Respect to Apsana Begum who has continued to stick to her principles and support unions whilst facing horrendous abuse inside and outside the Labour party.
MP Apsana is such a strong person to have persevered under all the threats, after escaping DV yet she is still incredibly softly spoken. Well articulated points. I’m glad MP Diana Abbott had her at her side during the PMQs. Mutual support is so important.

My deepest respect to Apsana Begum, solidarity from the Netherlands! The more and more pro-Palestine activism is maligned, the more it looks like the Tories and Labour move towards the crackdown on Ireland and Irish activism that happened during the Troubles (and before that).
The biggest rise in *Irish activism* is against asylum seekers and immigrants. Sure the Irish shelter under some 'special catagory' status from the woke left as part of the 'oppressed world' but the Irish love life, laughter and a craik and will sooner break ties with the woke than give up their true identity.
Hi "trainticketboy". I am not "far-right". That's just an insult the Left came up with to try to silence anyone who speaks the truth about mass migration. I am not "far-right" because I actually liked how my country was - particularly in the 90s. I didn't want it to change. I didn't want my culture and identity eliminated. I like each country to be different because that's what makes the world interesting. And lastly, I don't want Islam here because it is incompatible with European values. Do you have a problem with that? Or do you want a world with no ethnic identity or cultural individuality, where everyone looks the same?
Define who is far right? Nobody seems to know or heard of them. It is a term of abuse or bogeyman used by left wing extremist. Everybody can easily identify who is hard left, namely the socialist workers party, BLM. The distinction between say neo-marxist socialist and fascist (who embody socialism) is very little. Mussolini, who founded fascism was previously an avowed communist.
She was one of Lutfur's 21 'special advisers, who did nothing for a 30k salary. She jumped the queue for social housing on a 80k salary. She spread anti-Semitic posts. A lot of Muslims are concerned about Islamist too with the majority of people but their voices are not heard by prominent Muslim individual or organisations representing them. On the contrary as one of them brave enough to dare to come out and say that Islamist is a threat and has to be dealt with and one can not pussy foot round it. I hope these money given to the mosque is not in the hand of the very people who are perpetuating. I have heard anti Semitic speeches even materials black and white videos from Khomeini’s Iran shown in the mosque over the years. Mosque is not used only as places of prayers. The Muslims have bought 500 churches and converted them into mosque.
Fair point , but the reason Churches are being converted into Mosques are due to Muslims needing places of worship and Christians dying off and others abandoning or not continuing in their faith .
Moderate muslims voted for Sadiq Khan. He called them " Uncle Toms ".....whites are Kufars.. Still te Muslims vote for him. They even defraud the ballots to get him in. Moderate Muslims ?
@jj-yi1ne- there absolutely is an Islamist threat! When you import people on mass that think their beliefs should control your every way of life, due to extreme religious bigotry, then there is a real threat!

