular solo artist. I just don't think she compares to the Beatles, at all.

    You can put your 30 best or let's say 40 get 40 of your favorite artists and they have not compiled 2.5 billion unit sales The the rest of the musicians artists in groups are below 375 billion units.
    It doesn't have to be long actually .
    Beatles have influenced everybody from music I'm talking to everybody and if everybody says no I guarantee whoever they listen to listen to somebody that listen to it or listen to it themselves to share with that one person who probably doesn't like him the Beatles are the best. Better Metallica better than led Zeppelin better and Pink Floyd , and I'm not trying to get into a subjective opinionated response to this I'm just saying that the best is the one that sells most records has the most ears listening to it crosses over the most music markets I mean to they did it they figured it out and everyone was waiting for their records to come out ,unlike any other band.
    Everyone else is little brother and there's a lot of good bands with a lot of great songs but they didn't put together from end to end a better catalog of songs that were more than invisible enjoyable brought out happiness brought a lot different types of feelings has John Lennon a true troubadour who yeah he had a life of hard knocks you know with his mom out of his life got run over by a car I believe he was 14 his dad was a drunk sailor ,, wonder why he's one of the few if probably the only artist that's a guy that I've heard that has so much hurt and so much just real feelings the guys are not a singer, and John Lennon probably won't say he's the best singer but he's right there even the wonderful voice from Journey and Queen' Freddie Mercury have never had a list of songs up near 200 good to great song.
    Heck even their terrible songs we're innovative.,
    Nobody out there is comparing the best band to your favorite band and I hope it's the right band The Beatles cuz if you do like the Beatles then that's the bandit everyone measures to , nobody's measuring Metallica or led Zeppelin or even you know Pink Floyd ,, it's always the Beatles in somebody else The Beatles and this The Beatles and that different genres from Rock to pop to everyday there's always bands coming from different genres that they're comparing to The Beatles for God's sake that's just the way it is dude they're already seated that's what we can do but they are great.

      Phil Spector almost ruined George Harrison's All Things Must Pass album, had it not been for Harrison's strong songwriting. George Harrison subsequently stated that regretted having Spector over "echo" that album. Hence the brilliant 2020 "de-spector" 2020 remaster, which Harrison had planned for ever since the original release. Apart from being a despicable human being, Spector was a terrible producer, especially compared to the genius George Martin.
