Needs to be on a Zman plastic or something with flotation for a true Ned rig. Need that flotation, especially bed fishing in spring off the bottom. Also helps with snags keeping your hook vertical.
I literally just finished this video went right outside with a ned rig trying to get the skunk out because I’m on a lake in md that’s really hard fishing and just used your techniques and caught a smallie thx man
The name Ned Rig came because of the creator of the technique's name is Ned Kehde. He always refers to it at Midwest Finesse though, and the guy catches 30 fish on a slow day because he's a machine. It's crazy town haha
I fish a nedrig a majority of the time when I’m out at my local lake and I slam pickerel and bass constantly. I fish it similar to you but I pull it up and let it fall and I let it sit for a couple of seconds for the fish to grab it off the bottom and a good majority of the time that’s when they grab it, off the bottom. Love the nedrig, simple to rig, simple to use and I have a ton of fun using it. Second weapon of choice is the drop shot with a flat worm and of course I only use natural colors as well. Canada Craw, Black, Pumpkin Goby.
They are definitely the most beautiful bass with those tiger stripes..just amazing, great job guys thanks for the vid tyler we love and appreciate you. God Bless and until next time tight lines
There are actually several other small strike king plastics that work amazingly on the ned rig. The zero z too split tail jerk shad Jr in elaztech, the rage tail ned bug, and the 3" rage bug are all amazing.
ned rigs are so easy to catch fish with... after trying different brands, i've come to only use z-man now, their material is something else, and last much longer... had strike king and they are just as good at catching fish, and [accidentally] caught a couple walleyes on them too, but the material start to tear off after a few big catches, or several hard casts.. i can fish a z-man ned until it snags on something and i have to break it off, saving me money from having to restock every few trips 🤷♂️
Just fished a Ned rig today. Fished it at a pond that's part of a small river. Never fished there before, so I started with a popper, then 3/16 oz Texas rig, and finally a Ned. Unfortunately skunked. The water was a shallow stream (no more than 6 feet at the deepest) with lots of tree roots and grass. I saw lots of bluegills and trout, but no bass, unfortunately. Gonna have to go back there with smaller tackle.
@@TylersReelFishing Not yet. The popper I throw is lipped, the Booyah Prank, so I crank it in when I don't get bites on the popping action. Real shallow diver, only 2 feet max, but I caught my PB working it as a crankbait. Definitely plan on getting a couple dedicated crankbaits before next spring. Any recommendations?
I think the cut r bug is genuinely the most versatile lure available. The action makes swimming it just as viable as the shake and hop of a normal ned rig. At least in arkansas, this thing slaps. Its quickly becoming my all time favorite bait.
Your one brave soul for those straight jokes on here this day and age. Not gonna catch one heated word from me though lol. I laughed the first time I saw those clips.
My friend and I use the Ned rig in all kinds of types of water and water condition we went yesterday and our river is flooded and so we had to put on waders and caught 9 we both doubled up and we use zman Ned rig jig heads 1/10oz and it's perfect on 8lb fluorocarbon line
the ned rig caught me my PB smallie last year and does work phenomenal in small rock and gravel. However when your talking large chunk rock and boulder like on the upper potomac it will not work very well exposed hook or weedless ned, it will get caught on those bigger rocks and you'll lose that lure
Keep up the great work tyler your awesome you've helped me soo much i dont know everything so when prople ask something i dont know i give them your channel.
Can you please make an updated shaky head video it would help me a lot I have a tournament in a couple months and I have been told to use shaky heads and I’m not very sure on how to use them
I just purchased a medium light extra fast rod for my Ned rigging and weightless wacky rigging set up. Do you think that I went with too light of a rod? I heard you say in the video that you have a medium fast rod. I’m just wondering if I went to light with my rod now… should I send it back and get the medium extra fast or the medium fast because I just purchased a 7foot medium light extra fast from Academy 😮
Lots of rock in the lakes I fish (central Texas). There’s also zebra mussels... does a ned rig give you some Forgiveness from them shredding your line or is drop-shot a better finesse application?
Cool rhank you! I have been trying to use it but its hard to set the hook, i have a bass spinning reel but what would be a good rod for a person on a tight budget ( thirty bucks or under)
love how every one keeps copying Jon B. He did a simplified ned rig full video about 3 years ago on his channel and a more current one on the ned rig on Googan Labs about a month ago.
"bout as straight as Don Lemon on CNN"..... DEAD
You’ll catch heat for the straight jokes, but it was hilarious 😆
Lol, nobody is gonna start beef with a fishing YTber
Those unaligned ned rig analogies killed me, I genuinely laughed out loud.
love the slam on CNN!!!!😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼 Great video Tyler
I've caught a clam on a ned rig
I’ve caught a Ned on a clam rig
@@garyeplinglll ......I caught a rig on a damn Clam Ned and it bit me now I have Clam Ned Rig fever and ain’t been right since.
@@robertlangley258 that’s horrible. Get well soon. Maybe you’ll be like Spider-Man and turn into Ned-clam-man
I catch them on wacky rigs a lot
That’s funny