I hope she reads the supportive comments on here to help mitigate the horrendous way people have treated her, it's disgusting. I'm white and atheist and support her 100%, and Diane Abbot. All kinds of abuse of minorities are not only tolerated, but encouraged and in some cases now enshrined by law in the UK. We haven't learned from WW2.
The far right is rising mainly due to immigration from Muslim countries and the problems it causes. It's not based on racism but instead events caused by Muslims themselves. Just look at why Norway made women's rights classes compulsory to uslim immigrants. Look at what happened in Cologne, Germany 2015 on New Years Eve Night. Look at what happened to Samuel Paty - he was a French teacher that was beheaded by an 18 year old Chechen Muslim refugee after he showed cartoons of Muhammad in a freedom of expression class. Why do you think? The French, like the British, have not changed their opinions on Islam/Muslim peoples since the Crusades. Even when those Islam/Muslim peoples are coming from their own Empires, including families that had forefathers that fought in both world wars are among the immigrations. I can go further in this comment, and point to the only former British Realm that was Muslim and thriving from the very beginning in the form of Malaysia, and how the British betrayed them in the early 2000's, and managed to piss off us ANZACS over it. If I remember, Canada got in on that as well. Which goes to show, that even after that, the UK has not learned from its mistakes. In a time where two Maori were killed outright in the UK, you have a very serious racist problem. Which, with the NZ elections recently throwing up similar, is a sign it is starting to spread throughout the Commonwealth, and in places that is shocking to see.@@ecnalms851
Philosopher Karl Popper described the paradox of tolerance as the seemingly counterintuitive idea that “in order to maintain a tolerant society, the society must be intolerant of intolerance.” Essentially, if a so-called tolerant society permits the existence of intolerant philosophies, it is no longer tolerant...
Is it not the other way round? A tolerant society must accept those with intolerable views, or else it cannot be truly tolerant. It is not the society being intolerable as a whole because of 1 individuals views, but the society is not tolerant as a whole if it cannot accept 1 individuals views. I am not inferring anything, genuine question
@jonduffin7560 Fair question, an argument used by free speech absolutist, however since when the intolerants are not challenged they destroy the tolerant ones... Worth reading into :)
@@jonduffin7560 No, it's a paradox for the maintainace of general tolerance. The argument is 'extremists are pigheaded and relentless, thus will pervail in the long run and the medicine for it must be radical intolerance agaist extremists'. There is not one single party or politician who represent the people as a whole in the UK! They each have their own agenda for either personal gain or for a select few. The British way of life has drastically changed as more of these Politicians want to move towards sectarian or identity politics. This country has gone down the pan over the last 25 years
> There is not one single party or politician who represent the people as a whole in the UK! There never has been anywhere, ever. The whole point of democracy is to allow diverse points of view to be represented by different parties. However, there are people in some countries who claim to represent their entire nation. Apsana's resilience is incredibly inspring for those of us fighting for justice in the UK. However, whats becoming more and more apparent is that the political alternative is less and less likely to come from the racist institution that is the Labour Party.
Compared to Japan, I think the UK is a lot more extreme, cause people either really don’t mind, or they become hell bent and openly vindictive. In Japan, who knows how fully accepting people are, but they are extremely unlikely to be openly vindictive and hateful towards foreigners, hence I feel Japan is a lot more tolerant

There’s definitely gonna be problems in this country before long. There’s too much immigration and certain areas of Britain have completely changed as a result. It saddens me to see Muslims being treated the same way homosexuals were treated in the UK just a decade or two ago. No wonder the term Islamophobia came to be, or why Muslims relate so closely to the struggle homosexuals went through that gave rise to the term homophobia. I am hopeful that one day - my Muslim brothers and sisters will one day enjoy being treated to the same level of respect and tolerance in the UK that we offer homosexuals. Peace and much love.
Britain has a two party system both with diverse cabinets that are diverse for reasons that are more about presentation than anything else. One party has a tradition of being very classist and racist the other claims it is an alternative. Non white MPs are forced to choose either to ignore the obvious or believe in a fantasy. Not much of a choice but it’s not them that’s in control of real change. We have only recently passed into law that it’s equally illegal to kill an ethnic minority person as it is to kill a white person to expect equality is unrealistic. Before anyone says that’s controversial we should examine the motivations behind the murder of Jo Cox as a white woman that didn’t comply with white supremacist. If he was Muslim the entire network that supported his cause would have been ripped apart and prosecuted. Politics has had a continuing problem with falling to deliver on its promises. Racism unfortunately is just another on the list of failures.
It is noticeable she does not mention her experience with white/ indigenous populations but her ideas of revolve around the Muslim community only. Domestic abuse on her has been delivered to her by a Muslim partner. She confuses propalestinian protests with British traditions.

