    I bought the 21 ZR2 with the Bison Package. Looks even more bad-ass with meatier skins and custom badges and embroidery inside. 2" factory lift, wide wheel stance with extended flairs and loads of custom skid plates. Love it.

      The only thing missing is the Diesel! AEV does it right with the Bison. My AEV JEEP has 213,000 miles on it and still looks and rides incredible.

    I have a white 21 zr2. I am a lifelong Chevy man. Incredibly capable, bold 4-wheeling system from the factory. Lockers, lift, satisfactory tires. It climbs like a billy goat. It’s a baby monster truck, which is good. It’s not too heavy or long or wide or as top-heavy as a super-lifted status symbol. I love it. Buy it and add to or change it how you want, but it is bad-to-the-bone from the showroom floor. Best, complete 4x4 Chevy has ever put out. Dannnnnng! DTM

    Gorgeous truck. I roll in a 2005 Colorado w/ 95000 miles on it. Just had it fully serviced at my local Chevy dealership. Saw these new ZR2's and the 4 banger, diesel 🦬 Bison over there. Dreaming of these, don't have enough to pull the trigger on the financing. Thanks for the interesting overview.

    Absolutely love the Zr2. Just wish the rear slider was power and they offered a moon roof/sun roof and fog lights without having to add the Bison package.

    Thanks for the video! If Chevy ever figures out how to add a splash of color to their interiors to brighten things up a bit, I might actually like one enough to trade next time. I do hate the interior and the new front end still hasn't grown on me yet, but maybe one day it will. Otherwise, I love the zr2! Thanks again for showing it to us.

      "Affordability" is relative. ;-)
      I expect to get a ZR2 ("Sand Dune Metallic" color) next month (March)...not that I can "afford" the price if I had to pay it up-front, but sure can afford the payt's (especially with a healthy down-payment from selling my 2016 Honda Pilot).
      That works for me! :-)
      Besides, I HAVE to get a ZR2: I'm in CO and I was told it's THE LAW here. ;-)

    • @cryengine_x
      @cryengine_x 3 года назад +1

      Me too. However as trucks go nowdays it's not even crazy expensive. I know blue collar guys spending 40, 68, even 82k on freakin trucks (full size platinum editions etc). This one stickers 45 but you could probably get it for 40. I totally agree though cars in general are a huge sticker shock nowdays. all the environmental regulations are to blame, all to save almost no miles per gallon (my 08 truck gets ~20 a gallon, and the 2021's get about the same)
      I love how amazing the Zr2 look but honestly would never use the off road capability. I saw a used 2016 4wd 6 cylinder (no ZR2 of course) with IIRC ~50k miles on carvana for 20k. More my price range. Extended cab rather than crew cab but I can live with that, and it would have all the capabilities I need to drive the occasional icy road we get around here in East Texas winter.

    • @billredding2000
      @billredding2000 3 года назад

      @@cryengine_x I'm only going to be using the ZR2's off-road capability occasionally, and only in some situations. MOST driving with be around town, then some log-weekend road trips. I'll use 4x4 MORE up here in CO, but LESS in TX. Still, it's nice to have in case you DO need it...rather than not having it available at all, yes?
      First, a real/true 4x4 -- not to be confused with my Pilot's AWD, as excellent as Honda's iVTM4 (aka: Acura SH-AWD) system is -- will be better in snow on the roads (pavement), especially deeper snow we sometimes get after a blizzard. Not to mention snow on the off-road trails/forest roads we have almost everywhere in CO. And, when it's really bad out there in the city on a particular "snow day," drive around and help people who are stuck (like lots of 4x4 owners do here) -- as I did with my Pilot. If I were back in West Texas (ELP), however -- where I might be in 3-4 years -- I couldn't use the "snow excuse" card. :-(
      Secondly, I want to do some of the many mountain passes (11,000+ feet -- CO has over 50 peaks that are 14K or higher) we have here in CO, where some parts of said passes my Pilot couldn't handle (and I'd have to turn around and go back). Even back in West TX though, I could use true 4x4 out in the desert/hills: I've taken my Pilot places it shouldn't (!) be going, so I again saw I really needed a "serious" 4x4 even in the outback there. And mot passes have signed posted: "High clearance 4x4 vehicles only" (not AWD).
      As the ZR2 does BOTH off-road and on-road very well, I'm covered...
      Besides, the Bronco STILL isn't out yet, and the Jeeps, well they have mixed reviews on reliability (for YEARS now), and both bronco & Jeep can only tow 3500lbs (not enough for MY needs).
      As it's now (3-3-21), I should have my ZR2 by the middle of the month...or earlier (it's up to how fast my car-buying-concierge guy can find it). Already have an offer from CarMax on my Pilot, and 2 lenders (1 bank & 1 credit union, out of 3 banks and 3 credit unions) are in the wings waiting to finance the rest at a very good (IMO) APR. Then I do accelerated pay'ts and pay it off early -- sounds like a good plan! ;-)
      So now I just wait for "my guy" to find one -- in Sand Dune Metallic color, of course! But no "Sports Bar & Lights," thank you!
      Happy Trails,
      -- BR
      P.S. Talking about "things to live with" as you mentioned, the ZR2 doesn't check ALL my boxes, either (like no push-button start)...but what it DOES give me, I CAN live with the misses. Besides, there are always trade-offs in life re: MANY things...I just try to get the most Pros and least Cons -- at an "affordable" price -- as the "perfect whatever" doesn't exist (for most of us).
      BTW, am keeping my ZR2 mostly STOCK...for me, it's fine they way it is. NO interest in larger tires, higher lift, etc. PERHAPS a bed-rack/rooftop tent, AND rear shock-mount skid plates (as they hang-down REALLY low!), but otherwise, just stock.

    • @billredding2000
      @billredding2000 3 года назад +1

      @@pagodad2036 Right NOW, my only choices (as said) are the ZR2, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon/Gladiator Rubicon or Ford Bronco (still not HERE yet). So by default, it's GOT to be a ZR2. Kind of "by default." In a few years? Who knows what OTHER choices we'll have.
      So, I can only HOPE they finally (3 years later after yours!) put a GOOD transmission in my soon-to-be-purchased 2021 Chevy Colorado ZR2 (again, in Sand Dune Metallic color of course!)...but just in case the transmissions are STILL trouble (if so, GM should be CLASS-ACTION SUED for that!), will be looking into getting a GOOD extended-warranty plan, either from GM or aftermarket, like Car Shield or such. ;-)
      But you know, I can always sell/trade it in just before the OEM 3-year/36K miles (60 months/60K miles on drive-train) warranty is up and get a 2024/2025 ZR2 -- IF it has behaved itself and had no serious issues -- since by then (I've read) the current V6 gas engine will be gone (as of 2023?) and it'll have a new engine (4cyl turbo) with more torque, and possibly better gas MPG, a real problem with the ZR2 presently on the highway for road trips. DO I want a turbo engine? Not really, but that's the way the mid-sized vehicle power-plants are going: Dumping the V6 and going turbo-4, whether we like/want it or not -- just like them PUSHING pushing EVs (I do NOT want ANY electric vehicle!). And no, I don't want a diesel engine, either.
      ...but that's THEN, not now!
      So I repeat: I HOPE my 2021 ZR2 serves me well...if not, we'll see what OTHER 4x4 off-road (but good on the highway also, as if the ZR2 is over Jeep and possibly even the "still not here yet" Ford Bronco!) GAS vehicles are available on the market come 2024/2025.