Isn't that something they advertise? That they float?

Just started using the ned rig for the rivers and spillways here in NY. Definitely works!
Nice!!

Great ones!
Why the hate for the walleye? Good eatin' fish there.
I fish ned rig above weeds and absolutely slay bass! My favorite thing to use.

You throw a flat sided crank yet?

Wow! Fishing with Mr. Lo! Stand up guy, super cool you two guys are fishing together!!
I live on lake lanier thats on a spot the goes from rock to gravel/pebble bottom to sand and havent been able to rip a walleye lip
The Owner Block Head Offset Jig Head are the best with the ned oaco or the Zman trd
2:58 tbh i have no idea😂
That don lemon line killed bro. Very very nice
Wow I was thinking about trying out ned rigs yesterday and you make video on it lol ty!

Yeah it’s super dope
Wonder what that was that jumped behind you at 6:05 in the vid
I love the ned! I do love the EWG Ned rig!
In my experience, the Ned rig needs to be used sparingly. You can catch 15 fish in 15 minutes on one, but then the bite dries up QUICK!
Great information learned to take onto my next fishing trip! Thanks!

This is the most helpful channel on yt
Hey tyler, if you rig it like a texas rig it can be fished weedless without those stupid wires on the jig bass still slam it😅
Bro that straight joke caught me so off guard. I was at work and then randomly started laughing so hard my buddy thought I’d gone crazy😂
Good haha

Lol.. The intro.. Smallie are crazy how they just stay straight up and fly kicking the water with there tails
Is that Trevor Lo?! Awesome. Lucky you!
Love your vids they help me a lot
What happened to the water at 6:04 ?

@@whitneygreen220 thank you 😂
You should come out to our OPEN Tournament at Brookeville Lake, IN, Tyler. April 6, 2024. Cincinnati Bassmasters
Wish I could! But I live in Texas haha
I use a Zebco Omega Spincast on a medium light 6'6" with 6lbs mono 😂 on my Ned rigs
10:08 working the Ned rig
Can you please make an updated shaky head video it would help me a lot