As someone so clearly well read on the Quran .. you will know that the forcing of the Hijab/Burka also goes against the Quran And you will also know... that most women make the choice themselves to wear it and are not forced. And that the forcing is from extremists who are not representative of the religion as a whole... and has more to do with country values than religious ones And as someone also so well read on religion you will know that it is not only Islam that has this issue
Sometimes a wonder what country I am in , is the crucifix around my neck a figment of my imagination , is the neighbours flag Palestinian or English , is the Government Christian or Muslim. Did Lewis Carroll fortell the future in that we are ALL crazy?
Wow, I thought for a moment that I'd been transported back to 700ad. I think if you actually research it, most British people don't believe in religion at all, the ones who do are the older generations, and they are dying out. We live in a multicultural country, so obviously there will be cultural and religious differences, it's not rocket science. To all who have an issue with that, let's not forget we were the ones who went round stealing people from various countries to bring back here as slaves. If you want to complain about other ethnicities and religions being in 'christian' Britain, blame your ancestors, otherwise how about we let people have what beliefs they have or don't have, and start just being more tolerant and kinder, that is what is needed to form communities, not forcing division.
@@DarkSister. Is that your immutable position... permanently fixed in the firmament of your psyche? Probably not. So being a Muslim is more than just wearing a hijab.. but doing so is a choice she will ahve made to show her ultimate devotion to her faith and devotion to Allah (God) and people who tell her she shouldn't wear it are no better than those who would say she must. But the choosing to wear it even with all the pressures to not wear it IS the greatest defiance to all the hatered she gets as a muslim MP. But also to answer your question as to what being a Muslim Mp means compared to a non-muslim MP... so there are guidences on things like finances, ethics, the way in which one should present themselves, treat others ect.... that will be influenced by her interpritation and learnings from her faith. This could be things like what she would will financially back (like not alcohol/tobacco/gambling) but in other ways too like putting emphasis on charitable support of those in need... so this would say impact her support for legislaion that will help and support some of the most vulnerable people within out society. Namely.. she has morals which sadly some of our more senior MPs (and PMs) seem to lack
Very good interview. Indeed you are a brave woman. I was so shocked that in our Parliament in 2024 Diane Abbot, after the appalling words spoken about her, had other people speaking about what happened to her, and the Speaker did not give her a voice! I honestly did not realise we still have so far to go...
Annoying thing is I have never seen her or someone else being effectively challenged on her views and yes there are some very bad views (e.g. Stop the War petition, first few days after October 7th)
And yet your comment remains. And you are not expected to convert. So everything you have just said is false. Stop trying to make people afraid by playing the victim - it's pathetic.
Of course you are allowed and you don't have to like it. As an atheist I dislike all religions and find their practices oppressive, hypocritical and often quite silly. The important part is how that manifests. I would never, for example, deny anyone the right to practice their religion, nor would I treat them differently for wearing the accoutrements of that religion. Imagine threatening to rip someone's crucifix or yarmulke off... you just wouldn't. So why should it be any different with Islam? We can all get along just fine if we let it happen. Underneath the personal preferences we all have that we might not agree with (hijab wearing, swinging, pet ownership, praying at set times, being vegan, fasting, bondage, satan worship, being trans), we all share a common humanity. Focus on that.

