Had one for 2 years and loved it. Looked dynamite and held its value like crazy. Cheap to run, awesome in the snow but you will be upgrading for more "truck". Rear seat is too cramped, no flat floor back there for the dog. Interior tech is good but materials wont blow you away. Seats are comfy but too soft - dont hold up tremendously well long term. Desperately needs more power! Give the little offroad racer the 5.4 or a turbo! At 110 there's little left for a pass and dont plan on towing anything bigger than a single axle, especially with its 70L tank. Was my biggest reason to upgrade.

I think all cars and trucks that have electric differentials / any form of all-wheel-drive attached to it do not let you turn tractioncontrol off entirely. But maybe they actually do and the AWD / Diff just makes it feel like something is interfering / regulating?
I just bought the 2021 Canyon Denali last month, same powertrain. I'm surprised you didn't mention the transmission when shifting down to second and first, the truck will hiccup and shutter a bit. Heaven forbid it's downshifting to come to a stop and you hit the gas again, then it really doesn't know up from down. Maybe it's just a legitimate problem with my truck, it only has 2000km on it so I'm hoping it will figure it out itself. Also I noticed even with traction fully "off", it will reengage itself after 60km/h. Definitely will be looking for that fuse come next winter.
You can totally turn TC off, there's a procedure in the manual. However, if you do that you need to recalibrate the system on dry flat pavement later, which is a pain in the ass.
I am always amazed that diesel cars are so unpopular in NA. When I was in the USA a few years ago I had a Jeep Liberty as a rental car and I was horrified because it easily consumed twice as much as my own mini van, but due to the low gasoline prices in the US driving it was still cheaper than it was with my own car at home. European Gas prices are around $ 7,- per Gallon for Gasoline (USA $ 3,20, Canada $ 4,30) and $ 6,- per Gallon for Diesel (USA § 3,10, Canada $ 3,70). So assuming that a diesel also consumes around 20% less than a comparable gasoline engine, driving a gasoline engine is around 40% more expensive than a diesel. Given the high fuel prices in Europe, this is of course a much stronger argument than in NA.
Launch expressions are hilarious. Kudos to GM for getting a solid 300+ horses out of a utility sixxer. Toyota could certainly use that in the Taco. On the flip-side, the Colorado could use an MT.
Agreed, the lack of convenience features rule this truck out. Not a great truck for everyday use. Have had three acquaintances now who were going to buy them, buy elsewhere. I don't blame them.
It’s absolutely crazy that trucks have these astronomical prices but don’t include basic features like keyless entry/ignition. Plenty of $40k USD trucks have plastic steering wheels, manual cloth seats, halogen headlights/taillights etc etc the list goes on. That fine if these were priced more appropriately, like $25-30k. And it’s fine that trucks cost $40k+ in certain trims, BUT those trims should be equipped like a $40k vehicle and currently both in the small and full sized segments, they are horribly underequipped for their MSRPs

2021 refresh has a physical key and outdated infotainment?! Yikes.
You can totally turn TC off, there's a procedure in the manual. However, if you do that you need to recalibrate the system on dry flat pavement later, which is a pain in the ass.
I couldn't care less if it had a key or push button lol I actually prefer a key. Feels more traditional.
I will always prefer the physical key over a wireless key. Its clearly a preference over needing to be an actual industry standard.
Another "really? In 2022?" moment for me was the lack of Homelink. The Subaru I traded in was 5 years old and had Homelink.
Jacob's beard looks awesome and inspiring
Thanks. I trimmed it since this video tho
@@TheStraightPipes Hope it looks as good as it did😋
I am always amazed that diesel cars are so unpopular in NA.
Fresh out the auction house 🥶
Can you please start adding engine pulls in the intro of the videos because they are very important part of daily driving!
Tire is the rubber.
Rim is what the rubber sits on.
Wheel is the tire plus the rim.
Good video! How come there isn’t a sponsored content notice about Sirius XM? You guys insist so much on it in almost all videos, there’s a sponsorship in there for sure!
Because there's no sponsorship
@@TheStraightPipes OK, then why mention SiriusXM at all? There's so much fun stuff you could use this time to do instead! In this video, Continental (your official sponsor) got 5 seconds on air. SiriusXM was in all CarPlay sequences, PLUS your complaint about rewind so that's like 20-25 secs! For free!
Rewinding sat radio has been my favourite feature in cars since the first Elantra sport review. Why wouldn’t I mention it ever video -Yuri
@@TheStraightPipes For the same reason your coffee cups stopped showing logos too clearly and now come from different coffee shops... Right now it just feels like a sponsor that you're not disclosing, that gets a lot of exposure. Maybe change your mentions to say "satellite radio" instead of mentioning SXM by name? Or show more Apple Music / Spotify / other music sources on screen, coffee cup style? Or both? Or hey, crazy idea : get SXM to sponsor your stuff! lol
Right now these are market up. Very few ZR2 on Autotrader... conversely, I got my Gladiator Rubicon for nearly $10k off MSRP and there were plenty of Mojaves marked down similarly. Even saw a 6spd Mojave at Huntington Beach Jeep for $41k. There are SOO so many Rubicons on autotrader in my area... virtually no JLU Rubicons though, and they aren't discounted a penny. In my area, there are currently 18 new Tacomas on autotrader vs 96 Gladiators. There is 1 TRD Pro Taco, vs 26 Rubi, and I'm shocked it's not market up, just going for MSRP. There are only 6 new Colorados right now and 5 of them are work truck trims. Expanding my area to 100 miles for the nearest ZR2 and it's $47,500. Within 100 miles, there are 221 Gladiator Rubicons, 11 ZR2s, and 5 TRD Pros.
The fact that it doesn't have push to start or keyless entry is pretty ridiculous in 2021, my 3 year old civic has both
The key is quite obsolete but the Tacoma’s drum brakes are even more so.
What if you just kept the key in the ignition, would the truck lock from the fob?
Everyone is driving a diesel in europe because our taxes and fuel prices are out of the world. To have something above 300 hp its costs alot of money to insure it and register it. Its easy for an American or Canadian to come here and dish out, but do you really think we woudnt drive 400+ hp V8s if we could?
When I was thinking about buying a truck, I really thought about buying this one. I really like it. But I still chose the F150 with little lift. F150 is batter in daily life.
Jakob bruh a physical turn key is a beautiful thing
does the stabilitrak shows on cluster anymore by holding TC button more than 10sec or so? did not did not notice on this video thanks
Who has a seperate FOB from the Key ? Combined - fine, but this ... are the 90s back ?
I have a complaint as a non GM owner for ALL GMs. So when you press unlock or open a door the reverse light turn on. This causes the rest of us to stop thinking you're about to back up from a parking space. This has been like this for a while and it's STUPID.
300,000KM Raptor or the ZR2?
These guys talk all day about Sirus XM satellite radio rewinding, as a Canadian I don't know what the heck that is! Doesn't everyone use spotify or something?
I just like sat radio more. I like that it’s built in. I like that there’s so many good channels that play music I didn’t know I wanted to hear
Wait, did you guys stop doing the visor test?
I drive my ZR2 to work in dress pants all the time. Definitely have to be mindful of the rock sliders unless you want a nice dirt mark on the back of your pants.
Like others have stated, please start reviewing the sound quality/bass of the speakers. Super important!!!
Speakers are the easiest upgrade to do yourself, though.