Can someone explain what disrupted the water at 6:04?
A mermaid
I’ve been using ned rigs a lot lately and and wanna know more so watched this, caught a big one today on it, 16+ inches and probably 4+ pounds
Awesome!!
I caught a fish that was 18 inches, and 3.5lbs so your estimate isn’t to far off
gotta love the seven baitcasters and 1 spinning reel
Lots of rock in the lakes I fish (central Texas). There’s also zebra mussels... does a ned rig give you some
Forgiveness from them shredding your line or is drop-shot a better finesse application?
Do you know what kind of spinning reel and rod your buddy was using in the video?
6:07 mark Shad went crazy in background
Whats the best gear ratio for ned rigs? 6.2:1?
Lol I was dead sticking my Ned and caught a massive goby/sculpin
You and Trevor lo should do a tournament with each other.
What’s up Tyler, thanks for your videos
And thank you for watching Dennis!
What in the alligator swam past between 6:04-6:08?
Just a school of bluegill that was getting chased
Can you do a Shakey head vs Carolina rig challenge vid
I've caught a pickerel using a ned rig and a bass I love ned rigs
I recently got the ewg Ned rig head and can’t for the life of me get it to fall straight and also not destroy the plastic
Awesome video!
anything smaller? 3-4 inches seems like way too big for me 😫
6:04 baits are getting absolutely munched by the boat
I throw Ned rigs on both spinning rods with 8 pound line and baitcasting with 12 pound
Tyler dude I would love to go fishing with you. I got some stuff i could learn from you.
Maybe one day! For now learn all you can through the videos!
do you ever use live bait and if so, when?
I wish that I could fish with you Tyler's
I'm going to get that I love using ned rig I've caught a pickerel on it
I’ve been reeling in my Ned rig like a crank bait, but slower. Probably why I don’t catch much?
Yes precisely
Great video. Can you tell me what size rod you use for the ned? Power and Action?
Either 7'M or 7'2"M. Fast or Moderate Fast
@@TylersReelFishing Medium power?
We need some “yes sir” merch
I just launched the "Give Em The Business" shirts!
Those are not straight!😂 this guy is killin me , this is half the reason i watch this channel!😂
Is a zebcoe rod that is 6’ and medium action okay to use for ned rigs? I am very new to ned rigs so sorry for all of the questions
No, get you a good spinning combo
Cool rhank you! I have been trying to use it but its hard to set the hook, i have a bass spinning reel but what would be a good rod for a person on a tight budget ( thirty bucks or under)
But Strike King were the ones who invented Elaztech and have Elaztech products too. I've seen Strike King have Elaztech 5in stick baits.
I thought z man invented? That's why Noone can call their product elaztech besides zman
Strike king has something just like it. But not called elaztech
what do you have in your cap? Thank you!
I've used it in grass areas and I caught a pickerel with it
I jig a ned rig it's worked for me
Can you throw a ned rig in sandy/ rocky or just rocky bottom?
Sandy works great too!
What do you think of hair jigs tyler.. Personally i love them for smallies
I released an in-depth video on them a few weeks ago! You must have missed it!!
Anyone see that at 6:07ish?
Yes a school of bluegill got scared
@TylersReelFishing super cool! Ive yet to see something like that in freshwater. Thanks for the reply man, learned a ton because of you 🙏
What's a good tip you could share that helped you grow your channel?
Ned rig is a killer
Fishing with or without a bobber for beginners
I don’t throw any bobbers. Those are only needed for live bait like worms or crickets. I teach only artificial lures on my channel
love how every one keeps copying Jon B. He did a simplified ned rig full video about 3 years ago on his channel and a more current one on the ned rig on Googan Labs about a month ago.
Who?
5:45 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Watched you for awhile but never picked up on this. Why do you use seaguar over strike king floro?
Just his line sponsor. Just like strike king makes jig heads but he uses OutKast
Cause Seaguar fluoro is better
Forward facing radar and livescope is like fishing in VR
And I love it
I have a ugly stick spinning rod I've had it since the year 2000
I love your video
Whats kinda stupid is that my little cousin will “spin rig” anything and troll it behind the boat and get bit that lure be spinnin tho
Some people are just like that haha
Catch some big small mouth walleyes .?
Another great video.i was just wondering if you followed any of the older fisherman.there were good tv shows.
6:05 😅🐟
Good ol Uncle Ned
Loved the CNN slander 🤣🤣
5:46 for me 😭 😭 😭
Funny, but the first time I tried it, it went on the hook as crooked as FOX's old Tucker Carlson!😊
How much simpler can a ned rig get?
Oh you ain’t seen nothing yet