I dont know who you think Joe is because thats just the larger company brand name. But the far right is a side of government with conservative ways, it once was led by the exreamly religeous. Brought into our country first with Oliver Crownwell. Who banned many activities such as Christmas because they didnt fit into his views as a right wing rich posh twat. 'Far right' is a term thats becoming very vastly increasing, it can be traced back to the times of ancient rome, Ancient Egypt. Its these communist ways of rich stay rich, poor stay poor, we rule everything, nationalism, narcasim first. In the past 100 years, the biggest 'Far right' places have been the likes of dictaterships like North Korea, China and WW2 Nazi Germany, among many others. Its places fuled with the obsession of 'if its not like me, its bad' The deffenition of 'Far right' is an exremist or far view or action based on right wing idiology. and the defenition of right wing is the range of political ideologies that view certain social orders and hierarchies as inevitable, natural, normal, or desirable, typically supporting this position based on natural law, economics, authority, property, religion, or tradition So when you ask "Who are the Far Right" Its the people that base their views on these past traditions and hierarchies, who throw away any form of human decency because they dont belive its their 'traditions' or 'natural' Right now in this country we have many different political parties. But lets say 10 years ago we had 'far' left with Green, then left of center with labour, right of center with Tories and far right with UKIP. But with polarisation with tories views today being the exact same as ukips or the formally name Brexit party, now known as ReformUK. The right is pushing and polarising. And what usually happens is the left would also push back and bacome far left, labour is seeming to polarise from within, with some memebrs moving with the far right and becoming more centralist and some members becoming more far left. Also fun side not about america the 'left wing' Democrats are still considered to be far right in most other countries, so they would be comparable to the UK Conservative party or maybe the modern Lib Dems and the 'right wing' Rebublicans who even by americans views are now seeing them as 'Far Right' like UKIP, ReformUK and the modern Conservative party. Hope this helped Kev

Think about the political spectrum on 4-axis. Left and right are socialist and conservative respectively. Up and down are authoritarian and communism respectively. The far right would be extreme conservatives.

What happened in Cologne 2015 Germany in New Year’s Eve happened the same year Germany accepted 1 million refugees from almost all Muslim countries and the perpetrators on that day were 2000 men described as Arab appearance. It doesn’t surprise me that the incident occurred by male migrants coming from Muslim countries that are characteristic of what if I said before. And it does matter that they’re Muslim because they’re Muslim immigrants from Muslim countries. They’re not native to Europe, they are coming from a culture that is incompatible to that of Europe because of their conservatism and sexism. If the immigrants were coming from South America, or NA, or parts of Asia like China or Vietnam, I can guarantee what happened in Cologne wouldn’t have happened because our values and culture on women’s rights as well as secularism are similar.

Do you have a problem with that? Or do you want a world with no ethnic identity or cultural individuality, where everyone looks the same?

I have heard anti Semitic speeches even materials black and white videos from Khomeini’s Iran shown in the mosque over the years. Mosque is not used only as places of prayers. Fair point , but the reason Churches are being converted into Mosques are due to Muslims needing places of worship and Christians dying off and others abandoning or not continuing in their faith .

The rise of the far-right in Europe and opposition to Muslim immigration is not a coincidence and is not founded on baseless claims.

Lord Sumption used a very similar argument in his Reith lecture. It was not well received.
@@jonduffin7560 No, it's a paradox for the maintainace of general tolerance.

The hijab and burka are never even mentioned in the Quran, so why are women forced to wear them? not religious reasons.
As someone so clearly well read on the Quran .. you will know that the forcing of the Hijab/Burka also goes against the Quran
And you will also know... that most women make the choice themselves to wear it and are not forced. And that the forcing is from extremists who are not representative of the religion as a whole... and has more to do with country values than religious ones
And as someone also so well read on religion you will know that it is not only Islam that has this issue
What do you say to nuns wearing a habit?
Same reasons that jewish and christian women have been traditionally taught to cover themselves. Its called modesty.
Muslim men are also taught to cover the area above the navel and beyond the knees. So its not just women that are taught to be modest.
You know that argument can be applied against other religions, traditions and cultures….

@@nathanaelsmith3553what she is wearing is a symbol of Islamic oppression and subjugation of women, which most liberal thinking people consider a distinct threat to modern values
So being a Muslim is more than just wearing a hijab.. but doing so is a choice she will ahve made to show her ultimate devotion to her faith and devotion to Allah (God) and people who tell her she shouldn't wear it are no better than those who would say she must. You don’t have to like it, just don’t be a dick about it
Of course you are allowed and you don't have to like it.

Hey Joe ...who are the "Far Right".....
Its places fuled with the obsession of 'if its not like me, its bad'
The deffenition of 'Far right' is an exremist or far view or action based on right wing idiology.
and the defenition of right wing is the range of political ideologies that view certain social orders and hierarchies as inevitable, natural, normal, or desirable, typically supporting this position based on natural law, economics, authority, property, religion, or tradition
So when you ask "Who are the Far Right" Its the people that base their views on these past traditions and hierarchies, who throw away any form of human decency because they dont belive its their 'traditions' or 'natural'
Right now in this country we have many different political parties.
Erm, people whose feelings get hurt when the term is used and have to ask who it refers to? You know, racists, haters, white-supremacists, all the “-phobes” and negative “-ists”, people who think Hitler was correct. Does that clarify your political persuasions for you? 😘
Think about the political spectrum on 4-axis.
Left and right are socialist and conservative respectively.
Up and down are authoritarian and communism respectively.
The far right would be extreme conservatives.

This entire conversation was irrelevant and insulting. Some areas ARE no-go areas. Also, i do enjoy that everything she says is "far right", its all identity with zero substance.
Anyone pushing this socialist identity rubbish, you will get what you ask for, and hopefully, the "far right" will pull your ass out of the fire when this all blows up in your face.
I suggest you tell that to the racists and misogynists who are obsessed with identity, rather than to the victims, as you've done here.

Disgusting this is Brotain!
Islamophobia is rife in the UK and Sunak has thrown fat on the fire to make it worse. When I first became a Muslim and started wearing hijab I got verbally insulted, it seemed that people felt they could say whatever they wanted to me or at me, |I felt dehumanised. I live in quite a middle to upper working class area and there are no Muslims, and I had eggs thrown on my car, my car got scraped from bonnet to boot, I had dog poo splattered on my front door and bin bags emptied in my garden. This has stopped now alhamdulliah but it was hard to endure at first.
So you can complain about Islamophobia all you want, but it opposition to Islam/Muslim immigration is occurring for absolutely valid reasons.
@@ecnalms851 Firstly i'm not an immigrant I was born in the UK and can trace my family tree back to the 1700's. Secondly, for every nut job you highlight I can also highlight back.. nut jobs don't represent every single Muslim or even every single Christian, I'm sure you are smart enough to figure that out yourself. Also if a Muslim has been arrested for a crime, s/he is highlighted as 'Muslim'.. what religion was Harold Shipman? Lucy Letby? Jimmy Saville? Or doesn't their religion matter if they're white.
@@binxwinx8434 Doesn’t matter if you specifically are an immigrant or not, I’m simply highlighting why people are voting for parties who want stricter immigration. Is it not striking for you that Norway made compulsory women’s rights classes compulsory for uslim migrants? Muslim countries are known for intolerant, patriarchal, and sexist societies.
@@binxwinx8434 1) Doesn’t matter if you aren’t an immigrant, I’m commenting on Islam and immigration from Muslim countries as a whole.
2) Uslim are counties are notorious for societies that are patriarchal, sexist, and intolerant. Therefore, its not striking that Norway made women’s rights classes compulsory for uslim migrants after $ex crimes were committed by said migrants? Same for Germany - Cologne incident happened the same year Germany accepted a million uslim refugees and perpetrators were described as Arab. Of the 1 million that came, 160,000 are now missing and have essentially evaded the authorities. This sentiment against uslim immigration is happening all across Europe like Italy with meloni, le pen in France, PVV in Netherlands, denmark, afd (Germany), Sweden democrats in Sweden… The problem is not racism, the problem is uslim immigrants not integrating and until they do and immigration stops, people will keep voting for corresponding parties
@@binxwinx8434 All you’ve done here is avert the blame and absolve responsibility from the uslim community.
Uslim countries are notorious for intolerance, sexism, and being patriarchal. Therefore, it’s not surprising that migrants coming from these countries forced Norway to make women’s rights classes compulsory or what happened in Cologne Germany by 2000 Arab men or for what happened to Samuel Paty. After what’s being happening again and again, it’s not wonder people are voting for the far right
